7/27 - Landon had an outpatient procedure this day. We had to be at Medical City at 6am to check in. Overall things went very smoothly. All of the forms and information were input directly into a computer. For checkin even signatures were done on the computer. Landon got to watch cartoons that we normally would not let him watch while we took care of paperwork. We were able to go with him into pre-op which to me was the worst part. They were nice and brought him a little DVD player and let him pick a movie to watch. He picked Ice Age (the first one). They had given him some funny medicine to relax him. This part bothered me because there were others in the Pre-op - there was a older girl across the hall that wasn't really wanting to go into surgery and a younger child next door who was crying. Landon was ok, when they went to take him he asked - where are you going. We told him the waiting room and we loved him. The nurse walking us out told us he didn't know we were leaving. They had told us we could be there when he woke up, but apparently he was awake when they brought him to recovery after surgery. He was crying when we got there because we weren't there. I was able to get in bed and hold him which calmed him down, but it took a little while. He watched his movie some more, but started asking when he could leave. They offered juice or a popcicle - he asked for green popcicle because it's his favorite color (he'll learn someday that green candy/popcicles aren't usually very good). Anyway, he had some pain, took some pain medicine, drank some juice. They were about to let him got to a different recovery area, and he got sick all over the blanket. Very normal at this stage, but not fun. We went downstairs soon after this, and had to wait for about an hour in a room. More unusual TV and Landon kept asking when he could leave. they had a blood pressure cuff that either started beeping after recording or was trying to take a reading off the bed. Anyway, after another popcicle, it was time to go home. No more sickness and not much pain.

Landon did well, he was unsure about bruising and being sore but by the next day he was going crazy being kept in the house. We gave him pain meds on the day of surgery, but after that night he only took Motrin once and that was it.

7/24 - I had to fly to Vancouver for a work meeting. Crazy travel. My first flight was an hour and a half late which meant I missed my connection. I was able to get a later flight out of Houston, but it landed about midnight. By the time I got to the hotel it was after 1am, and I didn't get to bed until 2:30am (which is 4:30am Dallas time). Monday I had an all day meeting and calls that night with Japan and Dallas. Needless to say a long day. Then Tuesday I had get up at 4:30am to catch an early flight back home.

7/23 - After skating and soccer game we went to Texadelphia to Grammy and Gramps to celebrate Greg's Birthday. Yummy food and good company! The kids went home with Grammy and Gramps for the night. Greg and I actually took a nap that afternoon :) That night we went out with some friends to celebrate Greg's birthday - Dave, Tracy, Doug and Marissa. After dinner we met several friends at Londoner near our house. Unfortunately our neighbors were moving the next week back home to Kansas. We are very sad to see them go, but happy that they can be closer to their family. We have 5 families on the street with kids about the same age which is fun. We all hung out for the last time before our neighbors moved.

7/20 - Greg's birthday - that night we went to uncle Julios with the kids. Greg and I shared a swirl margarita - Kasey asked if she could have some. I guess it looks fun with different colors and a pink flamingo sticking out of it :) As we were leaving we got to see flour tortillas being made from dough balls to fresh tortillas. Yummy.

7/17 - We went to birthday party for one of Landon's friends he's known since he started school at age 2. The kids had a great time playing soccer. the party was the same time as the US Women's World Cup Final so we were between watching the kids and the game. Sad that US team lost the game to France.

That night we went to dinner with Greg's family to celebrate Greg's birthday and his Uncle Buddy's birthday. We went to Carrabbas for dinner then back to Grandma and Pops house for dessert.

7/16 - We had another busy day. I went to aerobics, Landon had skating, and then soccer game. We had a fun party that afternoon. They had Cinderella come to the party. She played games with the kids, did balloon animals and face painting. Of course there was cake an ice cream as well. Landon had a lot of fun with everything. Kasey played the games for a little while and then decided she would rather take Ken's clothes off and play in the doll house :) That night we all went to the FC Dallas game with Doug. The kids have a good time and when the game is later it's a little cooler.

7/14 - Grammy and Fredel took the kids to the new acquarium in Grapevine. They had a great time. They also got to get new legos which Landon came home and wanted to start building right away. He had a pretty complex fire truck done by the next morning.

