Kasey's 2 month appointment

On January 29th, we went in for Kasey's 2 month a checkup.  She is growing like a weed.  She weighed 13 pounds, 1 oz (90%), 23 inches long (69%), and 15 3/4 head circumference (76%).  She was doing great.   She had a little bit of cradle cap, but just have wash some with Selsun blue to clear it up.

Because she still had a little bit of blood in her stool that week, they recommended that I stay off dairy for a while longer.   It's pretty hard to do, but I'll survive.

quick update

Kasey slept about 8 hours last night. Yea! She's done that about 3-4 times which is a nice change. We've moved her to 3-6 month clothes and she's out of 1 diapers to 1-2 diapers (Pampers sizes).

Landon is doing great with potty training. Wednesday Jan 28th we kind of went cold turkey putting Landon in underwear during the day. When he has big boy underwear on (either Cars (he really likes Tow Mater) or Thomas the Train boxer briefs) he does very well with going the bathroom in the potty. A couple times he's asked for a diaper so he doesn't go the bathroom in his underwear. We've been able to talk him out of changing to a diaper so far. Good progress. We'll see how it goes when he starts going more places.

This coming week is my last full week home with everyone. Back to work after that.

Photo Shoot

On Jan 24th we did a photo shoot with our family (the 4 of us), and with my parents Grammy and Gramps. My good friend Audrey Reed took the pictures and did an awesome job. Here are some of my favorites.

We had our first in person parent teacher conference at Landon's school Applecreek. His teachers said he was doing well. He had mastered most things that he was supposed to. He's still improving on washing his hands and cutting with scissors. I asked if they thought he was doing well compared to the other kids and the said yes. Landon really enjoys school and seems like he's doing well.

Kasey has started sleeping in her crib for the first time (she's been sleeping in the swing)! On Thursday (1/16/09) we started putting her in there for naps, and then she slept in there at night. She's not sleeping 7 1/2 or 8 hours like she had a couple times last week, but she's sleeping there. Yesterday for a nap I put her awake in the crib and turned on the mobile. She feel asleep. Of course when I tried the same thing at bed time she calmed down, but didn't go to sleep. We'll get it all figured out.

Just in the last day her face is really starting to clear up. She looks so cute.

We keep trying to get some family pictures and there has been something happen or come up causing us to reschedule about 3 times. I have faith that we'll be successful next weekend!

We started the M&M reward system for Landon going potty. For about a day he stayed dry and went the bathroom in the potty. It's pretty much gone down hill from there. We've tried pull ups some, but he just doesn't want to go to the bathroom. I know that he knows when he needs to go because he'll look at me like he's doing something wrong. So we're moving on to new methods. Today we went and bought some real underwear (they didn't have Thomas the Train in his size so we got some Cars boxer briefs). He's also gone to the bathroom both at lunch and in Kohls today with a dry diaper so we'll see how things go.

Yesterday Beth and Cade came over to play and have lunch. Landon wasn't to sure about sharing his trains with Cade because Cade didn't want to play with them the way Landon wanted him to. It all worked out though.

Last night the kids and I went to Grammy and Gramps house for dinner because Daddy went out with Dave. I noticed that the heater was not working which wasn't good in the cold weather yesterday. Anyway, we had a major leak from the 4 runner that we thought was transmission issue, but ends up being coolant issue of some kind. Anyway, we left the 4runner there overnight in case it was a tranmission issue. Greg came to pick up Kasey and I after his dinner, and Landon spent the night at Grammy and Gramps which they all enjoyed.

Monday (1/12) I had my 6 week visit with my midwife Jeanean. Everything looks good. We got some good pictures of us with Jeanean.

I also took Kasey to the doctor. She has had a little bit of blood in her stool, and started spitting up more. It could be 1 of 2 things - an allergy to milk protien or a stomach bug. I have to cut dairy out of my diet for about a month, and we are also collecting poo poo for some tests. They aren't overly concerned about it, but we need to make sure it isn't something more serious.

She weighed 12 lb 3 oz so she's still gaining weight well. I also asked about the rash on her face, and she said it looked more like eczema than baby acne. I'm putting Aquaphor on it, and it already seems to be getting better.

We got Kasey's bed set up with her new mobile, but she's still not thrilled to lay flat yet. We'll have to keep working on that.

Yesterday (1/8) I got to get out of the house on my own for a little bit. Greg kept Kasey and I went to Landon's school to volunteer during their art time. It was sort of nice to get out "on my own", and Kasey slept the whole time I was gone so Greg got some time to himself as well.

I think that Kasey's eyes are starting to turn brown. They will likely be brown because Greg and I both have brown eyes, but we don't know what shade.

Kasey doesn't seem to be sleeping much. I need to read what that means. She's doing about the same at night, but isn't sleeping as much during the day.

In the play room downstairs we have a light dimmer which means that to turn on the light you just have to touch the pad on the light switch. When Landon has his shoes on he can now reach the light on his own. He was pretty excited about this.

Kasey had her first bottle this week. On 1/7 Greg gave her a bottle of breast milk. She ate about 3 oz, but wasn't overly thrilled about it. We'll have to give her bottles every once in a while so she's used to it when I got back to work next month.

Kasey slept 7 hours

Kasey slept last night for 7 hours for the first time. I don't have my hopes up that it will the standard, but it was nice. I almost got up after I fed her at 6, but decided to get a little more sleep since she kept us up til after 3am the night before.

Kasey seems to want me to walk her around to calm her down. This can get a little tiresome, but seems to work most of the time. We've also noticed the last couple days that she has spit up really big after we've given her mylicon. She was already upset, but who knows if mylicon has anything to do with it.

Kasey is also smiling. I think babies this age usually smile when sleeping, but not usually when awake. I think that Greg, Grammy, Grandma and Landon have all seen her smile while awake so this isn't just Mommy saying it. Of course it's hard to get a picture of it though.

On Jan 3rd Landon started helping to give Kasey a bath. He gets the soap and cleans her feet and tummy. It's cute and a good help.

Landon went back to school today after the holiday break and everyone seems to be trying to get back into their routines. Kasey and I got to go drop him off today. I asked Landon if he wanted to leave his sunglasses in the car or give them to us inside. He said if was sunny outside so that's why he needed to wear them. We have to register for Landon's school next year end of this month, and we're trying to understand how they register new kids.

Few updates

I finally published a Christmas post on 12/25/08 if you are interested.

Kasey still has baby acne, but hopefully it will get better soon. She is sleeping pretty consistently at night in 4 1/2 to 5 hour stretches which is nice. She's also staying up more during the day. The last few nights she'll wake up about dinner time and stay up until 10ish and go to sleep for 4 1/2 to 5 hours. She's also staying up a little more in the middle of the day.

Landon is doing well. He wants me to give Kasey to Daddy lots so I can play with him. We try to alternate so Landon gets attention he needs but so does Kasey. Landon likes sitting with Kasey in his little couch. Landon's latest phrase is "I/You can do xyz if you want to". It's really cute as he says it about eating dessert or one of us going to play with him. Landon just asked me to put the computer down and not do the "blob". So more later.
