Kasey's first plane flight, Visit with Grandpa

Friday April 24th we went to Odessa, TX to visit the kids' Great Grandpa.   This was Kasey's first airplane flight.  It's amazing how much stuff we have to take with two kiddos.   We had it all planned.   Greg had the 2 carseats and the backpack, I had Kasey in the sling and pulled the big suitcase, & Landon pulled the small roller bag.   I'm sure we looked like a crew.   To bad we didn't get a picture of that.  Anyway, we got several good pictures from the trip below.   We had a very nice visit.

Landon wanted to go on that color plane.  Of course the one we rode on going out was painted the old colors, and Landon was dissapointed.  We got to ride back in one with the blue, and he remembered on Sunday that we didn't get to ride in a blue one on Friday.

On the plane for Kasey's first plane ride.   Landon has to have his own seat now.  Both kids did well.  Landon got his own little drink with lid and straw and he got some pretzels.   Kasey did well.  She ate a little bit on takeoff, and then chilled out most of the flight.  She fell asleep by the time we were landing.

Daddy and his kiddos on the plane going back home (April 26).  I think the kids were tired as both of them fell asleep (as you can see below) on takeoff and slept majority of the flight.   I think they were tired from having off schedules, and everyone getting up early for a few days.

Western Day

It was Western Day at Landon's school today. We borrowed a hat, vest and scarf from his friend Liam down the street. I think Greg had to bribe Landon to take this picture, but it's really cute. Landon has started saying he doesn't want pictures. Does that mean I take to many???

Greg took Landon down to Liams to get the stuff and take it back. I guess the boys just go crazy when they are together. I'm sure part of it being that it's been wet so there has been less outside time.

Landon has also decided that he wants to take a shower instead of a bath. He's gone through this phase before when he was younger. Not sure how long it will last...

Landon knows the days of the week. In school they learned the days of the week and that there are 7 days. They sing a song to the tune of Clementine. Of course Greg and I get it caught in our heads. Sunday Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday Friday, Saturday....

Kasey is 5 months old

I looked at Kasey today and thought she's going to be as old as Landon before I know it.  Crazy how time flies.

Things are going well.  Kasey was sleeping about 7 hours a night, but the last few nights she's woken up twice in the night.  I'm assuming she's going through a growth spurt.   Of course Landon has started waking up in the middle of the night to blow his nose or go to the bathroom.  Needless to say we haven't been sleeping much.

Kasey has started sucking on her fingers in the last week of so.  She'll suck on either hand, but the middle 2 or 3 fingers.  She doesn't always do it, but is doing it more.

She seems to be getting bigger and bigger.  This past weekend I had a 6-9 month sleeper that I really had to work to get on her.  Some of her other 6-9 month clothes are already to small.  I haven't bought any 12 month clothes, but I expect that I will be sooner rather than later.  We're also going to start using size 3 diapers because the 2-3s we are using are getting a little small. 

Kasey still has crazy hair that just seems to be getting crazier!  I think part of it is that she gets hot from getting upset and so her hair gets oily.   It's also long in some parts and short in others which doesn't help.

The other night I was sitting upstairs with her and showing her some pictures.  When I showed her Landon, Greg or the Grandmothers she got a huge smile on her face.  It was cute.

She went on her first plane ride to see Grandpa on April 24th.  I'll post more on this later.

She has been rolling over some, but not always.  I haven't seen it in a long while.

Kasey for sure loves her brother very much.   He's very sweet with her and they both seem to enjoy hanging out.   I'm not sure Landon will feel the same way when Kasey starts taking his toys, but we'll see.

So apparently  Kasey is rolling over now, but I haven't seen it.  Yesterday (4/22) Kasey rolled over several times for Grammy/Gramps and Greg.  I still haven't seen it, but we could probably say it's her first week to roll over.    I think she's rolled over from back to front and front to back.

