December 2010

12/31 - As a gift from Greg's office they gave us an XBox360 with Kinect. Very cool for us and the kids. New Years Eve we hung out and played some Xbox. That night we went to get dinner at Durken's Pizza, and took it over to our Neighbors the Hotze's. We had some good food, a few drinks and then we played Xbox Kinect (they got one as well). Everyone had a good time.

Then we took the kids home to get them in bed. Greg's cousin Rachel came over to watch the house and be there in case the kids got up while we went to a party at the Solis' house. Usually when the kids are in bed they don't get up. We had a good time with Dave, Tracy, Doug, and Juan and Marissa at the party. Of course as we were leaving Kasey decided to get up (the computer accidentally got turned off so Rachel couldn't see what was going on). As usual Kasey wasn't big on going back to sleep. We got home not to much later and Kasey was still up not wanting to go to bed.

New Years was weird, the stations in Dallas didn't show the ball drop at 11. We had to watch the Spanish station to get it. Even at midnight we had to really search to see the New York New Years. They kept showing stuff in Dallas which was just weird.

12/30 - Greg and I got to go out to dinner with Dave, Tracy and Doug for our annual holiday dinner. We went to Tillman's Roadhouse in Oak Cliff which was really good.

12/29 - I got to go to the Salon for a wonderful Manicure, Pedicure and facial. I only get to go once or twice a year, but I love it when I get to go.

12/28 - 2 years and 1 month old. We transitioned Kasey's bed to a toddler bed. We'll see how that goes.

12/20 - Kasey said Kasey for the first time. We were driving around looking at Christmas lights and Kasey kept saying more Christmas lights on my side and more Christmas lights.

12/18 - A&M was playing Arkansas in basketball at AA center so Greg, Doug and Dave went to the game. The kids and I stayed behind and went over the our Neighbors house to decorate cookies with the kids. We had cookie and wine which was fun!

mid Dec - Now Kasey is saying all of the Grandparents names - Pops, Grandma, Grammy, Gramps, Nanny and Grandpa.

12/16 - Greg and I had our 10 year wedding anniversary. Greg had beautiful flowers sent to my work on the 16th. Our first celebration was our trip to South Africa that we took this summer.

On 12/23 we went out to dinner at Seasons52 to celebrate our anniversary. The food and atmosphere was good. One of their things is that every item on the menu is less than 475 calories which is really good.

On 12/24 Greg and I went to see a movie as one last celebration. We went to see Harry Potter because that was the only thing we could really agree on :)

12/13 - Grandpa has been saying that he wants Landon to score goals for him, and tonight at his game he scored 2. He was very excited to score them for Grandpa.

Kasey decided she wanted to sleep with a pillow for the first time. We'll see how that goes.

12/11 - we think Kasey said Grandma, but she won't say it again. We had 2 parties to go to this day which were very different. The first was a Christmas party at the Cooks house. There were ~23 kids there under the age of 6 or 7, and lots of toys for them to play with. It was fun to visit with the parents and the kids had a great time. We also had some good food and drink. Then Grandma picked up the kids at our house and we went to a work party at one of the guys houses. Very different. No kids and a mix of several cultures including American, Israeli, Mexican and others. It was nice to meet various people's significant others and let them meet Greg. After the party Greg and I actually went out to the Londoner near our house and had a few beers and talked until 1am. We definitely don't get to do that much anymore. It was a good night and we got to do a mix of things with the kids and with just us.

12/10 - Kasey got a good haircut with the Lady that Greg likes to get his hair cut out. It looks cute and healthy!

Kasey started saying Landon more and said Grammy. We were at Landon's soccer game and she was yelling Go Landon. She also said Night Night Landon which made Landon really happy.

Kasey has decided she doesn't really like taking naps anymore. Of course if she gets in a car she's out in a heartbeat. Should be an interesting stage.

