Landon's Room

Finally after having pictures to hang up in Landon's room for over a year, we finally hung them up. We did this January 4th, 2010. He was pretty excited, and I'm pretty glad how it turned out. Most of the picture I found at a craft fair. They are pretty unique so I really liked them.

One is like a board room with guys with crazy hair that are all different colors - Landon picked that one. The one in the middle is below closer up and is a maze of colors and objects. The one of the right has a keyboard on it in blue and black.

Landon and Kasey made these snowmen. Landon used a hammer and nailed the pieces together. Landon put the stickers on the outside 2, and Kasey put the stickers on the middle one. - 12/11/10

One night we (the 4 of us) went to an open gymboree class. Kasey acts like she owns the place and gets to play with the teacher's puppets. 12/9/10
I still remember a lot of the songs from when we went with Landon to Gymboree. We had a good time.


Greg and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this year on 12/16/10. We went to South Africa over the summer as our celebration trip. On our Anniversary, Greg sent these beautiful flowers to my office. We also went to dinner at Seasons52 in Plano and went to see Harry Potter.The family including Lady before Greg and I went to dinner for our Anniversary - 12/23/10

While we were in Odessa Kasey slept on the floor one night and on a mattress the next so we thought it was a good time to move her into a big girl bed. We made her crib into a toddler bed - 12/28/10


Landon is pretty excited about it, but he wants to get in her bed and she doesn't like so much. Of course she gets in Landon's bed all the time.

We have our annual Christmas dinner with the Steiners and Doug. This year we went to Tillman's Roadhouse in Oak Cliff. Food was good and we had a good time. Tracy is pregnant and due in July of next year!
New Years we went over to our neighbors to have dinner and play some Xbox Kinect. Below are pictures of the kids playing Dance Central - basically dancing. I played as well, but luckily there aren't pictures of that :) there is a video at the bottom of Kasey, Devon and Landon.

updates on the kids for January 2010

Landon got his haircut today and he sat in the big kids chair for the first time. He has before sat in the car shaped chairs.

The kids are enjoying playing together more. We've rolled balls back and forth to each other (I was helping Kasey), I convinced Landon to let Kasey play with one of his Cars characters while he played with all of the rest of them, and tonight they played with hot wheels moving them from one container to the other. They also play in the bath with various toys.

Landon finished his advanced aquatots swim class on Tuesday January 12th. He got a ribbon for advancing to the new level. He'll start the super aquatots next week. For the class he just finished he was able to swim 10-15 feet. He is doing really well going from the wall to the teacher, but still working on going from the teacher to the wall.

Landon is trying to push the limits more and more. The other night we took his blanket away for bed time. He survived, but didn't like it. In theory he learned that he needs to listen to us more. :)

We've started giving Kasey a little bit of soy milk with breastmilk, but she's still mainly drinking breastmilk. She'll drink about 5-7 oz of milk during the day and then I feed her twice at night. Depending on when I go to work I sometimes feed her in the morning as well. Weekends I still feed her.

Kasey and Landon got a little wooden chair that was their Great Great Grandpa's chair built around 1897. Kasey loves the chair. Every time we go upstairs she sits in it and rocks her legs back and forth.

Kasey is also doing the sign for cereal. She's getting to the point where if she sees something we are eating that she wants more than what is in front of her she just points at it and "whines".

Landon usually picks out a book to read before bed. The other night Kasey also decided she wanted to pick out a book to read. They both brought their books to Landon's room for me to read them. It was really cute. The book we read the most right now (Landon's favorite) is the Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark.

Kasey was at Grammy and Gramps and she went up to Gramps showing something was wrong. She lifted up her shirt and patted her butt (sign for diaper) to tell Gramps she had gone poopy and needed a diaper change. Later Grammy told Kasey to get her coat because it was time to go. She went and got it and took it to Gramps to put on.

At Grammy and Gramps house Kasey walked to Gramps in garage and he helped her walk into house and she turned around and shut the door.

Kasey seems to be understanding things more and more. Yesterday she did the sign for more for the first time when she wanted more raspberries.

Kasey got sick when we got back from our trip. Greg took her to the doctor because I thought she had an ear infection, and she did. Other than that she basically had fever a couple days and runny nose. She acted pretty normal (still playing). Landon then got sick after her. He had runny nose, fever and his eyes hurt him. I took him in for his eyes and they said he was developing pink eye.

Kasey is starting to listen to commands and understand. Greg was with the kids in Landon's room and he told Kasey to go get her blanket. She walked to her room picked it up and took it back to him. She also understands to do thing like clothes a door, put something into something else.

West Columbia, Updates & NewYears

West Columbia

We went to West Columbia for my Uncle Donald's funeral. We drove down on December 27th in time for the last hour of the viewing. The kids did well in the car. It was really good to get to see many family members that we don't get to see very often, but it was sad because his death was not expected. He went peacefully though which is always a blessing. This was the first time that most family members got to meet Kasey and most of them had not seen Landon in a long time.

