November 2017

11/28 - Today was Kasey's birthday.   I got up to walk the dog because Greg was going to watch dog at the school.  I possibly had a work dinner so gave Kasey her few presents before they left for school.  Greg drove the kids to school and wasn't feeling 100%.  By 9am he was feeling pretty bad and had to leave school.  Luckily he did as he ended up getting sick a few times.   Kids walked home from school and Greg was just on the couch resting.

I ended up leaving at 5 to come home and get Landon to band and Kasey to dance.  I also got some fruit from the store and gas for my car.

11/27 - We got a call from Nanny about 11:30pm that she had fallen off her couch and needed help.  None of us could get a hold of Greg's parents so he got dressed and headed south.   They were able to get Nanny up on the couch but called parametics just in case.  They took her to hospital to make sure everything was ok.   Nothing broken thank goodness

11/26 - Today we had family celebration for Kasey's birthday.  Greg and I slept in til after 9.  We met the grandparents and Cindy and Carlos at Freebirds for lunch.  Then we went back to Grandmas for dessert.  Kasey had asked for strawberry salad for dessert and we had Carlos' chocolate cake as well.

Kasey opened presents and got some money and a few fun things like a fingerling which she really likes.

Kasey and I had a girl scout meeting where girls earned one of their money badges.  After that we waited for Landon's soccer practice to be over.   We then headed to Mi Cocina for Kasey's family dinner since we have a busy week ahead.   Landon finished up his balloon racer for school which he had fun building.

11/25 - today we had Thanksgiving with the Myers family.  Greg got up at 6:15am to put the 21lb turkey in the oven.   The kids helped clean up that morning, I think we all took some kind of nap, and got food ready.  After the turkey was done, Landon made sweet potatoes and Kasey made green bean casserole.  The kids also put butter on the rolls.

We had a very nice meal pretty low key.  I left a little early to head to target for a few things because Greg was heading out to watch football with the boys.

The kids and I hung out in the afternoon.  We had left overs for dinner and watch Santa Clause is coming to town.   A&M lost their game which meant our coach was likely going to get fired

11/24 - Kasey got sick that morning.  Thanks to my mom for helping her.  My guess is its because she had green beans and sweet potatoes both at lunch and dinner.

Greg and I got up and headed over to my aunts.  My parents packed up and headed out.  We had some breakfast and took a little longer getting ready to go.   We headed home.   We got back in town to pick up Patch.   We dropped Patch off and want to Village Burger bar for lunch.

We did a few things around the house that afternoon.  We had dinner with Greg's family at 6 in Richardson.  We didn't get the stay the whole time but had a good meal.  That night I had girls night with a few moms including one that moved away and we miss a lot.  Always fun catching up with the ladies

Greg was home with the kids and cooking for the next day :)

11/23 - Thanksgiving day.  We slept in some, took showers and went to my aunts house.  The kids had been up for a while and had eaten yummy breakfast before we got there.  We had some breakfast and started getting ready for the day.

The 4 of us went for a walk in the neighborhood which was nice.  It was a little cool, but after walking a while we warmed up pretty good.   When we got back a few cousins were already there.  We had just about everyone in the family that lives in Texas there except 1 of the husbands (he had to work).   We got to visit, eat lots of good food, try my cousins homemade beer, and we took some good family pictures.   A good time was had by all.  

We finished the night with my mom and aunt chatting and having a Rum Chata.   Very fun visit.  

11/22 - I got up and went to work out.   The tire light on the MDX came on as I was leaving.   I went to get Landon and we went to a few places to try and fill up the tire.  We got it filled up and seemed ok.   Landon and I got ready and packed up before Greg got home.   Greg got home and we piled in the car with Patch and took Patch and Pops to the Myers house.  Then we headed down to Conroe.   I drove for a while.  We stopped for lunch at Schlotzsky's along the way.  We had to take another pit stop so we stopped at Dairy Queen.

We got down to Conroe and got to spend some time with several cousins including our cute 2 year old cousin.  Kasey really enjoyed hanging out with her and giving her gifts that Kasey had helped pick out.

We all had Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner which was a fun treat.    We stayed up talking about what we could remember as kids which is fun.  Greg and I stayed at Cousins house and the kids stayed at my aunts.  They share a back yard so they are really close

11/21 - A bit of a crazy day.  Greg had to get up early and went to his cousin's funeral in Colorado with his dad and sister.   I took the Kids to grandma's for the day.  They got to hang out with Grandma and did some cooking for Thanksgiving and Carlos' birthday.   They made chocolate cake for aunt mary, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and chocolate cake for Carlos.  They also made their own chocolate pie.  They had fun and enjoy cooking especially with the grandparents.

