Cooking and Sequential Screen

Sunday Landon and I cooked muffins. Landon helped poor in the ingredients and started mixing. He started mixing things right out of the bowl, but it was still fun. We also made orange juice, and he poured in the water pretty much by himself. He also mixed it up in the pitcher.

Yesterday I brought Landon's shoes downstairs in my work bag, and I forgot to take them out. So when I got to work today I found his shoes. A little while later I got an IM saying Mommy take shoes work. Oops!

Today they called and said that the second part of my sequential screen came back normal and that everything was fine. This second blood test is supposed to give screening results that are 90% accurate whether or not the baby will have Down syndrome and trisomy 18.

Landon is sort of learning the days of the week. He knows Friday very well. Tonight when tucking him in bed I said I'll see you tomorrow, and he said see you Friday. I told him that I would see him tomorrow which is Wednesday.

Busy Day

We had a busy day today. I had to start working at 7am this morning (from home). Greg, Landon and I went to Grammy and Gramps house for lunch because some of their friends were visiting that none of us had seen for a long time. Susan and Richard Simonson were friends with my parents when I was little. Their boys were born 9 months before me and 9 months after me. It was fun to see them and catch up.


With the TI mom's group I've put together a playdate in Allen. We are going to meet at different parks on Thursday evenings and let the kids play and the parents talk. We had a good time tonight, and the kids seem to enjoy playing together. We all got to see several turtles, 2 ducks and some fish. Some of the kids there were older and able to jump more, and so of course Landon tried doing the same things the older kids did.

Landon seems to being doing more for himself. He's getting better at taking his clothes on and off. He can take his shoes off pretty well, and is trying to put them on some too. Last week he started trying to wash his hands himself at home. He put his step stool in the 1/2 bathroom downstairs where he could reach the water. He turns on the water, sort of washes his hands, turns off the water, and he'll dry off his hands.

We usually brush Landon's teeth for him, but we wet the toothbrush first. Tonight he wanted to do it so he turned on the water, wet the toothbrush, turned off the water and brushed his teeth. I helped out to make sure we got all of the teeth, but he did good.

I'm not sure I said it before, but Sunday I tried to put on my regular pants and they wouldn't fit. So, we'll say I officially started wearing maternity clothes on Wednesday June 18th (about 4 months in). With Landon I started wearing maternity clothes at 4 1/2 months. They say everything happens sooner and faster the second time so I actually expected to start wearing maternity clothes sooner. I might have found my midwife, and hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

Playing at the Pool and Baby in Mommy's tummy

On Sunday (6/22) Landon and I went to the neighborhood pool for the first time. Landon enjoyed walking on the steps of the big pool and in the baby pool. He saw the other kids doing things on their own so he didn't really want me to hold onto him, but I stayed close. He did go under once, but didn't get to upset. He did want to take his sunglasses off after going under though.

Yesterday I had my monthly OB visit, and everything was fine. The baby's heartbeat was in the 150s and 160s which is good. She said the baby was moving a lot. I'm feeling the baby move more and more. We took Landon with us to the doctors appointment, and he got to hear the baby's heartbeat. I started telling him more that Mommy has a baby in her tummy. He kept saying that Mommy has baby in tummy. Then he asked if Landon and Daddy have babies in their tummies. I told him he was going to be a big brother. A little later he patted himself and said me big brother. It was cute.

We also found out that the midwife I've been seeing and who delivered Landon has left the practice in Frisco. I'm trying to see if I can find where she went.

Last night Greg, Landon and I sat around the house singing nursery rhymes. We had a good time laughing and doing hokey pokey and ring around the roses, and some of the songs we've learned in Gymboree.

We went for a walk tonight and Landon was trying to push Daddy. So Greg was running backwards and Landon was running after him. It was funny until Landon fell and skinned his knees.

One more minute

Landon has started to understand what we mean when we say "One more minute". Now after we've already said this to get ready for bed or something else he say No One more minute. This of course could go on for a while. He also seems to be getting more upset when he doesn't get his way. He'll cry with big tears, but we can usually settle him down by distracting him with something else.

Last week I went to Helsinki for work. This was the first overseas trip I've been on in a while. Of course with going to Helsinki I didn't sleep much so I was up a couple days at 4:30 or 5am and was able to call Greg and Landon and sing the goodnight song. Helsinki was nice since the high temperatures were in the low 60s.

Because I was on the verge of changing to Maternity clothes, I actually took maternity pants with me on the trip. This was probably a good thing and I feel like my belly has grown a bit. I'll see if I can still fit into my regular clothes, but likely I've made the move to maternity clothes.

When I got home Landon was pretty happy to see me. He kept saying pick up Mommy from trip and Mommy home.

We're planning a vacation with some other friends to Turks and Caicos in the beginning of October. The place we are going in all inclusive, and is supposed to have lots of fun things for kids, and of course it's got a beautiful beach. We're trying to get ready some now since bathing suits and water shoes and such won't be available in September. We also have to get Landon a passport.

Landon kept saying today that he wanted to go to a baseball game. We told him he could watch College World Series on TV, and he said no he wanted to go to a game. We'll have to go to a Frisco Roughrider game sometime.

Father's Day

We had a very good father's day weekend.