12/4 - Kasey said Gramps for the first time and Landon's soccer game. We had a busy day. Landon's soccer game at 12:30pm, I went to spend some time with a few sorority sisters for a few hours which was great, and then we went to our neighbors holiday/birthday party. All was fun, but a lot for 1 day.

11/29 - I took the morning off, took Kasey to her Dr appointment (2 year checkup). She was doing great. 25.6 lb (35%), 34.5 inches tall (68%), and 19 1/4 in head circumference (84%). From there Greg took Kasey to his mom's and work. I went to Landon's class and read a book to them (a Toy Story adventure and 101 Dalmatians story) which was fun. Landon has a small class. They had a little chair set up for me and Landon got to sit next to me while Ms Nancy and his class mates sat on the floor in front of us. It was fun.

12/26 - 12/28 - Greg's grandfather lives in Odessa, and we wanted to go out there and spend some time with him. He has stage 4 melanoma. Greg was convinced that the airport would not be to busy so we left with normal time to have about an hour from arrival to flight time. Not a good plan for the day after Christmas. We pulled up and I saw how many people were inside. I told Greg to give me all of the luggage and the kids and I would go check in and he would park. So I had a backpack, 2 roller bags, 2 car seats and a 4 year old and a 2 year old. Luckily someone offered to help us get to the line which worked out well. The line was huge - around the corner and much longer than I had ever seen. Keep in mind this was an hour before our flight was to leave and we had to check luggage. I called Greg and said we would likely not make it, but we'll try. We finally got up to the front of the line. They said we were late and they couldn't guarantee that our luggage would make the flight. We said that was fine for the luggage, but we had to take the car seats or we wouldn't be able to leave the airport. We got to security which was a short line, and discovered that we didn't have our boarding passes. Greg went back and the machine was messed up and didn't give us all of them. Once he got back we got through security fine and didn't have to long of a walk to get to our gate. As we got there they were saying the flight was a little delayed because they were waiting on the Cru and some connecting passengers. This likely is how our luggage got on the flight.

Kasey is 2 now so she has her own seat. She was excited about this for a little while. We actually sat on 2 different rows.

We enjoyed our visit with Grandpa for a few days. He's now at his house with 24hour a day caregivers who are great. Landon showed Grandpa how he kicks the soccer ball, Kasey sang Rock a By Baby to Grandpa while rocking on the rocking horse. Both kids played with the Dinosaur Train. We played football in the back yard several times to run some energy off. We also took a trip to Sherwood park which both Tony and Greg have been to many times. They just recently renovated it. The kids loved it running around for over an hour on a beautiful day.

On the plane ride back, Landon was a sleep as soon as we started to taxi. Kasey wasn't to far behind. They were tired!

12/25 - Christmas morning the kids got up about 8am which was nice. We got some breakfast and then opened presents. Santa brought the kids some luggage. He also brought Landon a big fire truck and 2 large characters from Dinosaur Train (Tiny and Buddy) - He had asked Santa for Dinosaur Train. He brought Kasey a little cookie toy that talks and counts. They were excited.

We made a huge mess of our house just like we had the night before at Grammy and Gramps.

I actually got everything on my list from Greg and the kids - that's unusual because Greg usually doesn't like what's on my list like Twilight movies or Glee CDs. This year he gave in :)

For lunch we went over to Greg's mom's house and had lunch with Grandma, Nanny, Cindy, John, Laura, Rachel and Scott. Good food as usual. We had turkey & ham with the fixings. Greg made Pecan and Apple pies. Landon helped say the blessing before we ate.

That night we took home some left overs and packed for our trip the next morning.

12/24 - Greg and I went to see Harry Potter while the kids hung out with Grandma and Pops. Then we went home to decorate cookies for Santa and get Kasey a little nap. We went to Grammy and Gramps to Celebrate Christmas. We ordered in food from Uncle Julios and Greg made Pecan pie which ended up being much less stressful on everyone. We had good food, and then we all go to open gifts. Lots of fun this year with Landon and Kasey being into opening gifts. Kasey got a big doll house with furniture and Landon got a Grill (among several other things). Both kids liked both of these.