Landon isn't limping anymore which is good.   I don't think I put this in the blog.  Landon was running around outside in Crocs, tripped and fell.   One of the crocs fell off, and he hurt his ankle. He was limping for a while.  It got to the point that we took him to the doctor.  He even had an xray.  luckily nothing was broken so it was just wait and see.  Several hundred dollars later we see that he's doing well.  YEA!

Landon's room - 4/19/09

We started doing some more decorating in Landon's room. I've had these decals since he moved into the room last October. oops. Anyway, Landon helped me to arrange them so it was fun, and I think it turned out pretty good. His comforter has the sports balls on them. I've also bought some unique prints that we'll put in his room. I'm supposed to get the last one back from framing on the 23rd so hopefully we'll get those up later this month.

I really think Kasey is sitting up and Grammy agrees with me. Greg doesn't agree. She will sit up for a little bit on her own, she will try to put her hands downs some (her body is so much longer than her arms that this doesn't help much). Anyway here are some pictures. We'll say she officially started sitting up this week (week of April 11th :)

We got to meet Haley Beth (Beth and Andrew Hamilton's 2 week old baby girl). Haley was a very good baby, and the boys enjoyed playing together. Kasey got a little over tired and was fussy, but we had a good visit.

For Landon's school social this month we went to see Cars in the movie theater and then went to lunch at Fudruckers. I think the boys did pretty good for a bunch of 2 and 3 year olds. Landon got up twice to go to the bathroom, and pretty much stayed put other than that. Of course after the movie all of the boys were running around chasing each other because they had been somewhat still for 2 hours. Anyway, here are some pictures: click here

Easter 2009

We had a nice Easter this year. Landon got to hunt for eggs several times. He got to the point that he wanted to put eggs all over the house himself so he could pick them up. He's still got bags and baskets of eggs that he plays with everyday. I 'd rather him play with the eggs than eat all the candy.

Grammy gave the kids some nice outfits that they wore on Easter. You'll see Kasey's green dress, and Landon's blue pants with green sweater vest.

So it's pretty bad it's taken me so long to get these up, but here they are. We had such good pictures with my parents that we decided to get some pictures with Greg's family. My friend Audrey Reed took the pictures and did a great job. Here are some of my favorites.

Dana's Birthday Celebrations - 2009

4/3/09

We started the weekend by going to dinner at Zorbas (our favorite Greek restaurant). We've been going there since Landon was very little. They have Saganaki (Greek cheese) that they light on fire and say Opa. Somewhere along the line Landon started getting scared of the fire. We told him when they do it to raise his hands and say Opa as well. He did this several times and didn't seem to be scared. It was cute.

4/4/09

Saturday morning the boys got donuts for us for breakfast. I was on the bed feeding Kasey and Landon was making me birthday presents. He brought me a plate of crayons and said happy Birthday. He also brought me a basket of his pretend cookies.

That afternoon Landon and I went to see a Circus in Allen with his friend down the street and his mom. We got to feed Llamas and goats. I rode a camel with Landon and Liam, and then Liam wanted to ride the Elephant as well so I went with him while Landon stayed with Jessica. The kids had a good time seeing the animals and the acts. We also got to go to out houses to potty 3 times which was an experience all in itself.

That night we went to Greg's parent's house for a birthday celebration. We had a good meal as usual, and Grandma made me a German chocolate cake without milk in it. I think it required some creativity, but I really appreciated it and it was great. We had fun hanging out with everyone and eating good food.

4/5/09

Sunday morning after breakfast the kids gave me my presents which Landon is great at helping open. For Lunch we had some good leftovers from the night before. Then Grammy came to get the kids for the afternoon. Greg went to Dallas Cup to watch soccer games, and I went to Audrey's house to work on an art project (I'll share more on this in the coming months). That evening I went to my moms and we had dinner and a celebration with the kids. Mom had some fun balloons, a blow up birthday cake, Fajitas from Uncle Julios, and 2 desserts also specially made without dairy. We had a good time and enjoyed hanging out.

