Kasey rolled over, and Landon went potty by himself

We had a big day yesterday 2/25/09.

Kasey rolled over from front to back for the first time in a while.
Kasey laughed a little when daddy was playing with her. Grammy thought she had heard her laugh a little bit as well. 

Landon was watching Cookie Monster in the living room, and he went pee pee by himself and came running out with pants around his ankles.  He was very excited, and we were too.   He had turned the light on and gone all by himself.   He's so funny.  He's been dry for a couple days at night and in the morning as well.  He wore pull ups last night to bed instead of a diaper for the first time.

Kasey slept in blanket sleeper instead of swaddle because it's getting to warm.    It's supposed to cool down tomorrow so I'll have to decide what to do this weekend.

Greg and Doug just left to go to Houston.  It's me and the kids this weekend.  We have lots of fun things planned including doing things with the Grandparents.  Landon got sad when Greg went to leave, but we watched them leave the driveway and waved.  He seemed ok after that.

Landon has been doing great with potty training during the day in underwear. He's been wearing a diaper at night and in the morning until he gets dressed. Last night he woke me up at 12:45am to go potty, and then he went again this morning. His diaper stayed dry which is new. We'll see where this goes.

I was concerned that Kasey wasn't eating enough. We weighed her on a scale from Greg's dad's clinic, and she weighted 14 pound 9 oz. I think she's doing ok. The big thing was that I was pumping about 18 oz a day, but she was only eating about 8 in bottles. They say she should eat between 19 oz and 25 oz. I think he's getting enough now. I also think she might be going through a growth spurt. She had been sleeping 9-10 hours, but last night slept about 5 hours and wanted to eat. She ate quite a bit today.

Kasey is just a smiley girl. We went to Gymboree today to see some of the management and teachers that taught Landon. We also went to see our old housekeeper, and Kasey smiled at everyone.

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for some friends of Landon.  They had pizza, drinks, and cake.  So this morning Landon set up a party for us.  He set out pizza similar to the way the lady at the party did.  He got all of us drinks.  He set out a bunch of cookies.  He also put out chairs for Greg, Landon and I, and his soft little couch for Kasey.  It was so cute.

Last night the smoke detector in Landon's room started beeping (to change the battery).  So Greg and I went up there with the ladder and a light.   We tried to be quiet, but we were right there in his room making some noise.  Landon slept right through it....

Kasey seems to be sleeping fairly well (of course when I say things like that on the blog is changes).  The last two nights she's slept 9 and 10 hours straight.

I'm a little worried that she's not eating enough milk when I'm at work, but she seems content and doesn't seem to be losing weight.  We'll have to see.

A week or so ago, my phone was in the diaper bag and a package of liquid laundry detergent spilled all over it.  We tried pretty hard, but the phone didn't make it.  I didn't realize how much I used access to my calendar and contacts on my phone until it was gone.   We'll I've been anti-blackberry for a while but I gave in and got one.  I got it Friday, but still don't have it linked to work email yet.   I think Greg wants me to just use his phone when it's the weekend so he can play with it. It's actually a pretty nice phone.

Friday I went to lunch with my TI mom group at Freebirds.  It's just not the same without cheese.  Well somewhere between lunch and when I got home from work I lost my wallet.  What fun.  Freebirds just called and my wallet was in their safe.  Yea.  Not we have to turn back on the credit cards.

Today we went to 2 bounce house places.   1 for Landon's school social, and another for some friends birthday party.  After all of that Kasey was overstimulated, Landon was happy on sugar, and we were pretty tired.   I think everyone had fun though.  Landon did pretty good getting up most of the jump houses.  Some of them were a little difficult for him though.

February updates with Pictures

the last weekend in January we had a social for Landon's school class. I scheduled for the kids to tour the local firestation. The kids got to climb in an ambulance and the fire truck. They had Greg dress up in the fireman's uniform (he's not sure how they do it in the summer. After the tour we all had lunch at a local burger place. The kids seemed to have a good time.

Feb 2nd I started back at work part time.

The first weekend in Feb we took Kasey down to Conroe to meet my mom's family. On the way down she slept for a couple hours, and when she woke up we all ate lunch. Kasey did pretty well meeting lots of new people. When she was full and not tired she had fun smiling and talking to everyone. She really seemed to be interacting more than she had been. Saturday we has lunch with our friend Lisa, and then Greg, Lisa and Landon went to College Station to see A&M play Kansas State in basketball.  This was Landon's first basketball game.  Saturday night we had a big party for family to meet Kasey and to celebrate Grammy's birthday. Somehow the family got an Elvis impersonator to come to the party. Grammy was really surprised and excted since she's such a big Elvis fan. Everyone had fun dancing and listening to the music. Kasey was a bit fussy - probably from loud noises and to much stimulation. Because of that I didn't get to enjoy as much as I would have liked to but that's ok. Greg was the super filmer. He videod the 2 hour show and took a bunch of still shots. He's the man. Now he'll just have to figure out how to edit the video to getcopies to the family. We really enjoyed seeing everyone introducing them to our baby girl. After staying up late for two nights the kids slept well on the way home. Kasey slept the entire way. Landon woke up in Dallas but we made it home before he really had to go potty.