We got home and had left the Night before Christmas book at Grammy's again so we looked it up on the internet to read it :). We were watching the Santa Tracker on the internet to convince the kids they needed to get in bed.

We did a lot of cookie making and decorating this year. Landon made cookies with grandma and decorated them. Landon made and decorated cookies and little mice (with Cherry and hershey kiss) with Grammy. We made cookies and decorated them with our friends from our street. Then on Christmas Eve we decorated cookies for Santa and for us to eat.

11/28
Kasey turned 2 years old today. I can't believe it! We had a pretty low key day. Greg went and got donuts for breakfast, we started putting up the Christmas decorations. Then we headed for lunch at Snuffers. Needless to say most of us were tired. Kasey, Greg and I took a nap in the afternoon, but we're not sure Landon ever went to sleep. We finished putting up the Christmas decorations and went to super salad for dinner. Kasey loves Apple juice - a little to much. We didn't really let her have it much at all until recently and when she gets it she'll drink as much as you will give her.

She still drinks soy milk. We have tried giving her some milk and cheese, but it still seems to give her runs and brings back eczema. Kasey is starting to talk more. She says several 2-3 word phrases. Several of them include mommy or daddy and something else. Like when she saw the bumblebee cake for the first time. I was holding her and she kept saying - Daddy bumblebee, Daddy bumblebee. She will try to repeat a lot of things that Landon says - so far that's ok :) Kasey is in a stage that she doesn't like taking baths or changing clothes. A lot of times she throws a fit with either of these scenarios. Which makes it fun when getting her ready for pictures or birthday parties. I'm assuming this is a phase.

Kasey is wearing mainly 2T clothes, but some 3T. She likes shoes and boots, and I think has more shoes than I do. Of course she would rather be bare foot even if it's cold. She doesn't like to take naps, but she still needs them (nap times vary from 30 minutes to 3 hours). Typically she goes to bed about 8:30 and gets up between 8 and 8:30.

Kasey calls my mom Mimi (she's Grammy to everyone else). She also knows Greg's dad's name - Pops. She won't say Grandma (Greg's mom) or Gramps (my dad) yet, but knows who they are and recognizes their names.

Kasey is a pretty good eater, but not always. Often she likes proteins more than anything. She will eat peas, cucumber and avacado. All other vegetables she will eat sometimes but not others. She loves fruit. She's not a big dessert kid, but will eat treats. The grandmothers have commented that she'll eat a cracker or a cookie.

Kasey is going to 2 Gymboree classes a week. She goes to the regular Gymboree class and a music class. As much as she loves music at home we thought she would love it, but she kind of tunes out.

Kasey is very competitive with Landon. For everything from toys to who opens the door or who gets out of the bath first.

Every once in a while Kasey wants to try and pee pee on the potty. Doesn't actually go much, but it's a start.

11/27 We had Kasey's family birthday party today. We had 18 people at the house which was fun. I had picked a ladybug theme because I found some cute party supplies with sweet Ladybugs with pink. It ended up that what I picked didn't have a table cloth so we ended up with and Abby Cadabby table cloth - Kasey really likes Abby. The ladybug cake pan that I bought had ideas for other things to make with the pan like a bumblebee and cute little pink critter. When Kasey saw the other options she said bumblebee (her first 3 syllable word). So I knew I was making a bumblebee. I wasn't sure if I would do lady bug with red and black or the cute little pink critter. We went back and forth, but I ended up doing the cute pink critter since it was different than other cakes I've done before. The both ended up pretty cute.

