August 2014 Update

8/31 - We had to get up early.  We bought tickets for the Lego Fest.  We agreed to meet Dowdy's at the train station for 8:03am train.  Who's idea was this.  We made it with one minute to spare.

Landon and Mike sat together, and Kasey and Matt sat together.  They were looking at the map and talking which was fun.  We got down to the convention center about 8:45am.  We walked around the find the entrance and we got there just at they were opening up.

We went in and got some pictures with the big lego characters they had - Lego movie, Star wars, the hulk.  Always cool to see.  They first went to area with all one size green legos.  All the kids started building.   We encouraged them to keep looking around.  Kasey went to the Friends section and built a beach house with many windows.  She had fun.  We then went to look around.  Got a picture with Lego cinderella, and did a little building with Disney stuff.

Landon was building a car to race (one of his favorites), he build something in Chima which is a new favorite, he played in Star Wars area and he built a guy in heros.  They both go to build a square in nations section where it was put inside outline of the USA.   There were several sections and a store and book area.  It wasn't huge but kids had fun.  I think Kasey got a little bored at the end.  Landon would have stayed there all day building if we let him :)

Afterwards we headed back to the train.  We stopped with the Dowdy's at Trinity Hall for some lunch and a few beers.   We all had a good time.

We got home.  Kids watched a little TV while Greg and I took nap.   Then kids got ready to go to Grammy's house.  They packed and got ready.  I took them over while Greg took a little nap.

We weren't sure if we were going out, but we did.  We walked around Downtown McKinney for a while and ended up at the Mellow Mushroom for some pizza and drinks.  Then we headed to Solis' house to visit and have some wine with friends.  We didn't stay out late, but it was a nice evening.

8/30 - We  could all have slept in but of course Kasey was up at 6:18am. Ugh.

Boys went to soccer practice at 9 and Kasey and I went up to the park to walk patch and play on the playground.  Luckily Mattie Grace was there so Kasey had fun while I walked Patch.

After showers we went to Elkes.  Kasey wasn't feeling great but ate pretty good lunch.  After lunch I got a few hours to do shoe shopping.  Patch had chewed up another pair of shoes so I went shopping.:)

That afternoon Greg went with the boys to Jerry World to tailgate and see OK State play Florida State.  Kids and I went to get pizza, dessert making stuff and watched movies at home.  Kasey watched Second Hand Lion which I love, and Landon and I watched the Avengers which was good.

8/27 - Kasey showed us how they learned to draw humans - not stick figures.  She said it was also exciting that they got numbers on their cubbies.  Funny how much more she shares :)

8/26 - Both kids had good days again at school.  Landon had soccer practice in heat.  Kasey said they were talking about what math is and that she was the only one that knew that it was about math.

8/25 - First Day of school.  Kasey was up putting her shoes on before Landon was even up.  They were both excited.  First day Greg and I both walked the kids in.  We took Kasey to her class.  Got a quick picture and let her go.  She was excited and up for fun so we were ok.  Then we took Landon to his class.  He went straight in and put his stuff up.  We had to ask for a hug.  They both did great and had a good day at school.   They were really excited.  Landon really likes his teacher Ms Swan and likes his class.

Kasey got blue which is really good behavior.  She said a few kids were yellow for not listening.  Kasey said at Recess she was playing the bell on playground and getting a bunch of people to play drums while she played bell.  She said it was awesome.

8/24 - Last day of summer.  Greg set his alarm so we could start getting up early.  i asked him why the alarm was on.    We slowly got up.   Kids watched some TV, cleaned up some.  Greg walked the do while Kasey and I showered.   Then we headed to Bonnie Ruth for some brunch.  So yummy!

After brunch we walked around a little bit and let the kids play at the park.  They played the xylophone and drums and ran around some.   We were about to leave and there was a fire truck behind our car so we walked around some more.  kids walked down to see the ducks and tried finding the baby ducks.

We headed home to rest for a little while.  Kids were a bit whiny.   Landon did some reading and kasey wrote her lower case abcs.  Both took some pushing.   Kasey likes to do things on her own time, and Landon hasn't found another book series he likes.

Then we headed to the pool with friends to spend the afternoon.  We had fun playing, talking with adults and spending some time outside on our last day of summer.  Then we went home to shower, and then went for quick dinner at  Torchy Tacos.  Then we came home for movie night.  Kids and I watched National Treasure 2.    We got kids in bed and set their alarms for the first day of school.

i can't believe Landon will be in 3rd grade and Kasey is starting Kindergarten.

8/23 - Today was our first day starting to get back into sports.  Landon had morning soccer practice. The boys were at practice and Kasey rode her bike to the park and Kasey rode her bike.  She rode around quite a bit and I wore Patch out walking around the park.   We headed home after practice.  Everyone showered and we went to Elkes for lunch which is always yummy.  We then came home and relaxed for a few hours.  Kids watched one of their shows and played some xbox.  Greg and I relaxed in the bedroom reading and looking online.  

Then it was time for baseball.  Landon had his first game of the season for baseball.  This is kid pitch (modified so coach/Greg pitches if kid pitches 4 balls) so the game really changes a lot.  Landon played 2 innings of catcher which is tough in the heat, he sat out 2 innings and played left field 1 inning.  He only batted twice.  He got a good hit off coach pitch and scored first time.  He struck out the 2nd time.  When he was playing left field he ended up missing a pop fly, but then got an out at 2nd to end the inning.

After baseball we headed home for showers and headed to dinner with Doug and Steiners.  The kids are so funny together.  After dinner the 3 of them went to look at desserts.  Dave and Tracy brought some Ouzo that was made at home from their extended Greek family in California.   We shared a few shots with the owner.  He said next time we come in to give him 2 days and he wanted to share a special dessert with us.   We had fun.  Boys talking about a few boys trips.  Tracy and I talked a little about kids going back to school.   Fun time with friends.

8/22 - Kasey used to like sugar cookies and her favorite color was pink.  Now she likes blue which Landon says the only reason she likes blue is because of Frozen.  Now she likes chocolate chip cookies.  Funny to see how things change.

Landon really likes fajitas a lot.  He seems to not like a lot of other food, but he usually ends up eating pretty good.  Landon is pretty good about trying new things at least once which is good.

8/21 - Tonight was meet the teacher night.  We first went to Ms Savitch's class where Kasey was going to be.   She has a friend from her soccer team Ovni in her class but doesn't really have any other friends.  She was excited to see her classroom, find her cubby, she got to meet a few of the boys in her class.

Then we went to Landon's class.   He has Ms Swan.  The seating was interesting.  Landon between Carter and Boone.  Dylan Christensen was across from him, Micah Gadd down a few seats, and a few other girls.  Will be interesting how quickly that changes.

We headed to the AIM room to get sheet and drop supplies. We got to say hi to Ms Szeryk.  We showed Kasey around the school. She got to say hi to Ms Benton (her friend Davis') mom, the music and art teacher.

After that we headed out to grab some dinner.  We went to Mi Cocina

8/16 - We had a busy day.  Started off with Kindergarten Ice Cream social that I had planned (which was the same time as Landon's baseball practice).  Invited all families of kindergarteners for some ice cream, meet each other and see what the PTA is up to.  My guess is that we had 30-40 families there which was a pretty good turn out.  It was fun to see friends and meet new friends.

After that we went to Elkes for lunch.  We often go there Saturdays but with all our travel we probably haven't been since before Greg went to World Cup.   They had Greg's coaches badges since last time we were there.  

We were going to do some shopping that afternoon, but ended up going to the pool with friends which was a lot of fun.   It was the day we get teacher letters so at one point Greg and Jason went to look for letters and grab and adult beverage for us to enjoy at the pool.   We had fun.

We came home and all showered.  Then we went to Splitsville for some dinner and bowling.   I didn't bowl very well.  Kids were funny.  Landon would sit on the floor 1/2 the time after he bowled.  Kasey would run and throw the ball.  They have good music there so Kasey was doing some dancing.  Fun family day!

8/11 - We had to get up, get ready, breakfast and get out of our room by 8:30am.  We got off the boat pretty easily.  We had our luggage so didn't take long at all.   We started heading north not long after 9.  I was originally going to work on the way back , but I was tired so I slept instead.  Gramps had gotten up about 3:30am so he was tired too.

We made it home. Greg and kids were out shopping so I took a little 30 minute nap.

We ended up going to the pool for a little while and relaxing which was fun.

8/10 - I finally got to sleep in til about 9am.  It was our last day on the boat.   We got up and got ready.  Went to dining room for breakfast, and then went to look at which pictures to buy.  After that we went to find everyone.  We found Debby who had been looking for us.  They were doing a grove fundraiser for St Jude.  We paid our $10, got tshirts.   Then all 7 (without Nina) headed to the Love and Marriage game.  Always funny seeing questions asked for newlyweds, few years married and other couple was married 44 years.

After that I went to do country line dancing taught by one of the dancers on the ship (Greg).  I had done one earlier that was learning now to do thriller dance - which was fun.  The country line dance was fun as well.

We did some relaxing that afternoon, got ready for dinner and headed to casino area to listen to some music and try out the tasting bar (most days had little snack before dinner).

There was a band playing good music - overall the music on the ship was great.  We had our last dinner which was great as usual.  This time the staff asked us to get up and dance with them.  Nina, Ayla and I danced the chicken dance and macarena which was fun.  Somehow before dinner we couldn't get mojito because multiple bars were out of mint leaves.  We joked that we had had to many which is why they were out :)   At dinner they had mint leaves.   So I had wine, a mojito since we couldn't get them anywhere else, and a port.

After dinner most everyone went to their cabins for a bit before the show.  Debby, mom and I walked around and sat near casino to listen to music and watch one of the photographers take pictures of ladies and families.

We all met at the theater for the big show.  It was like a broadway show about New Orleans. Ayla wanted to sit up front so we all did.  One of the new entertainment guys Keanu was sitting right next to us.  He helped us take pictures of all of us, and even got in one of them.   A few things were a little borderline for kids, but overall it was a good show.  After the show we went back to our rooms for a few minutes.  It ended up being just Nina and I going out.   We got a drink at Alchemy and then tried to find a seat for the comedy show but didn't have any luck so we went to the piano bar to enjoy some music.   After that we went to the dance club for a little bit.  We had a drink and watched everyone dance.   We didn't want to stay up to late so about 1:30 we headed upstairs for some pizza.   It was earlier than we usually go up there.   There was a really hot guy with his girlfriend up there.  We had to help them get pizza and had a few drinks.  Then Keanu came up so Nina and I talked with him for a little while.  We ended up going to bed early about 3 - early for this trip.