That night the kids and I met Grammy and Gramps for dinner.  Landon was looking for places in between on google maps and found Magic Time machine so we went there.   Landon kind of remembers going there but Kasey doesn't.  I have such fun memories of going there as a kid laughing and watching my parents and grandparents laugh as well.  At this restaurant the whole staff is dressed like characters, and they make jokes about just about everything.   We had spiderman as our waiter.  He took us to the salad bar and made a joke about if we had questions to ask the little kid that was in front of us.  he also brought bread to the table and told us it was bread disguised as a napkin.

Very fun.  We got pictures including one where they switched our faces which was really funny.

Kasey went home with Grammy and Gramps to ride with them to Conroe.  Landon and I waited for Greg to get home and went with him.

11/19 - After some debate with Kasey about when to decorate for Christmas the kids and I put the tree and decorations up.  Saturday Kasey argued the putting up the decorations before her birthday was wrong and I didn't care about her.  By the time I got home from moms day out she had a note saying we could decorate on Sunday.   Luckily that was the case because we don't have a lot of time other than that Sunday to put up decorations.

11/18 - I had a moms day with some of the other girl scout moms.  We went to grapevine for lunch and to do some wine tastings.  We went to a few places, got some snacks along the way.  It was fun to get out and hang out and enjoy some wine.   We also did a little shopping along the way.  Very fun day.  We were home in time for dinner.

11/17 - Landon had an overnight to go to.   They had fun with burgers and electronics.  The same night Kasey had a friend over for her birthday party.  I took the girls to the salon for some pampering, then we had pizza at home and the girls watched a movie before making a big palette on the floor to sleep on.  This meant Greg and I were in the same room for the evening.  We got to watch some shows we hadn't watched yet.

11/12 - The kids and I went to see Thor.   Landon and I liked it, but Kasey was bored.  The kids and I went to lunch at Zoes which they weren't thrilled about.

Greg was at coaches meeting then went to watch Cowboy game with Doug.   The kids and I hung out at the house and we grabbed a quick dinner. 

11/11 - We had a few Scout things going on today.  Landon had merit badge work from 8-12pm.  Kasey and I had a journey workshop at the Heard museum.  The girls learned about water, water cycle, fresh vs salt water.  Then they had to carry water in a bucket a long way showing what it would be like to do that for your family as many girls do around the world.

We came home after scouts.  Kasey and I went to Pei Wei for lunch.  We went home to change shirts and say hi to the boys then we met Grammy at craft fair.  We had fun shopping together.  We found some things for each other and some gifts for others as well.  Fun times.  We even saw Fredel, Mrs Dedo, and Mrs Carter.

The kids and I went to dinner at Cotton Patch Cafe, kept track of the Aggies winning and then came home to get the kids in bed.   Of course at one point before Landon went to bed the power went out in the whole neighborhood.  It wasn't for to long, but scared Landon a bit.  Luckily it came back on, Patch and I were getting a little bored :)

11/10 - Landon finally went back to school today although I'm pretty sure he would have rather stayed home.  During the week he missed 3 STAAR benchmark tests and his band concert.  Friday he had to make up 2 benchmark tests but got to do AIM as well.

That morning they had Veterans Day celebration at the school.   For the first time we had Girl Scouts walk in the parade.  We discovered that we have about 54 girl scouts and many of them walked in the parade.  It was neat to see!

That night Landon's soccer team played in a championship game to determine who from their grade level will compete for Allen in a tournament in early December.   Landon didn't play a ton which this time it was ok because he was tired from being sick all week.   The team won 2 to 0.  Great job boys.

We stopped at Jason's Deli on the way home for some dinner then got the kids to bed.  They were both a bit tired.

