April Updates

4/29 - Landon had a friends birthday party and Greg took him since I went with him to the last one.  So Kasey and I got to hang out just us for a few hours.   We got a lot done.    We washed dishes, put up clothes, made popcorn, painted our nails and tried to take a nap.   We had popcorn, a kindle with music and painting our toenails.  Kasey says " This is like a popcorn party"

When upstairs trying to nap, I was trying to convince her that she only needed to bring down 2 pets instead of 5.   She says "we'll see about that".  Sounds just like me.  We had fun.

4/27-4/28 - Busy weekend.  Friday night we had baseball game for Landon.  The team we played was pretty good. Saturday morning we had soccer game for Landon.  He scored the only goal for our team.    After soccer game Greg, Gramps and Landon hung out for an hour until Landon's baseball game.  Grammy, Kasey and I went to the AppleCreek picnic to help out and have fun.   Picnic and Auction was fun.   When we got there found out that the gates weren't opened until 10:15 then the big bounce house slide was not tied down so it blew up in the air hit a tree and got ripped.   Needless it say it was a rough start.   After that things seemed to go well.   Kasey got to play some games, eat pizza and snow cone.   Then later I was working at registration and Kasey wanted to help.  We gave people bid number and raffle ticket.  Kasey was handing them out to people being a good helper.  She kept saying, mommy ask someone if they need one.   The kids got to go to  Grammy and Gramps house while Greg and I helped close up the auction.   Greg went to help his dad with something on the house and I ran a few errands then went to get kids.

4/22 - Kasey decided to grow up today :)   She decided she didn't want booster seat at the kitchen table any more, and she wanted to give herself a bath.  We'll have to stay with her for a while with the bath/shower, but I don't think we'll have problems with her being independent.

4/21 - No baseball this weekend, but Landon had a birthday party and soccer game.  Fun birthday party with pirate theme.  It was first birthday party where most of the moms dropped kids off.  I brought another friend so I stayed and helped out.    Landon scored 3 goals in his game and played well.

4/20 - Landon got Knight of the week for the 3rd time.  We are very proud of him.  We went to mom and dads house and had tacos and Hershey bar pie.  Yum!

4/15 - Landon has been playing Words with Friends for a little while with my parents.  After staying at Grammy and Gramps house he wanted to start playing at home.   I put it on my Kindle and let him play a few games.    He knew very well how to start new games and get going right away.

4/14 - Landon had two games again, but this time one after another.    He did well at both games, but was pretty tired. the baseball team we played was really good, but  In soccer he almost scored a few goals, but didn't.  The team did well.  The kids and I went to Mexigo for dinner after games and Greg went to FC Dallas.

4/13 - Kids spent the night at Grammy and Gramps, and Greg and I went to dinner at Del Friscos with Dave, Tracy, Doug, Juan and Marissa.   We had a good evening.   Our usual sommelier went to Del Friscos went to a new Del Friscos Grill in another part of the town, but the sommelier there helped us out.   

4/12 - I took a half day off work to go with Landon and the kindergarten class  to Dallas World Aquarium.  We get on the bus with 44 kindergarten kiddos.  It was a little loud, but they were excited. I had 5 kids in my group.  We walked around and saw several things that the kids enjoyed.  They had a really big alligator, some lemurs, 2 huge manatees, cool sharks (you walk through area with them and a sawfish was laying on the top), little jellyfish, a sloth, some penguins and several other things.   We went around quite a bit, and the kids were obviously tired on the way back.  A few of them fell asleep.  We got back to the school and had lunch outside - it was a beautiful day.   They let us check the kids out of school after that.  We went and booked Landon's birthday party at Cosmic Jump after leaving school

4/9 - Back to work today.   I started on Friday going to boot camp work out led by one of the moms from our baseball team.   Good workout at 5:15am.   