Overall we had a great time.  I feel like I got to act like a 20something year old, and I think we all had a great time.

8/9 - It was Cozumel day.  We were meeting at the pool with a slide at 9am.  Little early when you were out til 4am.  Mom stayed on the boat, but the 7 of us were going to Paradise beach.  We grabbed breakfast, and tried to head off the boat.  I understood incorrectly where to go.   I found Chris and asked him for directions where to get off the boat - he was up til 4 as well but he had to start working at 7am.   We found our way off the boat and headed to taxis.   We had to walk through many shops to get there.

We found a van to take us to Paradise Island.  When we got there it was basically pay $3 up front and they asked you to buy $10 each in food/drink.

We got a few drinks, put on some sunscreen and got in the pool.    Great huge pool.  We were one of the only ones there early.    We relaxed in the pool.  Debby and I got a bucket of beer, other adults got mixed drinks.   It started to rain a bit, so we went under cover and had a bit to eat.  We had free wifi so we were able to text and I tried calling Greg which didn't work great.  We had a great time relaxing.  Brittany, Lindsey and Ayla went to the beach for a bit and got on trampoline and tried one of the big slides.

We had to be back to boat at 3:30 leaving at 4pm.  We headed back early afternoon so we could do some shopping before going back on board.  We all found something to buy of course :)

We got back and it was almost time to get ready for dinner.  We watched people on dock for little while.  Got dressed for dinner, and headed to Casino bar for a drink.  We had a good dinner again.  After first night the wait staff was singing to us, 2nd night I think they got up on the stations in middle of dining room and danced for us.  They did a little something every night.

There wasn't much going on that night.  No big show, no comedy.   After dinner we ended up at the Alchemy bar.  Debby and I wanted a Manhattan.  Nina and mom ended up getting chipolte pineapple martini which was pretty good.

  

We did several things that night.  Went to the piano bar for drink and listen to guy at piano.   Grammy got him to play a few Elvis songs.  We had fun singing along.  I think we went to the dance club for a little while after that.  Debby and mom decided they were going to go get pizza.  Nina, Cheri and I stayed at dance floor for a while. Then we decided to go up there as well.  Mom and Debby were still up there.  We had a few drinks, some pizza before going to bed.  Nina, Cheri and I decided to go exploring.  We found the kids area and tried to hollihoop, Nina was riding on kids scooter thing.  Then we went to play some basketball.  We weren't very good that late :)   After that we headed to bed.

8/8 - Even staying out of course I woke up at 7:30am, what's up with that.   I took a much needed shower, then rested some til 9ish.  Mom and I went to the dining room for breakfast.  I had huevos rancheros which is always yummy.  They had good bread, juice, mom liked the coffee.   Majority of people on the cruise were from Texas which is always fun.  

We headed to the pool after that.  Everyone else was already there.  Debby was reading, Brittany, Lindsey, Nina and Ayla were in the pool and Cheri was reading and sunbathing. We sat with Debby in the shade for a while.  Then we got a bigger table when it was time for lunch.  On board they have Guys burgers which are really good.  Mom, Debby and I got them with yummy fries like they have at Snuffers.

I went walking around the ship some, looked at pictures, looked in shops, listened to some trivia.   Before dinner Cheri, Debby and I went to a trivia thing.  Guess who was leading it - Ginger.  He commented when Cheri and Debby got there.  When I got there he yawned so I asked if he was tired or something.  He said he had a late night.  Then mom walked in.  He tells everyone that he had shots with Grandma last night.  Made mom smile.That night for dinner we all got to sit together.  It was formal night so we all got dressed and took a picture with all of us.  Then we headed to dinner.  It was lobster night.  We had lobster and shrimp.   

After dinner we decided to do comedy again - at least to see the lady.  We learned from the night before we needed to get there early.  We grabbed a drink and walked to a club playing latin music.  There were several ladies in there dressed like old ladies.  They pulled Nina and I in dancing.   They were there celebrating their friend's 50th birthday and wanted to make her feel better by dressing like old ladies.  They had on wigs, old purses, hose to their knees, sweaters, one lady had toilet paper in her shoe and her dress tucked in her underwear with toilet paper.  Needless to say they were fun group.

Then we went to get seats for comedy - I think we changed tables like 5 times.  We had some drinks and enjoyed the adult comedy.  After that Debby, Cheri decided to go to bed. Mom, Nina and I went to listen to some Motown, and then mom headed to bed as well.  Nina and I decided to stay up.   Several of the staff were out that night because a few of them were celebrating birthdays.  We went to the dance club for a while, great people watching, did some dancing.  Then about 2ish we headed to pizza place again.  After a while Chris, Ginger and some other guys came up there.   Ginger was leaving the ship the next day so we bought him a few shots.   Interesting discussions.  We told Ginger goodbye and went to bed again close to 4am.

I told Nina on the way out, we should just jump in the pool in our dresses.  Sounded good.  It was netted off so we didn't.

We got to our floor and Nina said there was a really cute guy on the end we were on - she said he was behind the door for employees only.  We tried looking through the door - there was like 1/4 inch to look through.  We couldn't see anything but we could hear people in there and tried to see them.   There might also been some movement of door decor, but I didn't see anything :)

8/7 - We got up early to go on girls cruise.  Mom, Nina, Cheri, Debby and I were all going on short 4 day cruise.   Aunt Mary was going but had some health issues and needed to stay home.  We were sad and missed her.  We were making good time so we headed to Conroe to meet up with everyone else.   I logged in to send emails and we headed to the marina.  We took a picture and headed to Galveston.  It rained some on the way down.   Traffic wasn't great either.  It was late when we got on.  The lines were long, and I complained that I'm not used to traveling where I have no status :)  We were going on Carnival which mom and I weren't to sure about, but we were excited to be with everyone.  We finally got on and decided to go get some lunch.   Guess who we saw.  Brittany, Lindsey and Ayla surprised us.  None of us knew they were coming.   We tried to go get all of us together for dinner but they were getting ready for emergency practice so we couldn't find anyone.  I went down to put my credit card on my room card.  Mom got our luggage in room and the boat took off.  

It was time for the emergency drill.  We had to go down stairs 2 flights.  Mom had a little trouble, but was making her way.   They told us we could sit in dining room instead of going outside for drill.  That was nice to sit and not be in the heat.

That night at dinner we talked to Maitradee to try and get all of us together.  We ended up sitting that night with the 5 of us at a booth with me on the end.  We could see the water out the windows out the back of the boat.  We had a great dinner, some good wine.  Several of us had molten chocolate cake which was great.

That night they had 1 show at 7:30pm so we headed to the show.   It was dancers and singers from the ship, but was fun.   We decided to go to comedy after that.   The guy who did introduction was a cute guy from Australian named Chris.  He made funny jokes and introduced the comedians.   There was a lady who was hilarious talking about her 4 kids and how life is.  The 2nd comedian was a guy.  He was ok, but we liked the lady better.

After the comedy clubs we went to the dance club for a little while.  Got a few drinks.  Nina, Debby and I did some dancing.    Then somehow we ended up at the Casino bar.   We were all 5 sitting at the bar.   We decided to do a shot.  Note that mom said earlier in the day she wasn't doing shots.   I suggested she do buttery nipple which she liked - who doesn't.   Then somehow we ended up doing multiple blow jobs (the shot).  We were laughing, the bar tending was taking our picture and we were discussing whether or not you should use your hand (when taking the shot).   After that it was almost 2am and we decided we needed some food.   Only place open was the pizza place on Lido deck by the pool.  Guess who else was up there - Chris from the Comedy thing.  We got some pizza and sat at the bar where Benjamin was bar tender.  Chris was there with his roommate Ginger who also worked in Entertainment group as well.  We all started talking and Ginger decided to buy us a shot.  There was some confusion that only 4 of us wanted a shot, but mom ended up wanting one as well.  So Ginger says, Grandma wants one too.  Ok, he got one more.  We had Chris and Ginger's favorite shot - Woo Woo.   We then bought him a fire ball.   Debby and mom went to bed and Nina, Cheri and I went with Ginger to the front of the boat to see stars and moon.   Staying up til 4am became a norm for Nina and I.

8/6 - After being back at work for 2 days it was time to go back on vacation :)   One of my colleagues drove me to work.  Then at lunch I told the guys I had to finish a meeting and I would meet them at lunch.   I went to leave and couldn't find my keys because I didn't have keys or a car.    I ended up taking train to Plano - of course buying ticket I missed the train and got to stand in heat.  Anyway Greg and kids picked me up in Plano and we headed to Grammy and Gramps for tacos.   They left me there because we were leaving early the next morning to drive to Galveston.  

I stayed up late working trying to get things done.

8/4 – Time to head home.  We got up and all got ready.  Kids watched TV for little while then played for a little while.  Matt was driving us to airport then going to work so we left early.    If traffic gets bad there aren’t always alternate routes to take so we wanted to make sure everyone had plenty of time.

We got to the airport in plenty of time.   Got checked in, had pizza one last time, did a little shopping for New York Souvenirs  and then headed to the gate.  No free Wi-Fi so everyone was playing on electronics disconnected.

We’ve had a great trip.   Landon’s favorite things were visiting Pennsylvania and visiting friends.   Kasey’s favorite thing was seeing friends.  We got to see a different part of the country, experience New York some, and see friends we haven’t seen in a while. 

8/3

We were going to head out to beach area, but it rained in the morning and was actually a bit cool.  Lisa made French toast, eggs and bacon for breakfast.  The kids played for a while and we headed out about lunch time.  We went to Lyman’s Orchard.  They had a big store and deli so we got sanchwiches and stuff for lunch.  It was great day so we ate outside.  After that we headed to sunflower maze that the kids were really excited about.   Kasey asked Greg to go in with her then the 4 kids took off with maps I’m not sure they used.   The sunflowers were tall so we couldn’t see kids much.  We could see Greg’s head every once in a while.   They were pretty excited when they got out.