Landon loves making things. With different lego and put together toys he makes all kinds of things. He love drawing. He makes great birthday cards and pictures.

7/13 - Greg took Landon fishing today for the first time at the little pond in our neighborhood. He seemed to have fun, but they didn't catch anything. He also got to go ice skating with his friend Alfonso. Needless to say he was tired.

7/7 - Kasey is doing pretty well on potty training. I would say she's 95% potty trained during the day. A few accidents here or there during the day, but she's doing well. She has a potty book that Grandma got for her that she wants to read over and over again.

We've started playing more games together. Everyone likes to play Zingo. Kasey and Landon like it. Landon got a new one for his birthday called Dicecapes which is a little advanced for him, but it's fun. We also played uno moo the other day.

The kids after showers want to watch a game on tv. I think it's a stall tactic for not wanting to go to bed, but it's fun that they say they want to watch sports.

Kasey has been doing it for a while, but she talks just like me. I sometimes tell the kids that something is not appropriate - so she says that as well. Several little things. Landon also reprimands Kasey and tells her what will happen if she doesn't stop doing something.

Grammy and Gramps got Landon a checkers game that has football helmets for Minnesota Viking and Green Bay Packers - because Landon likes the Viking for some reason. Anyway, Landon and I play checkers and with not to much help he usually beats me :)

July 4th weekend

We started the weekend with a birthday party for friend down the street who was turning 3. It was fun to see different people from the neighborhood and from school.

Saturday morning we had another birthday party at the neighborhood pool. Of course the kids loved that. they got to hit a pinata. Both Kasey and Landon hit it.

Saturday night we went to the FC Dallas soccer game. We met Doug early for some dinner. The kids and I went over to the Frisco play area. they ended up jumping in 1 bounce house and we got some free flags then we headed to the FC Dallas game. The kids did pretty good through the game, and then we watched the fireworks from our car. They are really close to the stadium so it's a great view and good show. Kasey was a little scared of the fireworks, but did ok. Landon enjoyed them and liked the colors and the different shapes.

Sunday we hung out, did some shoppings and enjoyed not having multiple games in a weekend. That night I went out for drinks with a friend which was nice to get out. We stayed out til 12:30 which is pretty good. Of course kids still got up early Monday.

Monday night we went to dinner with the Turners from down the street. They went to McKinney fireworks, but the kids were still recovering from late Saturday night so we got them to bed.

June 2011 updates

6/26 - Kasey started wearing underwear more. She was tired when we went to lunch, threw a complete fit wanting to and not wanting to go potty at the restaurant. Then she took a nap. somehow she stayed dry through all that. She also went number 2 in potty -she's not to sure of it, but we'll get there.

After Kasey's crazy fit Landon and I decided to get out of the house and go to the neighborhood pool. We had fun and Landon got to swim and play with a little boy from the neighborhood.

6/22 - We cancelled tball practice because so many kids were out so we took the kids to the neighborhood pool. we had a good time playing in the pool, racing and Landon practicing his swimming

6/20 - There are a lot of kids in Landon's skating class and they have different skill levels. They are moving Landon and a few kids up to hockey 2 class. Now we'll have skating on Saturdays instead of Monday.

6/19 - We had a good fathers day. We had a good lunch with Grammy and Gramps at Paesanos. The kids got to share Fettuccine Alfredo with Grammy. Of course we had good desserts. We rested in the afternoon. Landon made Greg a book with pictures that he drew and things about him like how old he is and that his favorite food is chicken salad ?? he also made him a little book with words in it. Greg also got a few shirts from Kona brewery - his favorite beer is Firerock from Kona Brewery.

6/18 - between soccer and tball games I took Landon to ice skating (make up). He was doing really well. When they were getting them to go backwards he would be all the way across the ice and the other kids would barely be halfway. There was a Canadian couple there saying he'll make a good defender.

6/12 - Kasey is wearing underwear today even running errands. She has been doing well for a couple days with pee pee - 1 accident a day.

Aggie baseball team plays at 3pm to try to get to the world series, Landon has make up tball game at 5pm, FC Dallas has a game at 6pm and Dallas Mavericks play one of final games at 7pm....