Valentines weekend was pretty busy. Friday night (my last part time day) we went to Grammy and Gramps house to celebrat Grammy's BDay. When we got there Landon carried in flowers and told Grammy Happy Birthday. It was cute. Greg's mom bought a birthday elephant that sings the Happy Birthday tune and walks. Landon likes it a lot. He played the elephant several times and sang Happy Birthday to Grammy on his own. Of course when I got the camera out he didn't want to sing as much. We ordered in Uncle Julios (which is always good). Grammy asked for flan for dessert. I hear it was good, but I couldn't have any because of the dairy. Grammy gave us our Valentines. We got some picture frames that have all of the details from when the kids were born. We saw these at a craft show and really liked them.

Greg and I had to go to a funeral that day.  Our housekeepers son who had been helping clean the house for a couple years passed away of liver disease at the age of 30.

Saturday we went down the street to visit some new friends. They just moved in from California and have a cute little boy that's 2 months older than Landon. They found out today the are having a little girl in July which will be fun. The guys cooked out steak and chicken, and the made some garlic bread and a really good pasta salad. She was sweet to make a special version of the salad for me with no dairy. It's more difficult than it seems. fter dinner the boys decorated sugar cookies we had made.

Sunday Greg and I went out for Valentine's Day at Fogo de Chao. The food was great and I got a little bit of wine. I even got some chocolat dessert.

Today I started back full time. I actually worked from home because we had a new house keeper come in. She seems very good, and she even helps do some of the landry (towels and sheets). Speaking of, its fresh sheet night & Kasey's sleeping so I should be in bed.

Overall kids are doing great. We've all had a little bit of runny noses, but hopefully its getting better. Kasey seems to be talking and interacting more. She's doing really well holding her head up (has been for a while). She seems to be eating a little bit less and sleeping more sometimes.

Landon loves playing with his trains. He's doing really well with potty training. He still wears a diaper at night, but once he gets his underwear on he does well. We often set a timer to keep all of focused.

My First Day back at work

Monday Feb 2nd I went back to work after maternity leave.  I will work part time for 2 weeks and then full time for a week, and then I'll take the last week of Feb off because Greg will be out of town.

Monday was an interesting day.  I've been pretty used to getting up early in the morning to feed Kasey, but then I can usually sleep at least until 8ish to get some extra sleep.  That probably won't work very well going back to work.  Here's how the first day went.

Kasey got up at 4:45am that morning.  I fed her and got her back to bed in about an hour.  I got dressed and went to 6am aerobics class which felt good.  I came home and showered.   Kasey woke up pretty soon after I got home, but I was able to shower and get ready before feeding her.    I was able to eat breakfast, pump, and then get out the door a little after 8:45am.   I had to run by Landon's school on the way to work,  but got to work about 9:30am.

Landon was great.  Before Kasey was born he would often get upset when I would leave for work, and so it was easier on Greg if I was gone before he got up.   Monday he was up before I left, and when I was going out the door he gave me a big hug and kiss.  He told me that when it gets dark I would be home, and that I was coming back.  I assured him I would be back.    It helped a lot that he was so sweet and not upset.  He wanted to see me leave and watched at the garage door as I backed out.  Kasey seemed to be ok, and I knew she was in good hands.

Mondays Greg works as well so the kids were at Grandma's (Greg's mom).

I worked until about 2:30, and then went to Greg's parents house.  Landon seemed to be doing fine, but when Kasey saw me she gave me a look like where have you been all day.  I won't forget that look.  I know that she had been cared for, and she seemed to eat ok.  She hadn't slept much, and we're all adjusting to the new schedule.

At about 5pm I was pretty tired from being up since 4:45am, but I think the day went pretty well.    

Kasey's 2 month appointment

On January 29th, we went in for Kasey's 2 month a checkup.  She is growing like a weed.  She weighed 13 pounds, 1 oz (90%), 23 inches long (69%), and 15 3/4 head circumference (76%).  She was doing great.   She had a little bit of cradle cap, but just have wash some with Selsun blue to clear it up.

Because she still had a little bit of blood in her stool that week, they recommended that I stay off dairy for a while longer.   It's pretty hard to do, but I'll survive.
