Kasey 6 months

Kasey had her 6 month doctor appointment today. Everything looks great. She weighed 18 lb 3 oz (87% - down from 91%). She is 27 inches tall (88% - up from 83%). Head circumference 17.125 (79% - up from 69%).

Kasey is doing well. She definitely has fussy times and has some difficulty going to sleep depending on where she is and how tired she is.

She's wearing 6/9 month clothes, but they are starting to get small. She has a couple 12 month things that fit just fine. She's wearing size 3 diapers. Her hair is getting longer so she can wear a bow or headband. Of course she can now take off the headbands.

She's sitting up quite well. We still sit close in case she falls over, but she's doing really well.

Kasey also grabs at everything. She'll lean and reach to get just about anything.

She rolls from her back to front, but not front to back yet. She also likes standing sometimes more than sitting.

She's still eating only breastmilk. She'll start solids very soon. She will eat about 6-10oz during the day while I'm at work, and she'll eat with me early morning and multiple times in the evening. I'm still pumping at work twice a day.

Sleeping is interesting. She goes to bed between 9 and 9:30 almost every night. She had been pretty consistent waking up after about 7 hours of sleep to eat and then going right back to sleep. Of course this past week she woke up a couple times and thought it could be fun to stay awake. Greg and I weren't so thrilled. One night Landon woke up multiple times and Kasey wante to stay awake after eating. I'm sure we'll get it all worked out. I was reading back and Landon's monthly updates and he did the same thing at six months wanting to stay awake. He ended up in our bed when he did that.

Landon's 3 year dr appointment

We had Landon's 3 year doctor appointment today. It was a different visit than the others. They asked him questions about foods he liked, asked him to count. Also told us to start talking to him about strangers and about private parts. Can't he just stay a baby :)

Landon weighed 33.4 lb (66% - up from 59% at 2 years), and was 38 3/4 inches tall (77% - down from 83% at 2 years). His head circumference is 20 inches

Landon is very create and fun. He really likes playing outside. Today we were playing outside and he decided that we should sit on the bench and pretend to ride a train. Then he was kicking the soccer ball into his goal and he wanted me to sing the song that they play at FC Dallas games when the fireworks go off. I told him I didn't know the song. He then hummed the song for me. I still have no idea what it is, but it was so cute.

The last several nights Landon hasn't wanted to eat dinner. We pushed him pretty hard. At the appointment today she said it's normal for him to even stop eating dinner. Of course tonight he ate a huge dinner.

Greg has taken Landon to a couple FC Dallas soccer games. He seems to enjoy them, but wants to walk around quite a bit. He's very good at remembering things like what he sees at the games, what people tell him, about places he's been.

He's such a joy!

May 20

Landon went for his first bike ride on the street.  It's great weather so it's nice for the whole family to get outside.

Kasey started having allergies today. She has a little bit of a stuffy nose, and her eyes water quite a bit.  She still seems pretty happy, but hopefully she doesn't have bad allergies.

May 21

We got to go to Landon's school today for an end of the year party.  We got to have a snack with them, do an art project, listen to them sing some songs that they usually sing, and read a couple books.  It was fun and there were parents there for all of the kids!

We went for another bike ride, and Landon's friend Liam got to ride bikes with him.  Kasey had a ride in the 3 wheeler stroller for the first time.  She usually sits in the care seat stroller, but because she's sitting up well can start sitting in the bigger strollers.

Kasey started holding her own bottle more this week for the first time.

May 23

Greg had to do lots or yard work, Landon helped with his own rake :)

I had eaten Landon's birthday cake which had butter and milk, and Kasey seemed ok.   So I decided to see if ranch on a sandwich was ok.  Bad idea.  Kasey wouldn't go to sleep, got fussy and then got sick all over the place.  Back to no dairy for me :(

May 24

Kasey was taking a nap this morning so I got to give Landon a bath.  We got some bath letters out and he made me letter pancakes, scrambled eggs, egg (which aren't scrambled), and bread with a spoon, bowl and bath letters.  Very fun.  It doesn't get much better than that.   