We had Tin Star for lunch (we cooked all day), which seems to be a hit. Had good cake, and then let Kasey open presents. Landon gave her an Abby Cadabby doll. She has a Zoe doll (both Sesame street characters) that she calls Abby. Daddy and Kasey go back and forth saying Abby, Zoe. She knows who Abby is when she sees her on tv or a picture, but she thinks the Zoe doll is Abby. So tonight after she got her new Abby doll, we found Zoe and she took it to Daddy saying Zoe. One of the things she got from us was a little baby bed. Kasey put Abby in the baby bed right next to her bed. For a little while she covered Abby up with her blanket, but then took it when she went to bed.

I think everyone had good time, but we were all pretty tired after the party. We tried to take a nap (at least Greg and I did). I think the kids just played. Kasey had decided she didn't want to take a nap. About 5pm Landon wanted to go to the park. Kasey didn't want to go without her laptop so she had to stay behind. She threw a fit then fell asleep on the floor mat by the front door. Poor thing she was tired.

11/25 - Thanksgiving Day.

We had a great day. Wednesday night we told Landon kind of joking that we didn't want to see him in the morning until we came to get him. He sometimes comes down pretty early. Greg looked on the camera on his phone and Landon was out of bed with his light on. He was waiting upstairs for us to come up.

We had the turkey in the oven by 7:30. The kids and I started watching the Thanksgiving Day parade. The first thing was a bunch of dancers doing different types of dancing, some drill team like, some country dancing, etc. At the end Kasey was clapping. Landon was saying I don't like this. They both liked the the big balloons and the Sesame Street float. We watched that one in slow motion so we could see all of the characters.

Landon was watching the A&M basketball game on TV. He was really into the game. He yelled for the Aggies. Telling us score updates and we were working on various things. I try to teach him the terminology of the games, and he's pretty good at picking up.

We had Grammy, Gramps, Grandma, Pops, Nanny and Cindy over for Thanksgiving lunch. Every brought different things, and everything turned out great. Wednesday Landon went to Grandmas and they ended up making several pies for Thanksgiving - pecan, pecan with chocolate, pumpkin (2 made from real pumpkins - no can), and an apple pie - all from scratch. Needless to say for the 10 of us there was plenty of dessert!!

Right after lunch Greg and Doug left to drive to Austin for the A&M vs Texas game. Grandma and Pops took Kasey for the afternoon so that Landon and I could make cakes for Kasey's birthday. Landon is a big help. He really likes flattening out the ingredients in the cup measurements, he poors in the ingredients, he can stir (dry ingredients), he broke an egg and put it in (first one he did great, the 2nd on he dropped on the counter). I tried picking up the egg and getting it to the sink. I spilled. Landon thought that was funny. He also helps with the mixer. He really is a good helper!

Janice and Cindy brought Kasey back about 6:30. Both cakes were out of the oven (turned out well) and Lady hasn't gotten to them... Landon and I had started watching the Cowboys game and they started doing better, but didn't pull it off. Landon was also really into that game. Really excited when they would do something good. Yelling for the Cowboys.

Kasey, Landon and I started watching the A&M game, and Landon wanted to go watch in the bedroom. It was kind of chilly so we went in there. Kasey started getting into the game as well. She would say Touchdown, Mommy Touchdown. She'd also say go, go, go. She said Aggies and tried to say Gig'em. Looks like we've gotten through to Landon, every time they would show Texas fans doing hookem horns he would say something like ugh not that again. We had fun watching. I let the kids stay up til half time then got them to bed.

Now I'm writing this instead of making icing for Kasey's cakes...

11/24 - Landon updates
Landon is in school at AppleCreek Preschool in a PreK program. He is in what they call mobile Prek where the class moves around to different rooms for their activities. Landon really likes it. He has a great teacher Ms Nancy, and only 7 kids in his class so the kids are pretty close to each other. Landon has a class social every month. I try to go to them if I can which is fun to see the kids and the parents.

Landon is going to be playing indoor soccer this winter. He keeps asking about playing football and tball so we'll have to work on that for the spring.

He's also still in soccer tots once a week.