After the maze we went to pick your own places in the Orchard.   We started with Blueberries.  We had several buckets and started picking blueberries.   Kids had fun finding good ones and putting them in the buckets.  We ended up with about 3 ½ lbs of blueberries between all of us. The fresh blueberries are really good.

Next we headed to pick your own peaches and nectarines.   We only picked peaches.  Kids had to climb in trees some of be lifted up to get some good ones.  They weren’t quite ripe, but will be there soon.

After that we went back to the store for a bit to have some fudge and go potty before heading back to the house. 

When we got back the kids kept playing outside.  It was a great day.  Greg and I had some wine and I went on patio to read some and enjoy the weather.

Lisa and Matt made salad, kabobs and baked potatoes for all of us.  This time the adults got to eat outside and kids ate inside  J.  Dinner was great.  Landon and Patrick were exchanging Baseball stickers for the books they keep with player stickers each season.  Kids played some more and then took showers.  

  After their showers all 8 of us played Texas Hold’em.   It was fun to see how kids would play.  Kasey, Patrick and Katelyn played with parents.  Greg helped Landon some but he played his own hand.   We had fun.

Then it was time for kids to get to bed.  The adults then got cheesecake – yum.  We stayed up talking a while about vacations and kids.   It was fun.

8/2 – Greg and I slept in some and of course kids got up pretty early.   Matt and Lisa went for a run very early and the dogs let us know when they left. 

We ended up having a pretty relaxing day.  It was raining in the morning so we didn’t head out like we had originally planned.   Kids were getting a little stir crazy in the afternoon so Matt and Lisa took all 4 kids to play putt putt.   They had a great time.  Landon won and was excited about that.  Greg and I relaxed and went for a walk while they were gone.

After they got back we got ready to go out to dinner.  We headed to Milford, Connecticut for some sea food.  It was a nice little restaurant and food was good.  We all had some Calamari and Matt, Greg and I split some oysters with horseradish and  caviar on them which was really good.  Greg and I split stuffed lobster and scallop risotto.

After dinner we headed to little area by our cars.  It had a really small sand beach area and several rocks for the kids to climb on.  They had fun running around, throwing things and climbing on the rocks.  We got some cute pictures of them.

We headed back to the house for some yummy cheesecake that Lisa had made.  It had Oreo crust, cheesecake and chocolate top.  It was amazing.

After that it was time to get kids in bed.

8/1 – We got up little early so we could go to Top of The Rock in NBC building to see the city.  We got there about 8:20am which was great because there weren’t to many people there.   We got tickets and headed upstairs.   It was neat to see the city from so far up.  We could see Times Square, Football Stadiums in New Jersey, Statue of liberty, World Trade Center building, Empire state building, Chrysler building, our hotel, Central Park and many others.   We got to see stuff from several levels, then we headed back down after we got picture of all of us.

We headed back to hotel to pack and get final shower.  We got ready and took a Taxi to Grand Central Station.  Kasey was really tired and whining all morning.  It was cool to see center area like was in Madagascar.   We looked through the shops a little, headed down for a little Mediterranean food.  I got a tea from Starbucks then we headed to our train.

There were several dogs on our train which Kasey loved.  Kids and Greg played on ipads.  I wrote blog and read some.  Nice to relax a little before seeing Allens.

We got there and Lisa, Patrick and Katelyn picked us up from the train station in Stratford.  It was about 20 minutes from their house.  We went back to their house and the kids took off right away to go play.  We didn’t see them until dinner time.  We hung out and chatted and kids played all kinds of things.   They went outside some.

Lisa made a great dinner for all of us.   Kids ate dinner outside and we sat inside at the table.

After dinner we got kids showered and ready for bed.  Landon slept on Patrick’s top bunk and Kasey slept in Katelyns room on her trundle.   

July 2014 Updates

7/31 – We got up and were heading to Staten Island.  A friend of mine suggested doing the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty rather than being at the statue with so many people.  We thought this was a good idea.  We got to get a good view of the statue of liberty.  We got off for a little while and hung out for about an hour.   We got in line early for the Ferry back so we could be on the correct side for good Statue of liberty pictures and good pictures of New York skyline.  

Once we got back we did a few things for adults.  We went by NY Stock Exchange and Wall Street.  We had lunch and a really good dive pizza place called The Grotto.  We had pizza and some pizza rolls.

Then we headed to 9/11 memorial.  I‘m really glad I got to see it.   Greg had gone a few years before, but I had not been there.  The main part of memorial is huge whole in ground for both buildings.  There is water running into each one, and the names of all the victims are on top area of the memorial.  There is also the new very tall tower which is still being worked on.  

We walked out of the area, and then decided to have Uber come pick us up.  There was a crossing guard lady that really liked her job.  She called Greg something like big and handsome so she let us cross without anyone else there.  It was fun to watch her direct people and traffic as we waited for the car. 

We headed back to the hotel for a few minutes.  Then we promised the kids we’d take them to Lego and American Girl Stores.  Kasey and I went to American Girl while Greg and Landon went to Lego store.  Our goal was to make Christmas lists and not buy anything.   Kasey picked out the doll she wanted, its dog, some accessories and clothes.   We have a full wish list now.  Landon picked about 15 legos for his Christmas list.   Fun to see them excited about something. Kasey had only seen American Girl in a magazine.   They store was 4 stories and even had a hair salon for the dolls.

After meeting up again Greg and I felt like a beer, Kasey wanted Ice Cream so we found a Pub that had both.  Kasey go some vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and Landon got a molten chocolate cake (one of my favorites).  Greg and I had some cold beer.  Landon still wasn’t feeling great, but was ok enough to have chocolate cake J

We were all pretty tired but there was a Smith and Wollensky’s Steak House around the corner.  Kids and I went back to hotel to relax and Greg went to pick up dinner and bring it back to hotel.  We had a great dinner in our hotel room.  Landon even ate some.

After that kids showered and we let them watch movies for a little while before bed.  Greg and I just relaxed some with our bottle of wine he had gotten at restaurant.

7/30 Today we headed to New York.  We had a great time with the Turners.  We really enjoyed spending time with them, visiting their new home in beautiful neighborhood and driving around to see and visit some cool places. 

Just took us to New Jersey to a train station.  There was a little building there which basically had a few benches and bathrooms.  There was an outdoor platform with a few benches.  We waited there for our train got New York.

We to New York Penn station a little after noon.  We decided to try out Uber – car service that picks you up and takes you somewhere.  They already have your credit card and tip will already be in bill – they just email you a receipt.    We ended up waiting a while because traffic in that area was bad.  But a big Yukon picked us up and we headed to the hotel.

We were able to check in and get settled a little bit.  We were staying at the Kimberley hotel.  We had a nice suite with King bed for us and separate living with fold out couch for kids.  It also had a little kitchen and eating area and even had a balcony to hang out on.   We decided that we would go to Central Park.  We walked there from 50^th and 3^rd so it took a little while.   We walked up and decided to take a short carriage ride in the park.  The guy showed up amusement park (kids rides), 5 baseball fields that back up to each other (they all share same outfield), the Ghostbuster buildings, kids petting zoo and few other things.  It was a nice little break from walking.    After we got off carriage ride we went to the Central Park Zoo.  We walked around and saw the animals.  It was small zoo, but pretty cool.  At the end they were playing with the sea lions.  They were doing tricks, having them wave, put their heads back, make noises, play with balls etc.  it was fun to watch.   Some of them would get up on edge and then splash on the way back in water.

After that we went to childrens zoo.  There were goats, lama, cow, pigs.  Some of them you could feed and pet.  Some like the cow and pigs you could just see.  Kids seemed to enjoy this.

When we were done we went out the back of the zoo area.  We grabbed some ice cream and sat down for a little while. The kids wanted to climb rocks in central park for a little while so we did that.  We headed towards Time Square.   We went by bigger playground and some more rocks.   Then we walked to times  Square.   We took some pictures and decided to have dinner in that area.   We decided to stop at an English Pub – people walking out said the food was good.

Landon wasn’t feeling well so didn’t eat much.  Kasey had some fettuccine Alfredo, Greg and I had few good beers. He had fish and chips and I had Shepards Pie.   We had some left overs we took to our hotel.

We got back gave kids quick showers and got them to bed.  We were all pretty tired from walking so much.    I was still reading little after midnight.  Landon came in and said he had just gotten sick.  Poor thing.  We had to call in housekeeping for new bedding, changed both kids clothes.  Landon showered.  I ended up sleeping with him which was good.  He got sick one more time in trash can.  Then felt better and slept.

At our hotel there was a cool night club on roof.  There was dress code so I had to put on sandals and a dress to go up there.  I got us a 7 and 7 to enjoy.  

7/29 – We slept in some because we weren’t heading out in the morning.   We kind of took it easy.  Had a late breakfast, showered and got ready to head to the beach.   We stopped in town for lunch – had some yummy pizza.  We stopped at Kmart for some beach toys, boogie boards and flip flops for the girls and I.   Then we headed to New Jersey shore to hang out.  It was about a 2 hour drive.  Kids watched Cinderella on the way there.  We got there, paid to get on beach and headed to our spot.  Set up little tent, blanket and several chairs.  Greg went to go get a few drinks and kids and I headed to the water.    Landon wanted to boy surf and boogie board.   I got in to help him some.  The waves were very close to the shore so there wasn’t a ton of room to boogie board.  The waves were also coming in waves (I laughed  when we were there too).  There would be little waves then bigger waves.  Over time I even tried to boogie board some.  I got thrown around several times – scratched up my foot, knee and arm.   Lifeguards were whistling at us.   Landon got to ride a few waves, and kept ending up with shorts filled with sand.

Kasey was playing mainly out of the water, and only wanted to go in when I was in there with Landon.  The water was chilly but not to bad once you got in.  At one point Justin and Greg were pulling kids around on the boogie boards.  Catching the last part of waves and pulling them around by the cord.  Kids had fun with this.  All 4 kids did this some, but Landon is getting to heavy for that kind of stuff.

Kids also made some stuff in the sand.  Landon made what looked like a stadium.  Liam later made a sand angel right next to it.

Kasey and Peyton also made a few things but they did it closer to water so the waves took their creation away.  It was getting later and we had a few hours’ drive back.

We ate dinner at Chipotle, and then headed back.  Kids watched Cars even though they didn’t really want to.

We got kids in bed when we got back to the house.