Tonight Kasey was saying her prayers.  We've been praying for a little boy who had brain tumor and another friend of a friend who's dad has been diagnosed with cancer.   I was telling her that the little boy was doing well, but still going through treatment, but that the dad wasn't doing to well.  She wanted to know why he wasn't getting better.  I tried to explain that sometimes people don't get better.  She said that she would continue praying for the little boy  so hopefully he keeps getting better.  I thought that was sweet.

4/6 - 4/8  We had a busy weekend planned.   Grammy, Gramps, Landon, Kasey and I all  piled into Grammy's car and drove down to Conroe.  Michael, Melodi and kids were in town from Vegas.   We had a fun surprise when we got there.   Michael's mom Fran had flown in to surprise the family.  I haven't gotten to see her since Michael and Melodi got married, and it had been even longer for my parents.  We were all very excited to get to visit with her.   The kids had a great time playing outside with the dogs.   We also had a fun easter egg hunt.    As usual we had a great dinner.  I got a fun surprise that we celebrated my birthday.    We had yummy Red Velvet cake.

Kids were up later than usual of course and as usual Landon woke up the next morning about 7am.   We got ready to go and headed to Jim and Mary's for a little while before everyone headed out.  Then we drove down to West Columbia.   We checked in and headed to Aunt Georgia's to visit.  The kids got to play.   Then we headed to the get dressed for the wedding.  The kids were pretty excited.   We got there and visited a little with family before the wedding.  Kids were pretty good during the wedding.    Landon wanted to take pictures of everyone. We had some good food and got to visit a little bit more. Unfortunately we had to leave early so we could get the kids to bed.    As with the night before they went to bed a few hours late, and still woke up the next morning by 7:30am.   The kids wanted to go to Grammy and Gramps room to bath and get ready.   It gave me a little time to get organized and let the kids hang with Grammy and Gramps.

Greg had borrowed an ipad 2 and let Landon use his ipad3  to watch movies and play games.  Usually they were good in car with just movies, but with ipads they wanted to go between movies and games quite a bit.

Greg got to have a boys weekend.  Every year they have a big soccer tournament in Dallas called Dallas Cup.   He always goes, so he stayed home.   He also got to play some poker with boys and go to Stars game Saturday night.

We had a good trip overall.  I had emailed the Easter Bunny to let him know we would be home later on Sunday so he could still come to our house.   He did come, and the kids were super excited when we got home.

4/5 - I got to go to lunch with some mom friends from TI.  We went to MoMos which was very good.   That night we had pretty normal night.  Landon had soccer practice.  I went and picked up some Mediterranean food from a place that I've been wanting to try.    Kids and I had that and Greg went to FC Dallas game.   Luckily I still had some dessert that my mom made me for my birthday.   

I know some people think it's silly, but I think it's fun to see birthday comments on facebook especially the personal ones.   Here were a few of my favorites

It was about this time of the day when we began to think the peach milk shakes had done their job and caused you to make your mother to start labor. I am sorry I drove 100 mph from Monahans to the Odessa hospital, it is a wonder I didn't kill us all. Happy Birthday, sweet heart.

4/1 - The 3 ladies and I on the block took our girls to brunch and then to Disney on Ice (Disney Princesses).  We went to a place called Cold Vines near the American Airlines Center.  We had good food and fun visiting.  I tried to get Kasey to wear a princess dress, and even bought her a new Rapunzel dress.  She tried on that one, Cinderella, Snow White and even a generic princess dress.  None of them worked so she ended up wearing a cute yellow dress.  When we got there we were trying to decide what to let the kids get.  I told Kasey she could get a shirt, but she didn't want any of them.   She wanted a light up toy or cotton candy.  She doesn't like cotton candy.   We ended up with a snow cone in Rapunzel cup.  Of course she got it all over her dress, but she liked it.  Kasey was very cute during the show.  She really liked Cinderella and Rapunzel stories.  She said she liked the music the best.   At the end they had all of the princesses come out and dance.  The girls liked that a lot as well.   

