7/31 - Landon has started reading Magic Tree House books and really likes them. He's worried that he'll get done and won't have the next book. Glad to see he's getting into reading more. Landon is in Lego camp this week with several friends and really enjoying it. They made a Lego robot that kicked a ball yesterday and built a goalie today.
Kasey pretends that she has kids and they live out her life I think as she wants to. During the opening ceremonies of the Olympics she would say things like my kids jump on their beds all the time. She popped a bubble with her mouth in the shower, and I told her not to eat the soap that it's icky. She told me her kids eat soap all the time. We hear many things about her kids. I asked her teacher today and she tells them stuff about her kids too.
7/29 - Kids actually slept in a little bit - 7:30ish for Landon and 8ish for Kasey. I let them watch some Olympics and we got up to go to Cracknells (down the street) for some family swim time. We had fun and kids got to play in the pool. We all got in to stay cool.
In the afternoon we signed Landon up for a Lacrosse clinic through ASA. He was able to get a stick and ball for $25 and try it out. Of course it was again over 100 degrees, but he seemed to have fun. I asked if he wanted to try it. He said, when he was 8. We'll see.
While Greg and Landon were in the heat doing Lacrosse, Kasey and I did a few things around the house. We put up dishes & washed dishes - Kasey thought that getting the soap suds on what were were cleaning was the most important thing. She wanted to get more suds when we were running low. Then we decided to do our nails. We used Kaseys new nail polish which is basically clear with sparkles. We did our toe nails while we listened to music. Kasey decided she wanted to paint my toe nails. I let her paint the big toesThen I asked if she wanted me to paint her fingernails. She said sure, she said this is much more fun to do both toe nails and fingernails. I wasn't going to do my finger nails, but she convinced me that I should because they would go with my toe nails. Of course.
That night I told Kasey she could shower in her own shower since her shower curtain was now up. Kasey has been doing more of her own bathing, but she's not really ready to take her own shower. Of course in her shower she wanted me gone and the curtain closed. Oh my strong willed child. I let her bath giving her reminders. Of course Landon and Greg were coming in asking questions. Then she wanted to do her own hair - which she's never done. We got through the shower ok with some shampoo in her eyes, but hopefully she'll get better at it.
7/28 - We had lunch at Bavarian Grill - German restaurant in town. I had been wanting to go there for a while, and of course Greg went there for beers with the guys the night before. Landon liked schnitzel and sausage, but Kasey basically liked the pretzel bread. ,We were going to FC Dallas game, and tried to get a little work done in the house. Greg to Kasey's shower rod hung up and we got her new owl shower curtain hung up. She was very excited about it.
We went to dinner with Doug and then to FC Dallas game. Of course it was over 100 degrees outside. We
decided to stand up the first half in the shade instead of sitting in the sun in our seats. FC Dallas just got a new sponsor so they were selling old Jerseys that say FC Dallas on them for pretty good discount. Greg, Kasey and Landon all got new Jerseys. 2nd half we went to sit in our seats because sun was going down. Kids seemed to have fun. I asked Landon if he had fun. He said, yea it was good except for FC Dallas - they lost the game. Both kids fell asleep in the car they were up a few hours past bed time.
7/27 - Greg was having drinks with the boys. So I got kids from grandparents, we picked up dinner and headed home to watch the Olympics opening ceremonies. We had fun watching before kids had to go to bed. I wasn't to sure about the nightmare part - I was worried it would give Landon nightmares, but he did ok.
7/26 - Busy day for kiddos today. Kasey had school in the morning so Greg took Landon to ride his bike. He had done a little, but still wasn't really riding on his own without training wheels. They went to a park with a big sidewalk that he could ride around, and Landon was able to ride around multiple times pretty well. He's even getting better at falling :) Then after Kasey was done with school they met up with a little boy from Kaseys 2s class at a spray park to play and have lunch. Kasey asked for a play date with this little boy - he's the one that she would hold hands with at school. The kids had a great time playing. Landon got to go as well and play with Joseph's older brother. I asked Kasey if they held hands, and she said no not really. Of course Joseph's mom took pictures and they were holding hands and had their arms around each other.
One of my co-workers had registered me for lottery for Allen Eagle (local high school) football tickets. This year they have new football stadium that is amazing. We all went to pick out our tickets Thursday - they had it really organized showing where seats were left and called each person one by one into room to select what seats you wanted. Then you walked out, payed for tickets and took them with you.