7/28 - We got up early to shower and get ready.  We were headed to Hershey Pennsylvania for the day.  We got there got special parking to get closer.  We headed first to Chocolate World for the free tour.  We went through a ride that told you how chocolate was made.  It was pretty cool.  Then we headed into the park.  We had to measure the kids to see which rides they could go on.   The girls were Reeces Peanut butter cups and the boys were Hershey's chocolate - Landon was right on the edge for the next one.

We headed inside and spent the day riding rides.   We got the kids on some of the roller coasters that were bigger.   They boys weren't to sure about them, but the girls were having a blast.  They loved the water log ride and went on it like 10 times because they had to take turns being in front.  When I went with them the first time Peyton rode in front.  Kasey told me that she was better at steering the boat because Peyton hadn't had much practice.  So 2nd time that we went Kasey got in front.  She turned to Peyton and said don't worry I'll steer us.   They got to do a few midway games.  The dads won doggies throwing baseballs for the girls.   Kasey named hers roller coaster and Peyton named hers Hershey Kiss.  Landon was sad he didn't get one.

At one point Justin and I went on one of the big roller coasters called the Bear.   It was one that you hang down and went upside down and swirled a few times.  It was great.

It was funny to see pictures off the rides.  We all went on big on called super looper that had one loop that went upside down.  Boys didn't really like the loop but Landon loved everything else.   Jessica and I decided to go on one of the big rides.   Justin took Landon on super looper again (they sat in front) and Greg took other 3 kids on the log ride several times.

the one Jessica and i went on had a huge drop right at beginning and went like 75 miles and hour.  The harness on it was only in your lap and you were not seated a lot of the ride.  First time I rode it my phone was in my pocket and I was holding it worried that it would fall out.  crazy intense ride.  we met Justin and Landon and I convinced Justin to try the other one.  I left my phone with Jessica.   Crazy ride but it was fun.

After that it started raining. We all got pretty wet and started heading out.   We went to Red Robbin for dinner.  

We sat adults on one side and kids on the other.  After arguing with Landon on food to eat and it taking a while for them to bring gluten free menu all was good.

After that we headed home for 2 hour drive.   Kids stayed awake watching the Lorax.. Kasey feel alseep after the movie and Jessica and I took little naps.

We got home late and got kids in bed as soon as we could.

7/27 - Of course kids still got up really early.  Landon got up and my kindle said 5something in the morning.  I told him to go back to bed.  It was 6something where we were but still early.   Greg and I got to sleep in some.   

 We all got ready and headed out into town.  We started at a really cool castle park.  The kids had a blast.  It was fun - like 6 stories that you climb up and then slide down in various ways.   Kasey even got me up in there - really meant for smaller kids and not adults but I did it anyway.

After that we headed to little creek behind the castle.   The kids were walking around in water - didn't even come to their ankles.  Of course Landon fell in a few times and got all wet, and was upset that we didn't have change of clothes.

Leaving there we went to lunch downtown.  We had to walk a little ways but it was great weather and fun seeing older architecture.  We were able to get a table outside on the porch for lunch.  We had good lunch.  The kids ended up playing Rock, paper, scissors for a while.  They got a little rowdy

Then we walked back to the car.   We headed to a neat ice cream store.  We all got ice cream and we headed to lake to hang out and eat our ice cream.  Kids were throwing everything they could find into the like, but ice cream was great and it was very pretty area.

then we headed back to get changed into bathing suits.  We headed out to the river with some drinks and snacks.   We found a place to sit.  It was pretty slick on the rocks in the river, but kids had a great time.   It was beautiful area with an old bridge up top and moving river.  Everyone got in the water some.  We stayed for a while hanging out.  Kids were getting tired as we tried to get them changed for ride home.

We got back to house and made hot dogs, hamburgers and corn on the grill.   We all had yummy food and then got kids in bed.  We had a busy day the next  day.

7/26 - We were ready to go on family vacation.   We had to get up early to get ready, Greg took Patch to Janice's house, and I got kids and most of house ready.   Greg had made muffins for us, and then kids helped some with putting up dishes and such.  We got out the door just before 8:45 to drive to Grammy and Gramps so they could take us to airport.   We didn't have much time.  Kids gave them hugs and we headed to the airport.

Once we got through security we found a seat and got some lunch to eat on the plane.  Kids were hungry already.  We had bulkhead seats which is not my favorite.  Kids and I on one side and Greg across the isle.   Landon was pretty whiny, lost his ipad for a while.   We ate lunch, and all read, watched movies and played games.  It was long flight for kids, but ended up ok.

our first stop for vacation was to visit our friends the Turners that had moved away about a year ago.   Liam and Peyton did not know we were coming to visit them.  Justin picked us up at the airport and we had to drive the long way because there was a big wreck the short way.    

We got there and the kids rang the door bell to say hi.  Liam and Peyton weren't sure about it but they were all excited.  The kids basically walked in and took off to play.   They had a great time doing all kinds of things.

We stayed at the house, had a great dinner that Jessica had made.  It was so nice outside the adults ate dinner outside and then when kids went to bed we sat outside having drinks and talking.   Great to catch up with old friends.

Kasey started out in Peyton's room.  She got up and needed to go potty and didn't know where she was.  Justin brought her downstairs where we were and I took her to the bathroom.  She said the fan in Peyton's room was to loud and she wanted to sleep in basement with Landon.   I took her mattress and covers downstairs and she went back to sleep.

7/25 - We were leaving the next day for 9 day family vacation.   None of us were packed and I had to work all day.   Very unlike me but we had been busy.  We got everything washed, and then as kids went to bed we got all their clothes together.  Greg and I did the same.  We got it all done, but normally I would have at least 1/2 the stuff laying out already.   Our luggage was falling apart so Greg and I got some new luggage buy one get one 1/2 price at Samsonite outlet.  Yea!

7/19 - We let the dog sleep out of her crate.  At one point in the middle of the night she was moving her head against me and started licking me.  Silly dog.  Of course at 7am she was up wandering around ready to go.  Greg got up with her.  I slept in til after 9am.  Felt good.

We took Patch for walk in great weather, and then headed to Grandma and Pops to go to lunch for Greg's BDay.  We went to Spring Creek and had Greg's favorite dessert at the house.

On the way home everyone except me driving fell asleep in the car :)

7/18 - I had a few work meetings cancel so I was able to leave work a little early.  I went to where Landon was in camp.  He had been working with computer programs to create a glass house, design a pool - it was 3 stories, with his partner they created a villain and a hero, and his partner created a house. They created an animal and did a little video for the song of their land.  It was pretty cool and neat to see the creativity.

I took Kids to Grandmas because we were having BDay dinner for Greg that night.   Kids wanted to play on their ipads in the car, but I made them talk to me most of the time.   We talked about restaurants Landon did and didn't like.  Landon thinks its not fair when things start becoming adult only - Like Taste of Addison did.  We used to go every year and now its not for kids anymore

Kasey remembered that one day we got up early, went to Plano and watched the hot air balloons take off from Plano Balloon festival - this was a couple years ago.

Funny what they remember.

We had decided to go to a Brazilian place for dinner - World Cup crew missed it.  Dave, Tracy,  Juan, Marissa, Doug and one of Marissa's girlfriends were there. We had really good Caipirinhas to start the night.  As well as really good warm cheese bread (Pao de Queijo).  Yum.   We sat down to eat.   A few of us had a little salad and then the meat started coming.   it was great.  At the end a few people got LimonCellos - not my favorite, but some like it.  

Juan & Marissa had to go pick his parents up from the airport.   We were finishing up when they got back so we all headed to Shops of Legacy for a drink.  Its July in Texas and it was in the 70s outside.  It was great.  a few people were cold.

7/16 - What a day.  I was asked by my boss to help present some of our demos to the TI Board of directors.  I was presenting wearables.  I had like 5 watched on, I got to tell stories about using watches for World Cup to see scores or another watch was used for the referees to know when goals were scored.  Anyway, I was presenting to the BoD who are all basically CEOs of various companies as well as the Executives of TI.  I got to meet CEO Rich Templeton - as he was walking out he said Thanks Dana.  He might remember me later, but I thought it was cool.  Anyway, great experience.   We spent more than 1/2 day mainly waiting for them to come by, but it was worth it.

That evening Greg picked me up and we met Doug for coaches night to hear coach Sumlin talk.  It usually takes forever to get to his talk, but is still a fun time.  Good BBQ, few beers and lots of Aggies :)    

7/13 - Greg and I got so sleep in a little.  We got up in time to take Patch for a walk then showered and got ready to go have brunch at Blue Mesa to celebrate Greg and Gramp's birthdays.  Blue Mesa is always good buffet and of course we eat to much.    After brunch we went to Grammy and Gramps for a little while.   Grammy, Gramps, 

Landon and I played bowling on Wii.  Then Landon, Gramps and I played 9 holes of golf on Wii.  Gramps won golf but we had a good time playing.

Then we headed home to get ready for world cup final.  It was sad to see it end.   Argentina vs Germany was a good game.  Germany scored later in the game to make it 1 to 0 but it was a good game.  Greg made caipirinhas that were pretty close to what we had in Brazil.   Such good memories.

Kids were tired so we picked up quick after the game to have quick dinner at Panera.

7/12 - We had pretty easy day.   World Cup 3rd place game was on.   I went to do a little shopping, kids played and Greg watched the game.   That evening we took kids to Grammy/Gramps to stay the night.   Grammy made tacos which we always love.   She also made Hershey bar pie.   After eating some Greg and I headed out.  We went to Total Wine in Plano.  We've lived in dry (no alcohol sales or wine and beer only) places so long it was kind of weird walking through a huge place for only beer, wine, and liquor.  Cool place.  Then we headed to an adult only party.  One of friends from Landons school was turning 40.   Had fun hanging with friends, having some drinks, being silly in photo booth.

7/5 - We had pretty lazy day.  With kids up so late for fireworks and FC Dallas game, we told them they couldn't come downstairs til after 8am.  They actually didn't wake up til after 8am which rarely happens.

Kids watched something while Greg and I slept a little longer.   We had muffins for breakfast as we watched the start of the Tour De France.   We got ready late.   Took Landon to a friends house and then Kasey, Greg and I went to lunch at Twisted Root.    

We headed back, Greg took Patch for a walk and Kasey and I headed to the pool.   We had fun singing songs, playing and swimming some.