After the show we went to Grammy and Gramps to celebrate my birthday.  Mom made yummy enchiladas and tacos, and made a wonderful dessert i had asked for with Reeses peanut butter cup and brownies.  Yum!!  Kids got to hang out a little bit and take a bath at Grammy and Gramps.   

March Updates

3/31 - What a day.  I got up and worked out at the gym.  Luckily we changed baseball game from 8am to 11:30am so I could do that.  The neighborhood had easter egg hunt at the clubhouse at 10:30 so we went to that and the kids had fun hunting eggs and eating a cookie or two.  Then we headed to baseball game.  Kids played well.  Landon got a good hit and got  an out when playing pitcher by running home.   Then we took some lunch home and attempted to get the kids to rest.  We sort of watched Tangled and sort of rested.  Landon then had a soccer game at 4:45pm.  He played really well.  He scored 3 goals and played some good defense as well.  We were very proud of him today.  We went to Pan Vino for dinner to celebrate.  Needless to say Landon was tired when we got home.  Maybe he'll sleep in tomorrow (not likely).


3/30 - Realized yesterday after another mom pointed it out that Kasey is very sure of herself and when not throwing fits pretty mature for her age.  She has decided on her own that she doesn't want to do gymnastics anymore.   In her room we've had a little music box that plays classical music melodies.  She listened to that to go to sleep from probably birth.   Last week she decided she didn't want it anymore and in fact didn't want it or the basket it was in in her room at all.
We're trying to figure out summer schedules and camps!

3/25 - We went out to brunch at cafe Brazil.   Then the kids, Grammy and I went to a circus under the big top right by our house.  We all got to ride an elephant.  The kids got to ride a camel, train, ponies, go to petting zoo, and bounce house.  Then on top of that we got to see fun circus.  For dinner we picked up Chinese and had dinner with Greg's parents, grandmother and sister.   Greg's mom made red velvet cake which was really yummy.

3/24 - We had our first weekend of 2 games on Saturday.  We had baseball at 9:10am.  The boys played well for first game and the weather was great.   We went home so Greg and Landon could shower, and then we went and had a nice lunch/brunch on the patio at Uncle Julios.  That afternoon we had soccer pictures and soccer game.  Afterwards of course the kids were tired.  We went to a pizza place near the house and had dinner then got kids home to shower and bed.

3/23 - We went to Adventure Landing for Alfonso's birthday party.  The kids got to play video games, miniature golf and Landon got to ride a go cart.  It was Landon's first time in a go cart.  He did good, but have a couple times he ran into things.  Of course this means the kids were up late which to start off the weekend.  Bad part for our kids especially Landon is that it doesn't really matter what time he goes to bed, he still gets up between 7 and 7:30.  So if they are up late, that just means less sleep.

3/18 - We had been getting some things done around the house.  Greg had painted Kasey's bathroom.  We had gone shopping to get some things for their bathrooms.  We got Landon's set up except his mirror.

3/17 - Today we went to Nanny's (Greg's grandmother) 90th birthday party.  We had it at the church and had many family and friends there to celebrate this big milestone.

3/15 - 3/16 - I took a couple days off at end of spring break to spend with the kids.   Thursday we slept in a little bit and hung out at the house in the morning.  We took Kasey to swim lessons - for some reason she really wants to play around rather than do what she's supposed to do.  She did the same thing this week at gymnastics.   We'll have to work on that.   Then we went to Snuffers to have lunch.  Greg started teaching Landon how to play  Sudoku which might be fun for him this summer.

He's also getting better at crossword puzzles since he can more easily figure out the words.
In the afternoon the kids and I went shopping to look for new stuff for their bathrooms.  We are getting new shower curtains and accessories for the kids.  Landons wants sports, and we're still working on Kaseys.  While we were out Greg painted Kasey's bathroom.

On Friday, I got up early to work out to make sure I got it in.   Then Greg had to go into work so the kids and i headed to a neighborhood playdate at a park.   I was getting everything and the kids decided to get in the front seat and buckle up ready to go.  They are so silly.  We headed to the park.  There were a few families there, but I don't think how many normally go.   One of the moms is becoming a bradley instructor where are the birth classes that I took so that was fun to talk to her.