Landon has gone with us to almost all of the home A&M football games. He really likes A&M and the Cowboys. He doesn't like Texas (he calls it that other school).

Most of the time Landon is really good. He's very curious about things. He wants to learn how to spell words and read some words. He loves rhymes and asked about things that rhyme all the time.

Most of the time he's good with Kasey and will help her with things. Sometimes he gets very competitive and upset if she gets to do something and he doesn't. He's pretty emotional. He also has his moments where he pushes the limits with not listening, jumping, throwing, etc. He is a 4 year old boy after all.

We try to get him to make decisions on what he wants to do or eat. Sometimes he has trouble with this, but does ok. Lately he's become scared of sleeping. Not really sure if it's bad dreams or just a reason to stay up later. We'll have to see how it goes.

11/19-21 - Greg went to College Station with Doug on Friday so it was just me and the kids. Friday we had dinner with Grammy and Gramps, and of course the kids fell asleep on the way home. they both woke up when we got home though and weren't sure about going back to sleep. I was able to get everything packed up that night. Saturday morning I had both kids dressed, the car completely packed to go out of town and leaving the house at 8:04am. I was able to work out, shower and get ready at the gym then we were meeting Grammy at Lowe's for Landon's social. We got there and checked in (the Lowe's activity was for Landon's social with his school friends), but we didn't see any of his friend. We sat down and I looked up the email to determine we were at the wrong Lowe's. So we went to the car, got all of Kasey's stuff transferred to Grammy's car and Landon and I went to the correct Lowe's. The activity was fun. They gave him a work apron with goggles and he got a little hammer to make a snowman. I would line up the little nails and Landon would hammer things in. He actually did really well and enjoyed it. When you took hammer back they kids got a badge.

After Lowe's Landon and headed down Central to find a sonic to grab a sandwich and some ice then headed out of town to College station for the A&M vs Nebraska game.

At the tailgate in College station, Landon was playing and rough housing with a little boy that was 6. He came over a little later with his nose bleeding and crying. this was his first bloody nose and I think he was more scared than anything. the other little boys Mimi asked if a brownie would make it better and Landon thought it would.

The game was really good and A&M beat 8th ranked Nebraska which was good. It was a late game starting at 7pm. At 10pm Landon was out even though the Stadium was very noisy. They even made comments on TV that they thought Kyle Field was the loudest stadium.

Kasey was staying with Grammy/Mimi and Gramps. Saturday Grammy and Kasey were at the mall and she was changing her diaper and she told her I love you. This is the first time she said this. When I called later she said it to Landon and I as well. Very cute and sweet.

Kasey is really being more verbal. Susan from the gym commented on it this weekend but we are noticing as well. When Landon says things she starts saying the same thing and repeats it several times. There is good and bad to this.

11/17 - We went to the pet store tonight to get lady some treats and see the animals. Kasey told us frog and snake. When we went by the mice, and guinea pigs - she'd say momma mouse or pig. She's started calling me mommy some instead of just momma.

11/14 - Kasey said first 3 syllable word - bumblebee. She said it and turned to Greg and said Daddy bumblebee. She was very proud of herself.

11/3 - Landon woke up in the middle of the night last night with really bad cough. He isn't feeling 100% and has some fever as of this evening.

2nd half October 2010

10/31 - Kasey was a ladybug and Landon was a Fire Fighter. Grammy had found the firefighter costume and a Snow White one for Kasey. Both kids tried on several costumes from the dress up clothes we have upstairs and at least for Kasey it was to the end for trying to get her to put something on.

We went to a party down the street at the Cracknells and we all ate dinner together, the kids played and then we all walked around trick or treating together. The kids had a lot of fun. It was kind of warm that night. We got back to the house and let the kids eat 2 pieces of candy. They were excited.

10/29 - The kids wore their jackets on our walk last night. They were both pretty excited about wearing jackets. This morning Landon put his on for school and Kasey wanted to put hers on as well.