6/11 - We had 2 games again today with a birthday party in between. Soccer at 9:30am, Kasey, Grammy and I went to Tegan Reed's first birthday party at 10:30am and then Landon had a tball game at Noon. Needless to say we took a nap in the afternoon. We went to Freebirds for dinner and got to have draft Shiner - Greg says it's been there a while, but I haven't seen it before.

6/9 - Kasey has started to put puzzles together more. At Grammy's she put together several younger puzzles and some that were for 4-5 year olds too with a little help.

6/6 - We ordered the books Landon was reading in Phonics. He did really well reading the ones he had read before, and started reading new ones as well.

6/4 - This has been one of the craziest days in a long time. This was our first day of Landon playing 2 sports at the same time.

We had an 8am indoor soccer game, then I went to work out at the gym while Greg took the kids for a donut because Landon played well in his game. We got ready and went to Landon's tball game at noon. The team did well and got 6 outs - in the league you either get 5 runs or 3 outs. One of the innings the team got 3 outs before 5 runs. Go Rattlers. Then we headed for a quick lunch since we were all hungry.

So far so good. At this time we have 1 working bathroom in our house - our new and improved bathroom. The others have had the walls redone (no more wallpaper) and now Greg is working on painting them. So Greg was upstairs doing this and we decided to try big girl underwear with Kasey. I was not brilliant with this and let her sit on our bed. We went through a few pairs or underwear and i'm still washing everything from that. Both kids are super tired. We got leave to grab some dinner (Greg has gone to FC Dallas game) and Landon gets a nose bleed and he's rubbed it all over his arms and shirt. He's freaking out because he has blood all over him. I'm trying to calm him down, get him to the one working bathroom and get Kasey back inside. He was doing well. We went and grabbed food to bring back home because everyone was tired. And even in few minutes coming home both kids were falling asleep. We walk in the door and Landon tells me he was really asleep and I woke him up.

Then I got the kids quick showers and to bed. They were out pretty quick :) I'm about to head to the movies to see Water for Elephants before it leaves the theaters.

Bathroom Remodel - Spring 2011

We started our bathroom remodel April 25th. Most of it was complete a month later except for having the mirrors up. Now we are almost 2 months later, but we have mirrors up and new door handles in the entire downstairs. Only little things left are finding accessories that we like and go with everything and possibly getting new towels.

February 2010 I was in Barcelona on a business trip. Greg decided that he should look into whether the shower caulk was getting water behind the tiles. so the shower sat with several tiles removed until April 2011. I had had enough of taking baths so we found a contractor to do work.

We went through different options of how much to redo, and ended up with plan to take out most everything, make a big shower and enjoy.

along the way we kept finding new project. we also replaced the tile around the fireplace because it was cracked. We replaced a few other cracked tiles in the entry. We also had them redo walls in all other bathrooms in the house for Greg to paint. we're still working these projects.

May Updates

5/28-5/30 - Memorial Day weekend

Saturday we had Landon's tball game. He got an out and was excited about it. Then the kids went to Grammy and Gramps for the night. Greg and I did a few things around the house and then we went out for a nice dinner. We went to Bonnie Ruths and had a good dinner and dessert. We even had some French wine which we haven't had in a while. Then we decided to take in a movie. We went to see Hangover 2 - that's what we agreed to. It was pretty funny.

Sunday I went to Grammy and Gramps to have lunch with them and the kids. Grammy had bought them a cardboard house they can play in and color. Landon of course was very into coloring it. He put Kasey Myers on one door and Landon Myers on another door.

Landon is making many things. He made me a Dinosaur Train - cut it out and colored it and said it was a thank you for making his dinosaur train cake and cupcakes. He had cut out a lion - cut out pieces and put it together, made a parrot and ornament, flower. All kinds of things. He likes being creative and drawing and cutting and coloring etc.

After lunch we came back and got ready for a neighborhood pool party. We all had a great time. Landon was doing well swimming, Kasey loved the water. We had good food and a margarita machine - what more could you ask for.

Monday we got up and went to the early Kung Fu Panda movie. Then Greg spent most of the rest of the day priming the bathroom walls.