We were about to head out of the pool and some friends from neighborhood came in.  Greg went to get Landon and brought him back to the pool and we hung out.  Landon was playing keep away with a family that Landon played basketball with the son.   Kasey was playing with some of the girls that turned into them all jumping into the pool at the same time.  Kasey was directing :)

We headed home for kids to shower and went to get quick dinner at Freebirds and got a treat at Bliss (cupcake and cake pops).  By this time is was time to get Kasey home to bed.

I can see Landon growing up before my eyes.   He still watches some cartoons, but he's started liking more grown up movies and tv shows.  He's started watching Guys Grocery games (one of the local restaurant's owners (Elke) sons was on it and won - which was cool to see).   His favorite movie is National Treasure.  He's learning to play poker with us and really enjoying it - still a lot to learn, but its fun family activity.

7/4 - We had a pretty simple 4th of July.   We had some breakfast around 9am, slowly took showers while Greg watched Patch.  We watched Germany/France World Cup Game. At half time I took kids to Target and to grab fast lunch.  After Germany won, Greg and I at least took a nap.  Then we all played poker for a little while.  Landon is very excited to learn how to play poker.   Then Brazil vs Columbia game came on.  Greg and I watched and the kids kept playing poker.  Then they had tea with several stuffed animals.

After the game we had quick bite to eat and headed to Frisco for the FC Dallas game.   We walked around the square for a while.  Landon wanted to do dunking booth and he ended up dunking the Frisco Mayor.  Then kids got snow cones.

We headed to the game with the 4 of us and Doug.  We got drinks and popcorn.  Then we headed to see the Solis' to say hi.  We sat with the Steiners for a little bit as well.  FC Dallas won the game 2 to 1.  WE went back to our car to watch the fireworks since it was so late for the kids.  We got out pretty fast, and kids were asleep before we got on the highway

7/3 - We had dinner the 4 of us and agreed to go to Grimaldis for some Pizza.   Somehow the topic came up that Kasey is going to marry her friend Davis and that they are going to have 2 children named Daynin  and Kayla.

That evening we said prayers.  We prayed for friend who lost his dog today, and prayed for family because it was anniversary of one of my cousins passing.  I told Kasey that his mom and sisters are sad and miss him. Her response was Mommy please keep me forever.  Can I always live with you?  I asked her if she wanted to get married some day and have her own house.  Her response was that she thought Davis would like our dog Patch.  She quickly realized and commented that Patch probably wouldn't be around when she gets married.   

June 2014 Updates

6/16 - Kasey had her first sleepover with Mattie Grace.  Kristina was helping out because I had early meeting.  She had fun playing, but said she didn't sleep much.  She had good breakfast, Kristina made her breakfast and lunch.  Overall fun, but she was really tired the next day

6/15 - 6:30am Kasey say Mommy should we let Patch out.   No Kasey we can sleep a little longer.   We got up, got Patch out, I got a shower and started to get both of us ready.   i never got make up on and Kasey had a few pretzels on the way out the door for breakfast.    Kasey didn't want to get dressed, didn't want to do her hair, didn't want to go to recital.  It was a fun intense morning.   i couldn't find bobby pins for a while.  finally got Kasey dressed, put just a little make up on her - she didn't want eye make up at all so we did a little blush and lipstick.   Kasey was crying, Patch kept eating klennexes, i was stressed in heals and sweating.  Needless to say we got out the door on time (barely) made it to performance hall, parked just right and got to dressing room.  I was able to get front row seat to video the practice performance.  of course the seat I picked one of the other girls blocked Kasey 1/2 the time I was filming and I couldn't move.  I think she did great in both ballet and tap.  

After practice we went to Grandma's met up with Grammy, Gramps, Landon, Cindy, Carlos, Grandma and Pops. Grandma made a great brunch for us to celebrate Fathers day before going to Kasey's recital.   Grammy brought meats and Cindy brought Cinnamon rolls from West, Texas.  Carlos was letting kids watch basketball videos and had them hiding and finding Easter eggs (with Christmas bag).  It was cute to watch.

We all headed to Kasey's performance.  Watching 4-5 year olds perform an hour of dances was pure torture to Landon.  He would rather be doing anything else.  they had a few older girls perform and he said those were better.  Kasey had a great performance.  She was very excited.  She got flowers from everyone.  She got a trophy from dance studio.   She had fun.  We decided to go celebrate.  We went to sonic for milk shakes - partly becuase Landon was pretty good and tortured and partly to celebrate Kasey doing a good job.   We headed home to let Patch out, cleaned up some.   I had been trying to get the kids to watch Neverending Story forever.  I loved the movie when I was younger and thought at least Landon would really like it.  I made (meaning I warmed up what Greg had cooked for us) dinner and we watched.   There is a part a little way in that the horse of one of the main characters dies.   Both kids started crying - great parenting moment (Landon later woke up with a nightmare about it).    In the end Kasey was scared in a few parts but Landon liked it as I thought he would.    Got Kasey bathed and ready for bed.   We did a little face time with Daddy and Kasey went to bed.
Landon and i had to get everything ready for Twilight camp and baseball camp the next day.  Everyone got to bed and I was back working for a while.

6/14 - i got up Saturday, went to Starbucks for iced chia latte and scone.  Went to get my hair cut then went to pick up kids.  we had lots to do. Had some fathers day shopping to do, needed to eat lunch and get the house cleaned up.   We went to Grammy's house for dinner for early Fathers day and to drop Landon off for the night.   We had tacos which are a family favorite for sure.   Kasey and I had to get up early the next day for Dance recital rehearsal.   On the way home Kasey brought up that since it was just the two of us it made sense for her to sleep in my bed.  Hmmm

6/13 - Landon didn't have camp on Friday.  He went to a friends to play for a while.  Grammy and Gramps got Landon from his friends and Kasey from camp, let Patch out, had lunch at McDonalds and then headed to their house for rest of afternoon.   They ordered in Pizza.  I went by after leaving work late for 30 minutes to get a bite and tell kids goodnight.  Kids were mostly to busy but glad they were having fun.   I had a very long week at work getting ready for my big launch on Monday working very late nights.  It was nice to have an evening to myself watching a cheesy movie from Amazon Prime and having some wine.

Patch generally goes to bed when Greg does between 11-12.  I usually am up later than he is.  Well when its just me I let her stay up later.  Of course she's asleep  calm then wakes up after 11:30, goes outside, doesn't want to come in, starts barking.  Silly dog.  I need to start putting her to bed earlier.

6/11 - Greg left for Brazil today.  He dropped kids off got everything ready and headed to the airport.   We had neighbor from down the street who just graduated from high school helping out pick up kids and play with them while I worked.

6/7 - Started off the day with baseball playoffs.  Boys were playing a team that had beat us before.  Unfortunately we lost the game.  Boys played hard, but couldn't hit and made some error fielding.  Landon had a pretty good game though.  He got an out playing 3rd, he caught a fly ball, he assisted getting an out at 2nd.  He got a double and a few singles and scored multiple times.  The boys were very sad they lost.  Coach decided to treat the team and siblings to ice cream at 10am.  It put a smile on their faces.

We went to lunch after that at Elke's.  Kasey had been eating all day - yogurt for breakfast, popcorn at baseball game, ice cream, then she ate all macaroni and cheese at lunch.
Then we went back to hang out a bit.  We went to neighbors graduation party for a little while - we ate some snacks again.   Then boys went shopping, I took Kasey to a birthday party and did some shopping of my own.  Of course Kasey had some dinner and cake there.

I picked up the boys from shopping, we went to get Kasey and headed to FC Dallas game.  We stopped at Jakes for dinner (Kasey was finally full and just wanted lemonade and gum) and to watch the USA soccer game.  Then we headed to FC Dallas game.  They actually won 3 to 2.  Doug was there so kids had fun bugging him.  Needless to say they fell asleep on the way home.


6/6 - Landon's last day of school.  He got some awards.  The school puts them in a white envelop and sends them home - I don't like that.  He got honor roll and something called Technology Titan (we don't know what that is).  He also got perfect attendance and an ART award (which not to many kids in grade get).  We are very proud of him.


6/4  - Landon's end of school party was today.   i worked from home and Greg and i went up there for the party and to help out.  It was pretty hot so most of the moms ended up in the shade fanning ourselved with plates.  

I went back home to work.  Kasey had a birthday party.  I was on a call when i went to pick her up, and I forgot to put patch in her crate.  luckily she didn't tear anything up.   After getting Kasey I went to get Landon from baseball practice.  Greg was pitching and needed to stay longer.

6/1 - we drove back home which was fun.  Kasey watched movies and played games, I worked most of the time, Grammy drove and we listened to a lot of Billy Joel on sirius XM.

We got home hugged grammy/gramps and headed home.   Kasey and I cleaned a little bit, put our bathing suits on and headed to the neighborhood pool where the cubscout pack was hanging out.  Landon and Kasey had fun in pool for a while.  then we got out and got ready to head to the baseball end of season party.  We grabbed some food.  The boys played a few games while parent chatted then they played Nuke between the boys and the dads.  The dads won a few times, but the kids won the last time before cake time.

the boys got nice gifts of Yankee baseball necklaces, and the coaches got bats with stands with their names on it.  Very cool.

World Cup Trip June 2014 Brazil

 Greg went to Brazil for longer than I did - he left June 11th.  He went with Juan, Marissa, Doug and Dave.  They started in Rio - had a great private one day tour with a lady that lived there.  They got to eat at great places and see some cool stuff.

They headed to Natal for the first US game against Ghana.  The US won which was great.  They were on the beach there and mainly hung out watching soccer and spent some time on the beach.

Then they headed to Manaus.  This is a city in the Amazon several hours from other locations.  They started out that the tour they had booked was not booked for them so they did a tour from the hotel.  On boat ride their boat ended up catching fire which ended up being a mess.   The game was crazy hot.  While it ended up being a good game (even though US tied with late goal from Portugal), they were ready to get out of Manaus.   To the point that if something didn't go right we now say that you have been Manaused.

After 2nd game they headed to Recife to meet Tracy and I.