When I got home from work today both kids asked if we could go for a walk. Neither of them wanted to go eat but wanted to go on a walk. We have fun on our walks. Landon rides his bike and I push Kasey in the stroller and hold onto Lady. We look for pumpkins at all of the houses as we go by.

Tonight Landon was a mess, not listening, saying no for everything we asked him to do. So I thought I would try a different tact than threatening to take things away. I told Landon what I wanted him to do - be a nice boy, listen to what we ask him to do the first time. It was like his brain changed and he started listening and trying to be nice. Then he kept saying he was being a nice boy. We'll see how far that goes.

We've tried on several halloween costumes the past couple days. We have a snow white costume Grammy bought this year and a few fairy/princess ones we've had for a while, but of course she wanted nothing to do with those. She liked the dinosaurs, ladybug an Elmo. Landon really likes his Fire fighter costume, dinosaur and Elmo as well. We'll see what they end up wearing for halloween.

10/25 - I got to go to Landon's school social today. We went to pumpkin patch in Richardson. We had lunch, petted and fed goats, went on a hay ride, Landon went on a barrel ride, the kids got to run around and pick out pumpkins

We tried on some halloween costumes tonight. Trying to get the kids to choose what they want to be. To many choices I think. We'll see what we end up with. Landon has a really cute Fireman costume that Grammy got and a dinosaur from a few years ago that still fits. Both kids tried on Elmo. Kasey also liked one of the dinosaur costumed and seemed to like it. We tried on dresses for princesses, fairies and snow whie, and then she wanted to put her Team Liam shirt back on.

10/23 - Kasey went pee pee in MiMi's potty. She kept saying she needed to go then she actually did. The next day she asked to go pee pee in the potty. She sat in the restaurant, but didn't go. She's very independent and even on big potties she won't let you hold her to make sure she doesn't fall in.

Also that Saturday we learned that Grammy and Gramps new stopper in their tub didn't work very well. It ended up leaking water through their closet into the living room. Luckily Greg's flight got delayed to much and he came over with the carpet cleaner in his car. It looks like that was able to get most of the water up so that they don't have to replace it.

Kasey has started singing songs more. She will sing some of I Hear Thunder and she knows the end of the ABC song. It's cute hearing her say more.

10/21 - Kasey had a cold (runny nose but not much fever), but Thursday she woke up and couldn't keep breakfast down so Greg took her in. She had an ear infection which I had thought was the case on Tuesday night. She likes the medicine though. We put the medicine syringe in her mouth and she just sucks in the medicine.

10/16/10 - We stayed home this weekend and didn't go to the A&M game. Landon's soccer game and A&M game were at the same time so we stayed here. We had soccer game, watched A&M lose on TV and then after very short rest time the kids, Grammy and I headed to the craft fair in Plano where we always get in trouble. Grammy bought kasey a too too. she tried it on and wouldn't take it off until we go the car.

Kasey is really starting to say more words. If we come home in the evening and it's dark we go to the driveway to see the moon. Kasey won't let us forget. Last night she said Goodnight Moon. In the car today Landon was asking Kasey to say several words like colors and other stuff. She was able to say most of them.

Landon can now open most car doors by himself and he buckles himself in. Landon can sing most of the A&M War Hymn. He can also sing a lot of the A&M Spirit song. Especially the yelling part at the end. He gets really into it. Landon is saying prayers every night and he asks me to sing Hush Little Baby to him.

Landon is making competition of things like who gets their seat belt on. He will figure out which one he'll be between the 4 of us and say that he wins. Example - Kasey has her seat belt on and he's getting his on, but Greg and I aren't in the car. He'll say that the 2nd one to buckle in the winner.

Landon is playing pretty well on the soccer team. We played a really tough team today and Landon scored a goal. He played pretty well.

Kasey's naps seem to be getting shorter. Some days she will still take a good couple hour nap, but most days it seems to be 30-45 minutes.
