Kasey 7 months old & some other updates

7/2 - Kasey drank from a straw for the first time.

We've officially started a backyard project today. We are getting a new stained cement patio with a covered arbor on part of it. We are excited. I'll post pictures once we get further down the road

6/29

Landon decided he wanted to help feed Kasey, and so we let him. He did a really good job, but it made me nervous.

6/28

We went to the neighborhood pool with the Turners. Kasey actually got in the water for the first time. She seemed to enjoy it. Hopefully this week I'll actually get her a bathing suit so she's not just wearing blue swim diapers and a pink shirt!

Kasey turned 7 months today.

She's pretty much in 12 month clothes now. She's eating at least 1 solid meal a day, and this weekend when we went out we took some food with us to help keep her entertained. She's had rice cereal, avocado, banana and peaches. We've used all organic so far. She seems to do well and actually seems to eat more in the evenings. She's still getting only breastmilk for her main food.

She's trying to move towards things. She really wants to get there. She will roll over and try to reach things and really try to move towards them, but she's not quite getting there. She also will lay her head down from sitting up and play peak a boo. I took a video because I thought it was cute.

She's also pushing her arms through her clothes when we get her dressed pretty well.

She seems to have a hard time going to sleep lately. She's teething, but she's not sleeping as much during the day so she'll take a late afternoon nap and then want to stay up until after 10. She'll sleep 7-9 hours which is pretty good.

6/27 - Landon slept in underwear instead of pull ups for the first time. He did a good job and went potty when he got up

6/26

We think Kasey will be on the move soon. This past week she's started rolling over in her bed when she's not really tired. We had to lower the crib because she'd roll over and just look over the top of the crib.

She's gotten up on all 4s a couple times. She'll also try to reach really far to get something. She'll even turn or get on her stomach to get something she wants.

This week she's started moving backwards.

She's also getting to know her surroundings more. The other night I had her on Landon's bed, and he had some sand on it from taking a nap right after school. She started moving her legs back and forth like she was trying to feel it. Monday I put her in the grass for the first time and she was feeling the grass and moving her legs like she did on Landon's bed. Fun to watch her explore.

Landon is really going into the I'm not going to take a nap phase. Unfortunately that means that he's usually really tired in the evening. He cries about just about anything when he's really tired.

Hard to tell from here but she's kind of doing the splits. She'll go from sitting up to this position alot now.

Landon actually asked me to take a picture of him with his trains. You can see some of his new paint art work in the background.

6/28 - At the pool in the neighborhood

Kasey in the pool really for the first time that. Last time we went to the pool Kasey and I just sat on the steps, but she didn't really get in the water.

Some updates

here are some updates I'll have to update more pictures from playdate and visit with Jaime soon.

Landon started swim lessons (6/9) and seems to enjoy it and do well. His second lesson he even went underwater some. We asked if we should get him some floaties to play with in the pool in the neighborhood, but they didn't recommend it.

6/14 - We went to the neighborhood pool for the first time with Landon's friend Liam and his mom. Kasey and I sat on the side of the pool to keep cool, and she did great until she got tired.

6/15 - Landon actually fell asleep like this on the stairs. I guess he was really tired.

6/16 - Kasey's second tooth came through (bottom right middle). We had our first playdate of the year. It started with TI mom friends like we did last year, and some of Landon's friends from school and a neighborhood friend came as well.

6/18 - Kasey has decided that she can roll around in her bed. When we put her in bed she rolled onto her stomach several times. One time I was trying to sneek away, and she rolled over and put her head up to look over the top of the crib. It was cute. Needless to say we probably need to move the crib mattress down.

6/19 - Greg was mowing the lawn and I was outside with the kids watching. Landon decided he wanted to help Greg mow the yard. Last year he was afraid of the lawnmower. Greg told him jokingly that if he started pushing the lawnmower it was his to do.

6/20 - My good friend Jaime and her husband came in town so we (Grammy, Landon, Kasey and I) went to her mom and sister's house for dinner and to visit. Another high school friend of ours Chad came with his wife and son to visit. We had a good time.