Here is when my trip started

6/20-21  Day 1

Kids and I slept in til almost 7:45am.  We had to get Kasey to camp by 9am.   I made cheese eggs because I had promised Kasey I would.  I told Landon we could go get a donut after we dropped Kasey off at camp.  We dropped Kasey off, saw Kristina and Carter to say hi.  Landon and I got donuts at place near the house and took them home to eat so we could let Patch out.  Landon watched some of Fantastic 4 then we took Patch for a walk.   I had to shower and get ready and finish packing.   We left with Patch, crate, Landon and Patch's stuff for the week and headed to Grandma's.  Patch tried to eat one of the birds in the back yard when we got there.   Then we headed to get Landon to Maxum's house.   Boys were going to Twilight Camp and then Landon stayed the night with Maxum since they got back late.   Then headed home to close up the house and get ready to leave.   Packed Grammy and Gramps car, went to pick up Kasey from her last day at Enchanted Tea Party camp then we headed for the airport.    Grammy and I got to meet Miles Austin (he was very nice) - just got in from Cleveland and was waiting on his wife.    I was there early and decided to repack so that I could carry on my luggage instead of check.   Got through customs.   Grabbed a Chai Tea Latte and some water and headed to the admirals club.  Tracy and I met there.  We had champagne and the game was on, people were asking where we were going which is always fun.   

Almost the last people on the plane were 2 people in first.  They wanted me to switch  to window seat (not my favorite) so they could sit together.   I agreed.   Man sitting next to me was going to World Cup with his two older children.  They were staying in Recife and going to a few games there.  Flying to Miami was almost 3 hours.  I got dinner and a warm cookie :)  when we got to Miami Tracy and I  headed to the admirals club for a glass of wine.   i called and talked to Landon for a minute at Twilight camp.  He had found  a grasshopper friend and named him Copper.   He was having fun.  Courtney Neighbor sent me a picture which was nice.   After a drink and some research we walked to our gate.  I was in business and once again asked to switch seats so a couple could sit together.   At least I was still on aisle.   Guy next to me was with his parents - they seemed to not know how he got into business which seemed odd.    7 hour flight, left about 10:30pm Dallas time, had a late dinner of manchego chicken and of course ice cream sundae.    I watched about 2/3 of American Hustle.   They went to sleep.   Slept on and off til they started waking people for breakfast.   Got off the plane, through customs quickly then went to get our ride.   we had a private car with driver who took us to hotel.  almost 45 minutes.  We both fell asleep in the car after not sleeping much on the plane.   We got to hotel and had to wait  a bit to get our room.  Room was not great and not air conditioned.   the window only had shutters and no glass.  The hotel grounds were very nice and the beach was across the street.  we took quick showers and headed to the beach.  We had beach chairs and an umbrella with some good shade.  Very relaxing.  It was still morning because we arrived in airport like 8am or so.   We ordered a few caipirinhas and had lunch out there.  Took little naps read etc.  People coming up all the time on the beach trying to sell stuff.  Boy came up painted scenes on a tile with paint and his finger.  We bought one each and they were pretty amazing.   

Started getting cooler so we walked up and sat in area they were showing games - Germany/Ghana tie game was on.  After game we went upstairs to  change and go to Village for dinner.  $5 taxi ride.  We walked around and found a cool place playing music to have dinner.   They didn't speak English or have English menu but we tried it anyway.  Food and wine were really good and they turned on next game while we were there.  We had to use google translate to order water and wine.  After dinner we walked around more, several local stores and some restaurants.   Then we headed back to hotel.  We sat by the pool in great weather with 1/2 bottle of wine.  they had entertainment and dancers who came over to talk to us and ask questions - We couldn't understand each other because they didn't speak English and I don't speak Portuguese.   we then went to call kids and sleep in hot room.

6/22 Day 2

After going to bed about 11:15pm we woke up about 9:20am - figured we needed to get up for breakfast that went til 10.    Neither of us get to sleep that late :)  good breakfast.  We Facetimed with the boys and chatted over text with the kids.   We complained about the air, booked a Dune buggy tour and then showered.  We had time so we went to patio by the beach.   Ordered caipirinhas.  Tracy was reading and I was writing blog as we listened to the ocean.  Very relaxing

So about 1 we went to our Dune Buggy tour.  We started out going by few beach hotels which looked really nice.  The driver took us to a beach area where there were tables and chairs set up right on the beach by the water.  Area called Muro Alto Cupe.  We sat down ordered a few beers and some shrimp for lunch.   It was really good.  We didn't really feel like getting in the water but the people watching was very entertaining.  People there from all over.  

We left there and drove back the other direction past our hotel.  To get to the next area they had to let us through a manned gate.  It was like we were driving on someones property.  We drove right by a little house which several people were in.   We ended up a little area on the water where they were giving little boat rides.  Area was called Portal De Manacaipe.  It was 20R each for boat ride so we said OK.  We got on little boat with benches for 6.  2 Croatian gentleman with their sons were on the boat as well.   They live in Argentina and spoke Portuguese and English.  The area was pretty.  Almost as soon as we left the shore it started raining.   The driver who was pushing the boat with a big wooden pole, pulled us over to get under little shelter.  Rain came down pretty good but only lasted a few minutes.  The area we were in was a mix of salt and fresh water.  We could see the ocean from where we were but were in water ways surrounded by land with different trees and bushes.  We saw several crabs on the land which was cool.  It was peaceful and beautiful.  Near the end we stopped by side and the boat drivers caught 2 sea horses and a baby crab.  we all got pictures with the sea horses and I got to hold the baby crab.  I could tell that when he got older his claw ends would be sharp.  Then we headed back.  We went through the village some on the way back to the hotel and then along the beach in Porto de Galinhas.  It was really pretty and overall a great day.

We got back and decided to go for a swim before heading to village to watch the game.  So relaxing just being in calm pool and chatting.   Felt great.  After swimming we got ready and went down to complain for 3rd time about our AC not working.  They agreed to change our room.  So we got packed quickly and moved rooms.  We turned the air on left to head to the village to watch US Portugal game.  We got to a Pizza place just in time to get a table up front for the two of us.  Several other Americans were there.  We got a big group picture that one of the guys was supposed to text me, but I never got.  They had TV projected on wall so it was nice.  We got some beer and ordered an appetizer (which took us over an hour to get).    The atmosphere was great.  Portugal scored first and was only score in first half.  At half ESPN sent me an update on my phone that US has never won a game when they are down in the first half.   Great stat thanks ESPN.  In 2nd half (64 minute) Jermaine Jones (who was having a great game) scored and amazing goal.  It looked like the ball bent around players then back in to score.   Place where we were went nuts.  Chanting USA, USA. High Fives everywhere.  Then 81 minutes Clint Dempsey used his body to score to put the US in the lead.  The crowd went wild.  Awesome! Hugs, high 5s, chanting USA.  This was amazing until 5 seconds before the end of 5 minute injury time Portugal scored to tie it.    After all the emotion and huge game being a draw made it feel like a loss.   As we left I told the guys next to us we were going to walk off the loss (even thought technically it wasn't a loss).  We had a guy from Mexico who lives in LA who was in Brazil on his own sitting with us.  He was very nice and his name was Juan.   Tracy and I left and decided to get some chocolate crepes - Yum!   Amazing people watching.  Lots of people from US and Mexico walking around the streets.  One US guy was wearing gold shiny pants.  One Mexican guy was wearing full mariachi uniform and hat.  He had to keep putting his beer down to take pictures with people.

We headed back to the hotel.   Very excited our room was cool and we had multiple power outlets.   We went to the poolside for a drink to end the night.

6/23   Day 3

Alarm had to wake us up at 9:30am - Breakfast ended at 10.   Went for breakfast, took a shower, put bathing suits on and headed outside.   Meanwhile the rest of our crew is sitting in a plane in Manaus waiting for landing clearance in Recife.  I think they are ready to get here and Tracy and I are ready to see the guys after almost 2 weeks

Tracy and I relaxed, got some lunch, and decided to have massages.  1 hour full body massage hearing the ocean and having wind cool with calming Enya music.  It was just right.   Then we showered and got ready for the guys to get there. 

As the guys were arriving there were 3 big buses and a small one coming to our hotel.  Of course their bus was last.   Tracy and I got in check in line before they got there because it was getting long.  They got there, filled out forms, checked in, moved my luggage to new room with Greg and got settled in room.   Then we headed to the village for dinner.  We found a great place to eat Gotta De Rua.  Great food, good atmosphere.  Then we headed down the street to the water and found a place to have a few beers right on the water.  We could hear music, see boats and do some people watching.  On the way back to Taxi's we got a few fun pictures.   Then we called it a night.

6/24 Day 4

We slept in til 9:30 just in time to get up for breakfast.  We got bathing suits on and headed to the beach.  

We started walking on the beach down toward the village.   Of course it started to rain 1/2 way there so we tried to take cover under over hang for a few minutes but it didn't last long.  We headed back to the hotel.  When we left all the chairs and umbrellas at the hotel were being used, but with the rain when we got back it was pretty empty.  We decided to have a seat and have a few drinks.  Rough life - sitting on the beach, listening to the waves, having drinks brought to us.  Doug wasn't feeling well so he went to his room.

We decided to head to town for lunch and to watch games.  We found in village that most places showing games were packed because the game had already started.   We finally found a place to eat but didn't have the game showing.  We split a bunch of appetizers including rice and beans, shrimp &  fish clusters.   Yum.  After lunch we decided to walk down the beach.  Juan found a guy that got us chairs, few tables and served us beer.   Again back to rough life chilling on the beach with good friends.

We decided to catch the later game.   We found restaurant Villa Brasil that Tracy had dinner at the other night and got out of the rain to have a drink and watch.  It was raining so hard the satellite TV feed went out for a while.  We unfortunately had some really bad wine.  We decided to move on.

We searched for a while for somewhere to eat dinner and finally agreed on restaurant for dinner.   It was buffet and churrascaria.  The food was ok, and Greg decided he wasn't eating.  He was on a 2 meal a day kick.

We headed back to hotel and decided to have a few drinks.  They were playing live music which was great.  some of the staff and others were dancing along.  Dave, Tracy and I all got in the pool for a bit before we called it a night.