We went out to lunch today and we put Kasey in the high chair at the restaurant for the first time.  She did pretty good.  We ate late so both kids were fussy by the end of the meal.

Landon got some games for his birthday.  We have tried playing several of them.  He seems to really like the Ladybug game.  We played it several times today at different times in the day.

Kasey decided that she wanted to hang out from 3 to about 5am this morning.  That makes for a really long night.  Greg wasn't able to go back to sleep which was pretty bad for him.  We did get to go see a movie on Memorial Day.  We went to see Angels and Deamons.  The movie was good, but we kept comparing it to the book which they changed quite a bit.

Landon's 3rd Birthday - May 17 2009

I can't believe Landon is 3!!!!

Landon started his birthday on Thursday.  Greg made cookies and brought them to his school for the day's snack. Landon got a Birthday nametag and he said they sang Happy Birthday to him.

Thursday night we started making the cakes.  We had to make cakes for Landon's friend party and the family party.   We had planned to make a train cake, and then Landon decided that he wanted a digger white cake.   We ended up doing both.  Greg made the cakes themselves, and I decorated them.   For the digger cake we made a 9x13 yellow cake from scratch, covered it in hand made chocolate icing, added a yellow construction ring around the cake, made a large green 3 and put a toy digger and dirt (crushed oreos that Landon and Greg made).   For the train cake we bought a 3D cake mold.  We ended up cooking 2 cakes in it because the first one didn't cook all the way and was ruined.     So we baked the 2nd cake in this mold and made 2 chocolate cakes in bread pans.   I made 1 chocolate cake into a tender and 1 into a station.   I spent probably about 5-6 hours decorating the train and tendor.    It was fun but a lot of work.  Saturday night I needed to finish the front of the train.  Landon wanted it to be Gordon and the face was really the most important part.  The train was on the table and Greg and I were doing different things.  Lady (the dog) decided to get up on the table and try the cake.  When I saw it I just screamed.   She had licked the icing off the front of it, but we were very lucky that she hadn't taken a large bite out of the cake or licked the entire thing.   I repaired the icing and did the face.   I didn't do a perfect Gordon, but Landon was happy with it and that's what's most important.  I was showing him the pictures on the computer that  I was using as reference.  He learned how to make the computer screen saver go off - he did this a lot during the weekend to make sure Gordon was up.   In the back of the steam engine there is a red box.  The picture is actually a square, but mine ended up being a rectangle.  Landon pointed out this difference to me.  Luckily he wasn't quite as picky about the face : )

Sunday we had 2 parties for Landon.   We had a party at Boomerang (a bounce house in Plano) with his friend.  We had several friends from his school, several friends from the TI moms group, and some other friends.  I think everyone had a good time, and we got to see the new babies of several of the TI moms.  

That night we had a family party.  Greg cooked out hamburgers (which were really good), and Landon got to open presents.   Landon got several fun games, books, and Thomas the Train additions.  He was so excited about the Thomas the Train stuff that when we brought his big present out ( a new bike) he barely looked at it.   This was ok because he had ridden it at the store 2 days before, and I knew that he would have fun with the bike.

Kids at TI - May 13, 2009

At TI they had a couple zoo animals to promote TI weekend at the zoo, and so I had my mom bring Landon and Kasey up to the office for lunch.  They got to see a big snake, baby alligator, some turtles, and a penguin.  We also got a picture of our group (the Linux marketing team) with the penguin.  The symbol for Linux is a penguin called Tux.

Mother's Day - May 10 2009

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.  Friday night Greg and the kids took me to Zorbas (our favorite Greek restaurant) for dinner with the kids.    Sunday we had Grammy and Gramps over to the house for lunch.  Greg cooked steaks on the grill which were great.  Grammy made a cobbler that I can have which is really good.   For mother's day I made for my mom, Greg's mom and me some plates that have the kid's footprints on them made into angels.   That night we went to dinner with Greg's mom and grandmother at Spring Creek BBQ.   I think we all had a good day and enjoyed the time with family.