7/24 - Landon had his 6 year appointment today. Hearing and sight were good. He's been having some allergy issues so they took some blood to do allergy test on several things. He weighed 54 lb (83%), 47.5 in tall (77%), and had BMI 17.18 which is 86%. They say above 85% is overweight. Sorry, but Landon is not overweight.
7/23 - Greg took the kids shoe shopping (which I quote he said "was a beating"). Landon got new tennis shoes and some nicer shoes. Kasey got some more cute pull on shoes and tennis shoes. They also both got new crocs, and got me a pair of croc flip flops. So for a family that didn't like crocs we now all have them :) Landon went from size 13 to size 1 1/2 (1 1/2 size difference), and Kasey went from 9 to 10. I guess we need to get Landon new cleats as well.
7/22 - We went to the pool for a little while this morning. Had some lunch and then took the kids to Grandmas so Greg and I could go see Beth in her play - How to be successful in Business without even trying. It was cute and good to see her for a few minutes.
Then we had dinner with Greg's family at Spring Creek. We had a little dessert afterwards and headed home to get kids to bed.
7/21 - With everything going on we forgot to give Greg his birthday stuff on Friday. We gave it to him as soon as he woke up on Saturday. I woke up at 4:45am and couldn't sleep and Landon was up by 6:30 or so. Kasey is very excited about giving people their birthday presents and cards. She gave Greg the different things and then saved her card for last and made a big deal out of her card.
After morning work out, we got ready and headed to Top Golf to play some. It was pretty warm, but we had fun playing golf. They have points that you get when you get balls into different buckets out in the field. Everything is sensor based and pretty fun. We played 2 rounds. Then we headed for a quick lunch and I decided I needed a nap.
We then got Zorbas to take to Grammy/Gramps to celebrate Greg's birthday. Landon was upset that I took a nap and that they didn't get to go to Grammys earlier. Then Greg headed to FC Dallas game. The kids took shower at Grammy/Gramps and we headed home at bed time.
Kids were down, Greg was gone so I had a cold beer and Rented Step up to watch Channing Tatum dance :)
7/20 - Today was Greg's birthday. I had to work, but left about 4pm. We had planned to have pool party with the neighbors that night, but we had a weird thunderstorm roll in. We got some Torchy Tacos, had a few drinks and let the kids play. Landon was sad that we didn't get to swim, but he had fun anyway. We had some of Greg's favorite dessert, but it was a little runny but still good.
That night Stephanie, Jessica, Meg and I went to Village Burger bar for girls night for a few hours. We had fun getting out some.
7/18 - Getting Landon to bed. I told him if he wakes up early in the morning to put up his clean clothes. He said, mom you don't like me to wake up early. I said if you sleep in great, but if you happen to wake up early (which he always does) put your clothes up :)
7/16 - Landon got in trouble for being rude so he had to go take a shower early. Kasey was telling me to not yell at him. I told her I can't wait til she has kids. She then told me that she does have kids and they go in time out when they yell at her and Landon.
7/15 - Greg tried to let me sleep in - he went for bike ride and told kids not to come in until 8:30. I think they held out until a little after 8 which was ok. I had the kids help me clean up some while Greg was riding his bike. They helped put their clothes away which was good. Kasey wanted to try hanging stuff on hangers, and Landon put most of his stuff away except he couldn't reach stuff to hang up.
Kasey was taking shower same time as me. She tried to pop a soap bubble with her mouth. I told her she shouldn't eat soap it's yucky. She said, yea my kids eat soap all the time
Today we had 2 birthday parties. Morning was a neighborhood pool party for little girl that lives down the street. She has a crush on Landon. Kids had a great time at the pool, and they got to hit a pinata as well. Kasey got into a donut floaty and quickly figured out how to spin around in it. She had fun. She also likes to get on my back for piggy back ride and we pretend to go places. Last time we went to South Africa and San Diego. This time she started making up names of places to go to. She has started talking more in her own language. Not sure where it comes from.
We had quick lunch then showered and headed to birthday party number 2. This was for friend from AppleCreek that Landon has known since he was in 2s class there. Justin turned 6. Kasey is now in class with his younger brother this summer, it's fun to see and talk to families we've known for several years even though we live in different parts of town. Kids got to bowl, have cake and pizza and then play games.
After parties kids wanted to play on their ipads. We told them we had to clean up for the house keepers, and if they helped a lot they could play. They actually cleaned up the play room better than usual so they got to play some.
Landon starts an art class this week. He was coughing so I was trying to calm him down in bed giving him a little gum to chew. We were talking about his camp, and he said you know the best camp for me would be and art lego camp. Making legos out of art supplies - fun that he thinks about things like that.