I'm not sure Landon really understands, but when I told him that Uncle Donald had died and gone to heaven he told me that Oreo (Greg's parent's dog) had died and gone to heaven too.

I didn't take any pictures on the trip - obviously this is weird for me, but I just didn't feel that there were appropriate times for pictures. We'll have to try to get back more often.

Couple updates on the Kids

Kasey eating pieces of bread and biting off banana. Talking more - not really more words, but just babbling more. She is understanding more though. I can tell her to close a door and she will. I can tell her to put a toy or something into something else and she'll do it. She hasn't really picked up more signs, but will do milk and light sometimes. She's sort of done more a couple times, and at least seems to understand. Today she was trying to tell me that she had a dirty diaper. She was pulling at the gates to go upstairs and fussing and then finally touched her bottom like come on change me. We took Kasey outside to run around with Landon really for the first time since she's been walking well. She wasn't sure what to think of all the space to run around in. We turned Kasey's car seat around on December 30th so she's facing forward now in the car. She wasn't to sure about it, but has been able to sleep that way just fine. Kasey enjoys reading books on her own. Also recently she has also shown interest in coloring.

Landon is doing well. He's able to count to 30 or 40 now. He counted to 40 today pretty well on his own (we were counting the cherries from Hi Ho Cherry-o game- he wanted to make a cherry pie from all of the small cherries). With all of his Cars themed cars, I decided to see if he could start recognizing larger numbers. He does pretty good if he can figure out to read from left to right. He was able to tell me numbers like 86, 82, 95, 43.

The kids are starting to play together more. They will try to get toys out of boxes together, be silly together, laugh at each other in the car etc. At the same time Landon still doesn't want Kasey anywhere near his Cars toys or trains, but he insists on playing with her toys.

New Years

We had a fun New Years. We had friends from down the street (the Turners) come over. We ordered in Uncle Julios which is always good. Landon and Liam tried watching Madagascar while the adults talked over it, but that didn't last to long. They really wanted to play. I pulled out Kasey's quilt for Peyton to play on and Kasey was very excited to play on it as well. I got Kasey to bed and Peyton fell asleep, and the boys were playing nicely putting together a picnic. This was a little unusual because they usually compete for things or want the same toy all the time. Anyway this gave the adults some time to play pictionary which was fun. I think the boys wanted to play with us, but we couldn't figure out how to have them play. When we finished the game it was about 10:45 so we got some champange, and the boys got some apple juice so we could watch the ball drop in New York. After that the Turners went home and we got Mr Landon into bed. Of course Landon wanted to watch the rest of Madagascar :)

Christmas 2009

Christmas was a little different this year. Greg's Grandfather fell and broke his leg on the beginning of the week of Christmas so Greg's parents needed to leave Christmas morning to go help him out. My uncle Donald passed away on Decebmer 23rd so my parents went to West Columbia to be with family and help out. Usually we have Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas day with Greg's. This year we celebrated with my parents on Dec 23rd with Tacos for dinner and Greg's parents on Dec 24th to open gifts, and then we had lunch with Greg's sister and Grandmother at our house on Christmas day. We had a good time with everyone, but it was definitely different.

Christmas Eve we had to put out cookies and milk for Santa. We had a couple cookies left over that Landon had made that week. He wanted to add some sprinkles to them, and then leave some milk. He wanted to leave regular milk and not Soy milk for Santa.

Christmas morning, Landon came in our room about 7:45am and told us that he got something really cool and wanted to know if I wanted to come see it. Kasey and daddy stayed in bed for a little while as Landon and I checked out what Santa brought. Landon had asked Santa to bring him a small Christmas tree because the one we had (I've had it for many years) broke and couldn't be used. He said it was different than the one we had but liked it. Landon got a fire truck that turns into a city where a very small fire truck, ambulance, police car and a few other cars can do different things like fall into a bridge and someone comes help them. The parts on it are very small and some things broke pretty quick. Mom and dad weren't overly thrilled with Santa's choice this year :). Landon also got a cool Cars book that had a flashlight. The book hasn't been read much, but the flashlight and sounds it makes has been used a lot. Santa brought Kasey a little caterpillar rocker that sings songs and says shapes when you press them. She loves it. She also got a little soft barn that plays music and has animal pages on it that are touch and feel.

We did have a white Christmas though. It snowed Christmas Eve. From an article in Dallas Morning News, "The 3 inches recorded Thursday at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport was the first measurable Christmas Eve snowfall since the National Weather Service began keeping records in 1898." Landon and I decided to go outside and play in the snow Christmas morning - good thing because it melted soon there after. We enjoyed throwing snowballs, making snow angels, running in the snow, and pretending to follow maps that were made of ice.