Father's Day 2009

We had a nice Father's Day for Greg and both of our Fathers. There are a few pictures below. Click here to see more pictures.

Breakfast - Landon and Daddy went to get donuts. We gave Daddy his gifts. We got him a new watch - which he was there to pick it out, Best of XM package to listen to more football games this year, and a collage of the kids new portraits to put on his nightstand.

Landon made Greg, Gramps and Pops ties that he decorated himself. He enjoyed making them, but no one wanted to wear theirs :)

It was fun having Kasey join the families at the tables for the first time.

We went to Uncle Julios and picked up Fajitas then went to my parents house for lunch. Landon threw a fit while eating, but was ok later. We got to play some games with Grammy, Gramps, Landon and I. That was fun. We played the Ladybug game and a Cars game my mom has.

Someday I'll get a close up, but you can see in this picture why we think Kasey looks like my dad.

For dinner we went to Grandma and Pops house and Greg cooked out steak and salmon on the grill. He did great as usual. Landon has a tomato plant at Grandma and Pops house, and he got to pick some of his own tomatoes.

New Schedule

Landon started summer school today.  He's going to start going 3 days a week from 9-2.  He takes his lunch and has regular class then an extra session that they just play and get to go outside some more.  He did well today, but for some reason didn't take a nap.   He was in bed before 8pm so we'll see what time he gets up.

Kasey was also quite tired and almost fell asleep at 8 as  well.  I gave her a bath so she didn't really go to sleep until closer to 8:45pm.

Kasey's First Tooth, Kasey's First Solids

Kasey's first tooth came through and Grandma noticed it on 6/5/09.  It's her bottom middle left tooth.  She really wants to chew on things more, but it doesn't seem to be bothering her to much.  Although she seems to be getting fussier when we go out to eat.  Not sure if it's teething or just her personality that she doesn't want to sit there while we eat.  We were very spoiled that overall Landon is very good going out to eat.

Kasey had her first solid food on 6/6/09.  She had Earth's Best Organic rice cereal mixed with breast milk.  She did pretty good and took several bites.

Kasey has started watching the dogs a lot more.  She was sitting on our bed laying back on the boppy, and she pulled herself up to sitting to watch Lady.   

Kasey is reaching and grabbing for everything including some diving for things.

Here are some pictures from Kasey's first eating "solids" experience.  She doesn't eat a whole lot, and pushes some of it out with her tongue.  She's getting the hang of it though.

On June 4th we had portraits done of the kids for Kasey's 6 months and Landon's 3 years at JC Penney.  I think they turned out really cute. 

Dallas Zoo and Thomas and Friends Live

Went to Dallas Zoo on 5/31/09.  This was Kasey's first time.  Grammy, Landon, Kasey and I went to the Dallas zoo for the free TI weekend.  We had a good time.  Kasey was really good, and Landon enjoyed seeing the animals and playing.  He saw a friend there from TI moms (Ian Wright) and wanted to do several of the same things he was doing.

They think this elephant is sad because it's friend passed away not to long ago.  He didn't look real happy.

Landon wanted to ride the carousel and he rode the Rhinoceros which he asked for by name.

As part of Landon's birthday we got him tickets to Thomas & Friends Live on Stage.  It had Thomas, Percy, Gordon, James & Harold the Helicopter.  Landon paid attention and did very well.  Of course they had some of the songs he knows and some other ones to get the crowd involved.    It was at the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prarie.

PreSchool & Gymboree

Tuesday June 2nd was a big day for us. It was Landon's last day for his preschool class. He was in T/TH 2s PM class. He'll be going to summer school at the same place 3 days a week, but it's still weird that his first year of school is over.

Kasey started Gymboree today for the first time. They changed locations and we didn't know that until Greg got to the old place and saw the sign on the door. Greg said she had fun. She really liked the parachute and seemed to really like the bubbles. Greg said that she was grabbing at the bubbles. We'll have to get some pictures when more than one of us can go.

We've also signed Landon up for swim lessons that he'll start next Tuesday.