7/14 - We took it easy in the morning, had lunch, and then met the Turners for movie to see Ice age. The previews were quite long. Landon kept asking when the movie would start. After several previews, Kasey says out loud - Oh Come On. Greg and I almost lost it. Kasey was also humming the Darth Vader song several times today. Landon said she learned it from him. They both started humming it a lot. They really like singing to music on the radio and some things we listen to at home. Their current favorite at home is Taylor Swift - Back to December.
7/13 - Greg took Landon and Kasey in the morning to the zoo. They left early and took the train down there which the kids thought was fun. It was a pretty warm day, but they had to be back by 2pm for Kasey's soccer tots. They really liked seeing the lions - they have an area where they show you training the lions and it's behind glass right in front of you. Landon was also very excited to see ant eaters.
I got to go see Magic Mike with our neighbor. Wine and cute boys - not a bad combo :)
7/12 - Greg took the kids to the pool this afternoon and they had fun. One of the other families from the neighborhood was there.
7/8 - We had few birthday celebrations today. One of the little girls down the street who is six months younger than Kasey had her 3 year old party at their house. We had fun with the neighbors and kids played outside in the kiddie pool and jump house in the heat. Our houses are getting older, so most of the dads talked about all of the things that need to be done to the houses. If I had the energy I would organize them to get painting and house stuff with several houses to hopefully get discount. I don't think I have the energy for that.
We stayed over there for several hours, and then we came home to rest before going to Grammy and Gramps for Gramp's birthday celebration. We went to their house in late afternoon and kids got to play. We had Freebirds for dinner and Grammy made a peach cobbler which was yummy. Landon beat me at table soccer. Lady got hang out too, and liked that. We got Gramps a new Rangers shirt and wallet that he seemed to like. Kids each made him a homemade card too.
7/7 - Today Greg got up to ride his bike then I went to the gym for aerobics. Came home and helped get everything organized for the day. Greg took Landon to a school friend's birthday party. They said Greg could drop him off if he wanted, but Landon wanted Greg to stay. They had a magic show and boys had fun seeing each other. Kasey and I got ready listening to some music. I was in the bathroom getting ready and asked her if she would fold towels for me. In her cute voice she say "Sure". We have small white towels that we clean up with around the house, and Kasey has learned to fold these. She folded more than 10 and put them into piles just like we do.
Kasey and I went to Grammy and Gramps for a bit until Greg came to pick me up after dropping Landon at Grandma and Pops. Our friend Doug had won a Lone Star Park Suite at A&M coaches night. The suite was very nice and we got free food and some free drinks as well. We had fun betting and hanging out with friends. We won a little bit, but not to much. Another couple won almost $400. We headed back, I got to kids to bring home for bed and Greg went to FC Dallas game.
Landon helped Grandma make Apple Pie (which is a lot of work), but he enjoyed it and it was good. Kasey helped Gramps fix a table and played lots.
7/5 - Greg had to get up to take my car to dealership because AC went out. We had idea to go to water park, but kids were up late and tired and Turners had a rough night so we decided on the neighborhood pool instead. We had some fun there. Our downstairs AC was also not doing well so we called AC guy, We just needed some Freon apparently. I went shopping on my own for several BDay parties for kids coming up and then we got simple dinner from Market street and stayed home. Kids were in bed before 7:30 and maybe they will sleep in some tomorrow - yea right.
7/4 - our ideal of getting up to work out didn't happen. We slept in some, and I got up to go get kids and Greg got up to do the yard. That evening Greg went to FC Dallas game with Doug and the kids and I went with Turners to the McKinney fireworks. The kids had fun hanging out and showing off. The fireworks were good, but none of us were impressed with the music they linked it with. Kids got to bed about 10:45 after fireworks this is more 3 hours after bed time which isn't a good thing.
7/2 - Greg has been sitting in the same football seats since 1994, and we found out through facebook than one of then gentlemen that sits in front of us passed away on 6/29. Very sad and sudden. Greg and I felt that we should go give our condolences in person so we headed down south. I left work early, took Landon to gymnastics and then we took the kids to Grandmas where Landon went to Grammys and Kasey stayed at Grandmas. At Gymnastics, the Kasey, Peyton and Joe were all playing on their ipads while their siblings were in class. Tough life :) Greg and I drove to Conroe that evening. We got to visit with Jim and Mary a bit before bed time. We got to spend some time with Mary and Jim the next morning and saw David and Cheri for a few minutes. Then we headed to the funeral. It was very nice. He was a very good man and will be missed by many. Greg and I had lunch and Wings n More in Katy then headed back home.