Saturday night we took Greg to Zorbas for a good Greek dinner. Afterwards, we went home and got lady, went by Braums to get some ice cream, and then we went to the park in our neighborhood. We played on the play area for a little while then we went to feed the turtles and fish bread. We all enjoyed this. There are several turtles in the pond and many of them came up to get food. There are also a bunch of little fish and some big fish as well.

Daddy got a picture from Landon which has 3 photos of him (one with him doing Gigem, one with him holding a heart, and one that said Dad). He also finally got the Simpsons movie, and Landon has been wanting to watch Homer since he first saw the movie cover.

Landon's 2nd 2 year molar is coming in on the bottom right side.

Sunday Landon decided he wanted to bring his potty and step stool downstairs. When he did he figured out how to wash his hands in the 1/2 bathroom. He put the stool on the side where he could reach the water and soap, and then he put the stool on the other side so he could reach the towel. It wasn't perfect as he didn't get all the soap off and left the water on, but I was impressed with his efforts!

We went to lunch with Grammy and Gramps at Uncle Julios, and then Landon and I went back to Grammy and Gramps house to hang out. Greg went to the soccer game with the guys (it was to hot for us). Grammy was bringing some toys into the living room for Landon to play with, and she brought in his wheel barrow with some blocks and other things in it. Landon say oh Grammy and took the blocks out and took them back into his play room. It was cute like he was saying she brought it in wrong.

For dinner we went to Spring Creek BBQ with Pops, Grandma, Cindy and Nanny to celebrate Father's Day. We had a good dinner and went back to Grandma and Pops house to visit.

Landon had a good day seeing everyone, but he was pretty tired when we got home. Hopefully he'll have a good night.

Potty and That Funny

Last Thursday we got Landon a little potty seat to go on the big potty. We've started putting him on it before taking a bath. He likes Landon's potty. The first time he sat on it we let him flush the toilet, and so now I think he sits on it just to flush the toilet. We keep telling him he has to go pee pee to flush the toilet, and so he pretends to and makes the sound then says flush toilet. We're just getting him associated with the terminology and the potty, and not really training just yet.

Lately when he's started laughing at something he'll say That Funny in a really cute voice. It always makes us laugh.

Tonight we went outside to play for a bit, and Greg and Landon played with the soccer ball. They kicked it around the back yard and Landon threw it some too. Then Greg started head butting the ball, and Landon thought that was funny. He kept laughing and then tried doing it himself.

He's saying phrases with more and more words. This morning on the phone he told me "have glasses on hat" when he had his hat and sunglasses on ready to go. He also seems to need to exert more energy meaning he needs to really run around to keep from getting in trouble.

Last weekend we watched the Belmont horse race and after that Landon started sitting on the couch arms and acting like he's riding a horse. He also is getting more courageous with wanting to jump off of things.

I'm feeling a lot better and most of the morning sickness is over. On 6/11 I started feeling the baby move around more. It's pretty sporadic, but I can feel it. I'm still in regular clothes, but not sure how long that will last.

Texas A&M Baseball Regional

Greg, Doug, Dave, Landon and I all went down to College Station for the A&M Baseball regional. We left Friday morning to get down there in time to eat at Freebirds and go to the first game at 12:30pm. The teams playing were A&M, Dallas Baptist, Houston and University of Illinois Chicago.

There were two games Friday, and Landon did pretty well. He didn't get much of a nap in but slept about an hour at the game, and then we stayed out past his bedtime because the A&M game wasn't over until after 10pm.

At one of the games Landon and I were taking a walk by the Umpire room, and someone walked out and asked Landon if he was a baseball fan. We said yes of course, and so the man went in and brought out an official ball for Landon. We were pretty excited. Landon and Daddy played some catch as you can see in the picture.

Saturday we got up and had Texas shaped waffles, and then we met my mom in Navasota which is about half way from College Station to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Montgomery/Conroe. The family was having a birthday celebration that night for one of my cousins Gary and my Uncle Jim. Landon and I took about a two and a half hour nap that afternoon to get us ready for the party. Landon had a great time. He enjoyed playing with his 4 year old twin cousins Haley and Ashlyn. He also seemed to remember most everyone, and enjoyed hanging out with them.

Landon was still pretty tired even with the nap and so he wanted to watch his new movie and hold his blanket most of the day. We again stayed up until almost 11pm. Of course Saturday and Sunday mornings he woke up about 7am which he never does. He usually sleeps from 9pm til 8 or 8:30am.

Sunday morning we met Greg again back in Navasota and we went back to College Station for more baseball games. Landon fell asleep on the way back to College Station. A&M had won Friday and Saturday night so they could have ended the regional to move on to the super regional if they won Sunday night. A&M ended up losing the Sunday night game which meant that they had to play again on Monday night. Because we all needed to be back in Dallas on Tuesday we drove back to Dallas late Monday after the game. A&M luckily won the Monday game, and then we got home about 2am. Needless to say we are still tired. Landon luckily has gotten some long naps in, but Greg and I still need some more sleep.

Landon was funny on the trip. He kept saying Hi Doug, Hi Dave repeatedly. He likes the guys a lot. At A&M games they do several things like if a pitcher has pitched four balls, everyone says ball 5 over and over. If the ball boy or someone in the stands doesn't catch a foul ball everyone say Eeeeeee. By the end of the last game Landon was starting to get into this. He was also helping to call if the next pitch would be a strike or a ball.