6/24  Day 5

This was the day to go to the ponds at low tide.  So we woke up early, had breakfast and headed to town before 8am - that was early for us on this trip.   Of course it was raining.  Greg, Marissa, Tracy and I got in a cab and realized we had all the money with us.  The other boys made it and we headed to the water.  They had little boats for 6 people - 20R per person to go out to reef, feed fish, use masks and get in the water.  Since low tide you are basically walking on coral reef.  Saw several sea urchins - even got to hold one.   Saw few crabs and several fish.   We got fish food for the ponds so they all come up to you.  you could see beyond the coral reef where the waves were breaking.    As we fed the fish Greg and Dave were trying to touch and catch the fish.  It was pretty cool.  We got back on the boat and the driver pulled us to another area.  Marissa, Juan, Greg, Dave and I got in the water with masks.  We were feeding fish right in front of us.  We had masks to see under water even though you couldn't see very far.  Greg was Trying to catch a fish in his shirt.  Dave and I would put food near his chest and he would try to catch fish that came up.  He caught one that got away before we could get a picture.  Then he caught another one that Tracy got a picture of.  The boat driver was shaking his head at us :)

After our boat ride we went to beach to our friend from the day before.  We had umbrellas, chairs, drinks and beach.    Of course on the beach everyone is selling all kinds of stuff - food, drinks, jewelry, clothes, kits, etc.  The guys there hung a USA flag for us (or so they said).  They knew exactly with tide when to serve us lunch - we had great shrimp and Juan/Marissa had fish.  then they moved us back as the tide came in.  

We came back to change and freshen up.  Tracy, Dave, Marissa, Greg and I went to same place for dinner since it was so good (Gotta De Rua).   I wasn't feeling great but was still good.

6/25  Day 6 Game Day

So 3am I got woken up by heavy rain coming down.  It started sometime in the night and kept raining.   We got up early, grabbed breakfast which was crazy then got ready for the game.  As it was pouring rain outside I opted to leave my hat in the room :( and bring rain gear.  We were supposed to be in lobby at 8am to catch the bus to the stadium.  Stadium was about 22 miles from the hotel and in normal traffic could take about an hour to get there.   Buses started arriving after 8am.  Our group had 4 buses.  2 got there before 9am and left.  Ours got there but didn't leave til about 9:30am.   We were supposed to have someone on the bus to tell the driver where to drop us off and where to go.  She wasn't there yet and we kept hearing traffic was really bad (on Twitter).  The bus driver only spoke Portuguese so our friend Juan had to translate with him.  We left with out the guide.  The driver had been told to take coastal road which helped for a while then we ran into few spots that were flooded (up to peoples waists).  Cars couldn't get through.  Of course traffic was really bad.  It took us 3 hours to get to the stadium.

It was still pouring rain and game was about to start.  We didn't want to run but were walking fast.  Greg and I had to walk around to the other side of the stadium.  We were soaked when we got to our seats, but we were up high so our seats were covered.  Some in our group had better tickets closer to field, but they were in the rain the whole game.  The US lost to Germany 1 to 0, but luckily Portugal beat Ghana so the US & Germany went on to the next round.  On our way out I exchanged my USA scarf with an older German gentleman that was very nice.  After the game rain had slowed some.  We had 1 1/2 to 2 hours before our bus got there.  We hung out, took some pictures, and had a few beers.

We finally got on our bus about 2 hours after the game was over.  There was major traffic and even with driver going on the side of the road some, it took us 4 hours to get to the hotel (just 22 miles).   After that day we went straight to the hotel restaurant for the buffet for dinner.  We had on more drink by the pool and headed to bed.

6/26 Day 7 Heading home

We got late check out at 5pm since we were leaving on bus for airport at 6pm.  We all slept in headed to breakfast about 9:30am.  We decided to go pack and go to the beach some.  Greg and I were first ones on the beach.  We got umbrella, chairs and ordered a few caipirinhas.  Dave, Tracy and Doug (he was finally starting to feel better) came down.  The boys started playing football then...  it started raining.  We went under cover.

Marissa came down ready to go to village shopping.  I went to change and Greg, Doug, Marissa and I headed to the village.   We did some shopping, and headed back to restaurant we'd had lunch at before.  Doug hadn't been out with us for few days because he wasn't feeling well and had sinus infection.   We got Gambus, fried shrimp, pastels, rice and black beans, and some beer.  While at lunch it rained a little more.  we did more shopping and headed back about 3 to shower and finish packing.

Ready to head downstairs for one more caipirinha and check out.   As I walked down stairs with my luggage the top handle broke.   Well the side handle on this luggage was already gone and it was packed to check.  As we ordered drinks we started unpacking  the suitcase to see if it was fixable.  It was.  I went to check out and Dave was helping ask for a screw driver.  It was getting close to time for the bus to leave and people were getting on the bus.  My clothes are all over the table by the pool waiting on the screw driver.   Greg was about to try and fix it with a spoon  when the screwdriver showed up.  Greg fixed the suitcase we repacked and headed to the bus.

The bus took about an hour to the airport - with a few times the driver went off road to get out of traffic.

We were quite early so we checked in, did a little shopping, and headed upstairs to grab a bite to eat.  Greg got some cheese rolls and I got a ham and cheese pastry.  They were both really good.  We decided to head through security to try and facetime with the kids - we all missed each other.  We got to talk with them a bit but still didn't have great connection.

Juan, Marissa, Doug, Greg and I got chair massages.  They were ok but did some deep tissue which Greg and I think just hurts.

Then it was time to get on the plane and go home.  We were in business so that helped with long travel.

When we got to Miami, some of the group took showers.  We just headed to the lounge.   Got a snack, morning drink, did facetime with kids, Greg watched season finally of Game of Thrones, and I read my book.  Then we headed to our final leg.

We got to Dallas and headed to luggage area.  Juan and Marissa's daughter was there, Doug's brother and nephew were there, my parents were outside with kids.  Greg and I walked out there and kids ran up to us.  That's always been one of my favorite things from long trip is seeing those faces and getting a big hug when we get home.  They helped us get luggage and headed home. 

May 2014 updates

5/31 - we took it easy in the morning with breakfast, showers and getting ready.  Then we grabbed some lunch and went to the Marina to see Uncle David/Old Grandpa and Cheri.  We had lunch there and visited, then we were headed to Brazoria for the wedding.  We got to town, went to CVS and Walmart looking for an Apple Charger.  then we realized we had a while til the wedding.  We went to Sonic for a drink and drove around a little bit before going to wedding.


the wedding was very nice.  Simple but pretty reception that was very nice.  We got to catch up with family, have cake and punch, let Kasey run around, and then blow bubbles at the newlyweds.
Then Grammy, Kasey and I went back to Lorenda's for dinner and fun evening.  We had some great food, good catchup with family and Kasey and Peyton got to play.

5/30 - We slept in a bit, I worked a bit, we chatted a bit, and then we drove to meet Greg half way.  We ended up meeting in Buffalo.  Kasey was going with us to the wedding, and Gramps was headed back to Dallas with Greg.   We headed back to Aunt Mary's for the night.  We had good left overs.  

Uncle David was playing golf so came in late.  Kasey went to bed almost on time and we decided to watch a girls movie - We watched Failure to Launch which is really fun movie.   Mom and Mary and I also watched The Big Wedding which was good too.

5/29 - I got up at 4:30am after going to bed about 1am to get to the airport for my flight to Houston for Aunt Georgia's funeral.  I left in enough time to get there, but the security line was really long.  I ended up running to my flight and got there just in time.  Mom and dad also woke up at 4:30 in the morning to come get me at the airport.   I kept thinking running to the plane, my mom is going to kill me if I don't make my flight.  I made it and my parents picked me up. We went back to my parents hotel for little breakfast, and then headed to West Columbia.  We got there early so drove around to where my parents had lived, and we drove to Brazoria to see where we were going on Saturday for our cousin Natalie's wedding.

We had a nice service, went to the grave site, and then headed to church in Brazoria for lunch.  It was good catching up with family and seeing people we don't get to see often.
After lunch we drove back to Conroe for the night.  We had some good snacks, I got to have a few Manhattans.  We had good fajitas.  Then that night we played a game called Smart Ass.  We had a good time, lots of laughs!

5/27 - My aunt Georgia passed away today.  She was such a big part  of my childhood.  We went to her house every time we went to visit my dad's family.  We spent many Thanksgivings there.  She cooked for huge group, the whole family would come over at some point.  We would also usually celebrate my grandmother's birthday there which was fun.   She will be missed a lot by all of us.  It was good to see family, but sad time.

5/25 - Sunday we rested some more, and then went to have pool party with neighbors.  As we walked over there the rain clouds came in, and it rained for a while. The kids ate and played inside for a while then we all went outside.  the kids played in the pool, moms had yummy margaritas, and the dads chilled out talking inside.  We all had a good time.

5/24 - Another mom and I were texting through the day about how our boys were doing.  They both woke up sick in the middle of the night.  They talked about it on the phone.  then the sisters talked on the phone.  It was cute.
we've been doing electronics all day which we never do.
We had to cancel Landon's friend party unfortunately so we just hung out.

5/23 - I was about to go to bed after midnight.  Landon calls down, mom I threw up.   I told him to go to the bathroom as he gets sick again at the top of the stairs.  Poor guy didn't feel well.  He got sick again about 4am.  I went to sleep with him.  He slept til about 7:15am.   We had to turn his fan off because it made to much noise.   He woke up and got a little sick in the morning.   That day he was supposed to have baseball practice, go to a fun friends birthday party and have his own friend birthday party.  We had to cancel everything.


5/19 - Kasey wasn't feeling great when I picked her up.  She had been saying all day that her mouth hurt when she opened it.  When I asked where it hurt she said the front of her mouth so I didn't think much of it.  in the car she said her throat was hurting and her tummy hurt.  After many questions trying to figure out if she was faking or exaggerating, I got food for all of us and took her to Acute Kids which is called something else now.   She has just over 100 fever, and they did strep test.   It came back positive.  So antibiotics here we come.   She has a program at school Thursday.  hopefully nothing else gets worse and she gets to go.