4/11/09

I decided that i wanted to have an adult only celebration as well. Tracy and I arranged to have a joint birthday celebration for dinner at Blue Fish. We had some really good Sushi and enjoyed the company. Greg's mom and sister were nice enough to come to the house and babysit Landon, Kasey and Liam from down the street. Funny story from the kids. We feel like we spend a lot of time asking Landon to clean up or to turn things off so they don't waste the battery. While Liam was here and both boys were playing with many toys, Landon would get upset if Liam would leave the train on too long or the remote control car on. I just think it's funny that we have to tell the 2 year old these things all the time, and then he turns around and already sounds like us with others.

Kasey rolled over once

I'm prettybehind on the blog,  I have lots of updates from my birthday celebrations and pictures.  I'll get them up soon :)

Kasey rolled over from her stomach to back for the first time today (in a long time).  She only did it once though.   She's not really sitting up yet, but she's getting really close.  She will put her hands down some, but then she'll end up leaning over quite a bit.    She's doing better eating.  Monday she ate 10 oz while I was at work and today she ate 6oz.    She's started going to bed fairly well.   I'll try to feed her in the bedroom where it's darker and then put her to bed awake.  She'll fuss some, but go to sleep.  Last few nights she's gone to bed about 9:30-9:45.    Over the weekend she got up 2 and 3 times a night, but the last 2-3 nights she's just gotten up once and slept about 7 or 8 hours.  

I don't remember if I've put this in the blog so I will here.  Kasey is now in 6/9 month clothes.  This is great when it's warm because I have lots of cute spring and summer clothes.   Unfortunately it's been cooler in Dallas and she has very few long pant outfits that fit.  No worries, I'm sure it will be warm soon.   She's in 2/3 diapers and has been for a little while.

Landon is enjoying going outside to play.  The Easter Bunny brought him a Thomas the Train ball that he's having lots of fun playing with.    We've gone in the back yard the last few nights and he's enjoyed that.   He's also still playing with his various baskets and eggs from Easter.  Luckily he usually cleans up the mess he makes with them.

Kasey seems to be eating more while I'm at work. Yesterday she ate about 10oz, and today she ate a little over 7. That's pretty good.

Landon is doing well. We think he sprained his ankle yesterday. He's limping, but still wanting to run around and be a crazy 2 year old.

When I'm pumping at work I sometimes call home. In the last week or so Landon has really started to talk to me on the phone. He takes the phone from Greg and goes somewhere else in the house. He asks me how I'm doing and will tell me what's going on. It's kind of fun to get to talk to him on the phone.

Kasey 4 months

I can't believe Kasey is 4 months old.

She had her 4 month checkup.  Everything looked great.  She now weighs 16lb .5oz (91%), she's 25.25 in long (83%), and her head cir is 16.4 in (69%).  Needless to say she's growing very well.  She's a sweet chubby little baby girl.

She's started eating some during the day while I'm at work.  She'll eat between 3-6 oz breastmilk total without to much fuss.  She seems to do better not being held and being able to move around as she pleases.  We'll see how it goes.  Obviously from her weight gain she's getting what she needs.

She's cooing and making sounds more.  She had this little sound that she makes quite often almost like she's just talking and talking to us.

Last weekend we went to brunch with some friends which was a lot of fun.    I think I had a couple things that had some milk in them.  Then we went to lunch and had burgers.  I asked for no cheese, but they put it on there anyway.   We decided to give it a try and see what happened.  Not the best idea.  Kasey was fairly fussy, and then that night she spit up pretty big.  She doesn't really do that anymore so I knew it was the dairy.  Back to no dairy for me.

Kasey is still sleeping about the same.  She usually goes to bed sometime after 10pm and she'll sleep about 5-6 hours. Every once in a while she'll sleep for 7 or 8 hours, but I don't count on it.

She is doing very well grabbing toys.  She likes playing with them.  She has a little lovie blanket, baby doll, toys on her floor gym, and several others that Landon likes to get out and give her.