5/25 - Bathroom is basically done - just few minor things and hang the mirrors

5/24 - Landon had his 5 year well visit today. He did pretty well. He didn't pass his hearing test, but she said that since he recently had a cold that is sometimes normal. We'll go back in a month. He weighed 44.1lb (70%) and was 44.49 inches (78%). They checked his eyesight as well which he did pass (yea). He did well and asked him several questions about things he knew like 911 and strangers and colors and shapes etc. Anyway, he did well.

5/23 - Kasey hasn't been jumping much at gymnastics until this week. She started jumping better today.

5/22 - we had Landon's friend party at Pump in Up in Frisco again. The kids seemed to have a great time. I made a Dinosaur Train cake and Dinosaur Train cupcakes with edible icing with a picture that said Happy Birthday Landon. We had fun dinosaur themed goodies including a dinosaur mask that the kids seamed to like. Landon had a great time. Afterwards he went to FC Dallas game with Greg and Kasey and I hung out and rested.

5/21 - got to take shower in new shower for the first time even though the glass wasn't in.

Tball was cancelled because of rain so we went to Taste of Addison with the kids. We had some good food and the kids got to see a show and ride on some rides. After that we took the kids to Grandmas house and Greg and I tried to do some shopping then went back to Taste of Addison to spend some time with adults. Tracy's brother was playing in a band, and or course the food and drinks were good.

5/18 - got to use my new sink in our bathroom

5/17 - Landon turned 5 years old today. He had a fun day. At the school auction we won a special visit from the story lady (the school owner). She came in dressed up in renaissance dress with several books and puppets. She read some fun stories. One that she had out was called how the giraffe got his long neck. We had gotten that in South Africa, so I was wondering if she had gotten it on her visit to South Africa or some where here. She had gotten it in South Africa so it was fun to have her read that one.

Grandma picked up Landon from school and took him for Ice Cream which of course went over well.

That night we had dinner at Zorbas with Grammy and Gramps which was fun and very good.

5/14- 5/15 - We had a busy day. We had a garage sale to get rid of some stuff in the morning, Landon had a tball game at 2pm, and then we went to Jill Folkert's Nursing school graduation party. The kids had a blast at the party, and it was fun for me to catch up with Jaime and Sarah. We don't get to see each other very often. Jaime had her twin boys who are almost 7 months old there. To cute. Sarah and I got to feed them which was fun. We don't get to do that much.

Greg went that night to FC Dallas game part way through the party. Landon had a pretty bad cough that night and even woke up and threw up some that night. We took him to the Dr the next day and it ended up just being a cold, no fever or anything. I guess that was good, but we kept everyone home most of the day anyway.

5/8 - Had a wonderful mothers day. Landon woke up at 6:45am after going to bed late... We had scones made by family friend Fredel for breakfast and we all enjoyed them. We had a great lunch with Grammy and Gramps at Paesanos. We came home so Landon could work on his Lego truck and do mothers day. We gave Grammy some butterfly earrings from James Avery and some flowers. Landon made me a button necklace, a little piece of paper with lady bugs on it, and he made a wonderful book from school with different questions and drawings on it. it's wonderful!!! Greg and the kids got me a Nook Color.

We then cleaned up some, took some naps and got ready for Mothers Day dinner with Greg's mom, dad and sister. Greg cooked out hamburgers which were great, and we had some of Landon's birthday cake.

5/7 - We had Landon's first tball game of the season. The team hit pretty well and seemed to have fun. Then we had the family birthday party. Greg and I made a Dinosaur Train cake. Greg made a marble cake, and I decorated it. I made a nest out of chow mein noodles and butterscotch and chocolate chips melted. Then put crushed graham crackers as the ground and put the characters and train on it. We had a nice dinner with everyone and Landon got to blow out candles and open presents. The kids were really tired, but had a great time.

5/6 - We went to Landon's school program for his PreK class. It was great. The kids said the pledge of allegiance, and sang several of their favorite songs. We got it all on video. Then we had some treats afterwards with the kids.

5/4 - Landon got book from Phonics and started reading the pages. He's still working on it, but starting off really well.