 One of kiddos from Landon's Baseball team was there.   We ended up playing soccer the three of us which was fun.  Then we decided to go to the Chocolate Angel for lunch.  Grammy had gone the day before and I wanted the kids to try their strawberry pretzel salad.  We called on the way to get a reservation and had a nice lunch just the 3 of us.  Then we headed home to start working on the bathrooms.   We put some of Landon's stuff in his bathroom and it looked good. We need to get Kasey's bathroom back functional, but we liked some of what we bought her.
Greg got home and decided he was ready to go buy his iPad 3.  So we headed out to do that and get dinner.   We went to Big Easy and kids got to try benyas for the first time.  Kasey really liked it, Landon was pretty full.

We had bought the kids new summer pajamas.  Kasey is wearing size 5T - I can't believe it and Landon is in 6.  Kasey chose an Angry Bird night gown.  We'll see if she likes a night gown. Landon got a sports one and 2 Lego Star Wars.

Now I'm enjoying some Rose wine and hanging out while Greg is playing with his ipad.

3/10 - It's been raining some on and off this week.  We weren't sure if we were going to have a soccer game this morning, but we did.  Luckily our game was early because a few hours later it started raining and continued most of the day.   Landon was playing mid field which he wasn't to sure what that meant since he's never practiced it.  He played pretty well today
In the afternoon we took the kids to grandparents to spend the night.  Greg and I went out to eat at new restaurant Savour in Watters Crossing. It was pretty good, but the Sangria was not good.  Then Greg took me to Bonnie Ruths for some yummy dessert.  We then headed back home for some wine and a movie!


3/9 - Landon got Knight of the week for the 2nd time this year (for this class).  Way to go Landon!

3/7 - Today Grammy and I got to go have lunch with Landon at school.  It was supposed to be a Luau, but for some reason only Landon and I were dressed in Hawaii shirts.  oh well.  We got to sit by our neighbor the Turners and Studdards so that was fun.  After lunch we went to the book fair to get a few books for the kids.  We had a good time.
Tonight was the first baseball practice.  Greg is the head coach of the Knights (same as the school mascot).   All of the kids are from Norton so most of them know each other - which is good and bad.  Greg went through what baseball is, the running the bases, and some fielding.  I think it went well for first practice.  Kids got a little crazy at one point so Greg made them run.  should be a fun season.  The parents seem really nice.  We have 4 boys that are playing baseball and soccer together.

3/4 - this morning the kids got their tents down, and set up their pillows and quilts like they were sleeping.  they set up everything outside the tents like they were going to bed, water, 2 kleenex (?? not sure why), and found a little plastic case that they put their pretend cell phones in (they were charging).  Then after that Landon set up some cards we had that had letters, pictures and words on them.  He was trying to help Kasey learn letters.  She's starting to get there.  She knows M (we've switched that M is for Monkey instead of McDonalds), K for Kasey, S for Shrek, W for what see at Women's bathrooms, O & X (we think from tic tac toe).  She also sometimes knows A, B, L.   She'll get there.

We had lunch with Greg's family to celebrate Pops Birthday.  We went to Spring Creek BBQ and then had German Chocolate cake for dessert - yum, we ate to much.   Landon worked on some new legos and Kasey worked on letters and watching Daddy and Pops work outside.


3/3 - Landon had his first soccer game today playing for the Bengals.  He scored a goal, and had a pretty good game.   We also went to dinner tonight with the Cracknells land Turners.  We went to Jason's Deli - kids were a little crazy, but it was fun.

3/1 - We found out today that Landon was accepted into the gifted and Talented program for Allen School district.  He had to go through multiple stages of testing for creative and achievement (more academic).   We are very proud of him.   In kindergarten they start at doing 1 hour a week in the program and he will be in this program through 12th grade.