5/18 - Greg had to get up because he volunteered at a baseball/softball event.  I had a work call at 8am with Israel.   Then kids and I cleaned up a bit and got ready.  I had to wrap presents, make reservations for Landon's birthday lunch and get Kasey ready.
the family went to BJs for Landon's birthday lunch.  We brought home a big pozookie which is a huge cookie with some ice cream - Landon wanted that over a cake.  We had dessert and Landon opened gifts.  Then we had to run Landon to a friends BDay party where they played laser tag and boys had a blast.
That evening

5/17 - Landon's 8th birthday.  Can't believe my little boy is 8 years old.  Kasey and I went to Elisabeths 3rd birthday party - Frozen themed which the kids loved.  Kasey got to watch the movie, hang out and have some cake.     For a little while she was walking around holding Elisabeth's hand.  It was cute.  They got a cute picture with stand up Anna and Elsa.
Greg and Landon went to baseball practice and then Landon had a friends birthday part at the park.   He had to leave a little early so he wasn't to tired for his game.
We relaxed for a bit, and then headed to Landon's game.  Greg was pitching because our normal pitcher couldn't be there.  Landon started off the game at bat.  He hit the ball down the 3rd base line and it went all the way to the fence.  He got a home run.  great start to birthday game.  Also during the game he caught a fly ball in the outfield, and had a few assists to get outs.  He had a great game.   He got a gameball which was awesome for birthday.

That night we went to neighborhood party.  Free food, beer, kid entertainment and good company.  We all had a good time.  One of Kasey's friends from school was there.  A little boy named Davis.  They spent a lot of time walking around playing.  Kasey asked me where he went.  Later Davis had his dad come up to me and ask where Kasey was.  It was like seeing myself in a little body.  Being very comfortable hanging out talking with a boy.     They will be in the same grade next year at Norton.   Kasey even said later, if he's in my class he'll be my boyfriend.   We are in trouble.

5/16 - Greg went to help get the Norton carnival.  I came home let Patch out for a bit, went to grab Chick fil a for all of us and went to the carnival.  It's always fun, kids running around playing, parents chatting.  We ate quickly and everyone went to play.  both kids got their hair painted, Kasey got pretty flowers painted on her face and multiple temporarily tattoos.   We all had Kona ice, some popcorn, and Landon won a dirt cake in the cake walk.
Of course kids were up a little later but we all had fun.

5/11 - Mothers day.   Kids made me cards.   Landon gave me a book of poems he wrote which was fun.  Kasey gave me a plant to grow.
We went to lunch at one of our favorite places Paesanos with my parents and Greg's mom.  The food is great there and we even got a mothers day mimosa.  We had fun and got a few pictures.
I also got some nice earrings from my mom and some flowers from Greg's mom.
We went home and decided to start putting together the kids new art stations.   Greg put them together and we started organizing all the art stuff.   Landon started labeling the drawers which I thought was funny.   Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Overall we had a great day!

5/10 - Landon had baseball game at 3:30pm.   the boys were kind of in a funk.  Couldn't hit, weren't fielding great.  We were playing the top team and didn't do so well.

5/9 - We split up activities tonight.  Kasey had her end of season soccer party with her team.  it was cute the girls had on skirts and their hair down so some of them looked a little different.  Their coach got all the girls ice cream which of course they really liked.  They had fun talking.  Kasey had an idea that all the girls should sit together.  

Greg and Landon had baseball practice and then went to Roughriders Baseball game with Norton dads club.   Several 2nd graders were there so they had fun.

5/3 - 5/4 - Landon had an early baseball game.  Coach wanted them there little early to warm up more.  Unfortunately they lost the game by 1 run.  Boys played hard.  They had a few innings that they didn't get any runs which hurt them.  We were also visiting team which didn't help.
then we went to lunch with Grammy and Gramps to Elke's.    we had a little time before going to Kasey's game.  We came to the house and let patch out a bit.  She was crazy as usual with Grammy/Gramps.   Then we went to Kasey's last soccer game.  She played sweeper and enjoyed it.  She knew what she was doing most of the time.  If she wanted to and could kick harder she's make pretty good sweeper.  
We went home and got Kasey and Patch packed up for the night with Grandma and Pops.  Landon and I were going with cub scouts to the Dallas Zoo for a campout.
We grabbed some food picked up Travis and William and headed to the zoo.     We ate quick.  Headed in to set up our tents.  Boys had their tent, and I had a smaller one.   After we got set up we headed out on a personal tour of the zoo with a zookeeper.  She was able to answer questions the boys had and tell them some cool facts about the zoo.  Kids got to learn about and touch several smaller animals.  At one point kids got to run around, they were playing tag with one of the girl scout groups.   We also got to make s'mores which were yummy.  That night we camped out  near the large cats and some birds.  We heard through the night several the lions roaring and then about 6:15am the vultures started sqaucking which woke the boys up.

We got packed up and took all our gear to the cars.  Then we headed to walk around some then had breakfast.   Then the kids got to see and touch some more animals.  They also got to see a baby alligator   We were then allowed to walk around the zoo.  We watched the lion show where they train the lions right in front of you.  then we walked around to see a few more things. 


We left the zoo and took Travis home, went to get Kasey and patch and then headed to the pool with Travis, Allison and the Kearns family.  It was pretty chilly but we all got in anyway.

5/2 - Greg went down to College Station for some Aggie Baseball with Dave.  Grammy got kids from school and I met them after work.  Kids talked Grammy into cooking tacos - which we all loved of course.  Good food and fun times.

April 2014 Updates

4/30 - Greg and I both got to go on 2nd grade field trip to Dallas Arboretum.  I got Landon and 4 other kids from his class.  Greg was actually helping out another class so he had a few kids he knew and a few he didn't.  Greg and I got to ride on the bus together which was fun.  It was a fun field trip.  Kids got to see some pretty things.  We got to be outside on a beautiful day.  The kids got to run around a lot.  there was one area with rows of flowers so the kids decided to have a relay race.  They would race each other.  There were a lot of boy/girl competitions going on.

Right after field trip I had to meet some of team for video storyboarding.   Then of course i had to work that night.  Good times.

4/26 - We had an even busier day than normal.   Greg left before 8am to go help move stuff to the AppleCreek Picnic/Auction.   Kids and I left about 8:30am to get to Kasey's soccer game.  Kasey was pretty much done with soccer, and then they started asking her to play sweeper (defense).  She really liked this.  She was doing a pretty good job, and she didn't have to run as much!   Here team did well - I'm not sure score, but they had good game.

Then I headed to AppleCreek picnic to help finish set up.  I worked registration for a while.  Greg and kits went home to shower and then headed there as well.  Kids had fun.   They got to meet a few Revolution football players, eat pizza, play games,make a craft run around.   We closed out auction.  My last AppleCreek Picnic - I've been doing this since Landon was 2 so it was kind of sad to be at my last one.  Lots of fun and great way to earn money for school.

Right after picnic we went to Landon's soccer game.  Since the boys won the last game the coaches had orange hair and coach Jason made a mohawk.  It was fun!

The boys tied the game and played hard.  This was probably Landon's last soccer game - He is playing baseball next week because of conflict time - He played soccer this week.

After this we were exhausted.   We went home brought in some Village Burger Bar, watched a movie and got everyone to bed a little early.  I even went to bed at 11:35 which is super early for me....

4/25 - We had a great time at girls night.  About 9 of us having a few drinks and hanging out.  Our friend Lyn moved to Richardson so we used this as an excuse to get everyone together.   Good times.  


I found out today that mom is having some tests because of a tumor in her stomach.

4/18 - Its Good Friday.  Kasey told me that I looked just like Barbi.  I was wearing 2 towels.  She said my body town was like Barbi's dress with no sleeves, and the tan towel on my head made my hair look like Barbi's.  :)  Landon had school as a make up day.  I got to walk him to school.  Then Kasey and I had breakfast together.  All 4 of us got to have lunch together at the school.    We did a little afternoon shopping then Kids and I colored eggs.  They tried mixing colors.  Kasey ended up with a sort of pink brown one, and most of Landon's came out some shade of green.

Greg went to see Dallas cup games so kids and I had dinner at home and watched Star Wars II.

4/13 - We had a lazy morning.  After we finally got up we showered got ready, and went to lunch at Mi Cocina.  Landon and I had brunch and Kasey and Greg had lunch.  Then we headed to grocery store (all of us which never happens),    We brought everything home, went to pick up some of neighbors kiddos and headed to movie.  We went to Rio 2.   Kids liked it, will be interesting to see if Greg sees anything similar when there.

We had a pretty lazy afternoon which was nice.

4/12 - We woke up and all had breakfast together  then headed to Landon's baseball game.  The team got there early to get warmed up.  He had 3 RBIs in outs from 3rd to 2nd and from SS to 1st, and some good hits.  Then in soccer he scored 3 goals.  The Bengals won 4 to 0 for the first time in my memory.  So happy for team.   

Greg went to FC Dallas game so kids and I went to eat dinner.  They were pretty tired. 

4/11 - after all day offsite at work, I met the fam at baseball field for Landon's baseball scrimmage.  Yankees were playing a good team.  Landon got a home run and few other good hits as well.  He played well which is always fun to watch.   I took Kasey home to get ready for bed.  Greg and Landon met Colin and his dad to watch Allen baseball game.

4/6 - Since kids stayed at Grammy/Gramps Greg and I got to sleep in a little.  We went to have breakfast at Frogg's to try out their new menu.  It was pretty good.   I love the atmosphere there.
We went to get kids and I took them to see Muppets most wanted.  It was ok, Landon really liked it.
That evening we celebrated with Greg's parents and sister.  We had good Mexican food and Grandma made German chocolate cake - yum!

4/5 - I had a good birthday!   We didn't have to get up to early.   Greg took kids and I go Cracker Barrel for breakfast which is always good.  Then we came home for little while.  Greg and kids all got me cards,new pajamas and new headphones so I am set.  We spent the afternoon at kids games.

 Greg headed for boys day to hang out and go to final 4 games.  Kasey played soccer.  Landon played baseball got a few hits and some good play in field.  We had to leave right away so Landon could get to 2nd half of his soccer game.  mind you we all ready for spring, and today was back to being cold.  we were all in jackets and blankets on top of us at games.  then we went to grammy and gramps house for great dinner from Babe's.  Grammy got me 2 desserts - one from baskin robbins - ice cream cake like she used to get me growing up - yum.  she also made snickers cake which was really good!

Kids decided to stay with Grammy and Gramps.  So I got to come home, have some wine, and watch a movie.

4/4 - Good birthday Friday at work.  Marisa made me chocolate/peanut butter cupcakes - yum!  Had lunch with a few people at work (in our cafeteria), but it's better than eating alone.
Kasey and I got to go to dinner just the two of us while the boys were at baseball practice.  We went to Spazo and had nice dinner.


Landon got Knight of the Week this week.  It's his 3rd time this school year!  Go Landon