11/6 - 9 -  Landon woke up with fever and didn't feel well so we kept him home from school. Apparently Landon wasn't the only one to get sick.   We don't have firm numbers, but supposedly Monday about 12 kids were home sick and by the end of the day a total of 40 or so kids had gone home.  At any rate by that evening I took him to the Dr.   He had chills, didn't feel well, had a head ache and upset stomach some.   They did flu test, and Landon ended up curled up on the table with a blanket.  He tested positive for Flu A - as did several others in his class.    Over the next few days he had fever, chills, felt bad, had really bad headaches and had a little cough.   The first few days he really didn't feel well.  The last few he still had fever but was playing xbox with his friends often.  Some of the other kids had really bad coughs with it and at least one wasn't able to get off the couch for several days.    They think the kids got it from a field trip the week before

11/5 - With time change we tried to sleep in some, but didn't do very well.  Kasey came down and we were lazy watching Hallmark for a while.   We had some donuts for breakfast and then eventually got showers and got ready.   We went to the salon to get our nails done, then picked up Greg and went to get Landon at the church.   We headed to lunch because we were all pretty hungry.  Yummy Spazo.

Landon found out he didn't make percussion.  He was pretty upset.  Its hard seeing your kids hurt and not be able to help them.

We came home to rest then got Landon ready for Cotilion.   Not his favorite, but I don't think it was horrible today.

We had bacon and eggs for dinner tonight.  Landon needed to watch Night at the museum for scouts.  He said he didn't feel very good and we measured his temperature and it was about 99.  He went to bed.  

11/4 - We got up early, took Kasey and Patch to Grandmas.  Doug, Dave, Greg and I drove down to College Station for the A&M game.   It wasn't pretty, but we had some fun anyway.  It was 11am game so we basically drove down and came back after the game was over.  We had chicken and dumplings with Grandma and Pops then took Kasey home for her to get some sleep.

11/3 - Landon left on wilderness survival camp out in Oklahoma - Saturday night they had to build their own shelter to sleep under.  Landon enjoyed it and did a good job building his shelter.  

11/2 - Landon had 3rd round of percussion tryouts.   He didn't think he did great.  7 kids from Norton and 12 kids from the other 5 schools.

October 2017

10/31 - We had a fun Halloween.  Kasey was pillow Kase (grandma made her a pillow kase with minions on it), and Landon was a German soccer player.  We all had dinner with friends at the Cracknell's house.  The boys wanted to walk on their own - within a certain area.  The dads decided to walk behind them at a distance which means they went to a few houses to get beer.   :)

The moms walked with the girls and had fun with them.  Only one house was a bit scary.  They all know which house has full candy bars though.

10/29 - Greg got home about 2am so we let him sleep in some.  Landon and I went to sell popcorn at Lowe's. He sold over $100 which is pretty good.   We all had lunch together.

That afternoon Kasey and I had a girl scout meeting.  Its fun to start talking about cookie season with the girls.  We set our goals and talked about some upcoming activities with the parents.

10/28 - A bit of a crazy day but kind of normal for us.   Landon had scouts pow wow from 8-12, then he hung out with Cracknells for lunch and part of the afternoon.  Greg took the bus with Doug to College Station to watch A&M lose to Miss St.  They had fun on the bus.  Kasey and I had lunch and then went to an event where they earned a badge at a girl led workshop.  It was pretty good since we have a few new scouts - they got to sing some songs and learn some of the basics of girl scouts.  They even got to draw some.

After that we went to get Landon.  We hung out at the house cleaning some then we went to Landon's soccer game at 7.  It was a bit chilly but in the stands we had hot chocolate and blankets.   They tied 2 to 2 although the PK was a bit questionable.

I got the kids home and into bed.  A&M was playing so bad I just watched Hallmark instead of the game.

10/25 - Kasey dressed up as a role model - her dad in all under armour.  Hmmm. I got back from business trip to Minnesota and mom and dad brought the car to the airport.  I took a colleague home and then met up with the family.

10/22 - I slept in but Greg woke up early.  I got up to walk the dog and shower and Greg went to pick up the kids.  Landon had early cotilion that day getting dressed up in jacket, khaki's and tie.  

Landon made cookies and pancakes at grandmas.

Kasey and I got to hang out watching Hallmark, Greg went to FC Dallas game.   Then we went to pick up the boys.  They learned to introduce themselves, did some dancing and had a cookie and drink.

10/21 - Landon had a soccer game in Frisco.   He scored a goal, it was set up perfectly for him.   After the game Kasey went home with Grammy and Gramps for the afternoon and night.  Landon came home to shower, we went to Elke's for lunch then he went home with Grandma for the afternoon and night.

I had cookie training for the afternoon then we had birthday dinner with a friend.  Very cool private restaurant - good food and good friends.

10/15 - Kasey got up and did some stuff around 7, but by 8am she had the light on and told me it was time to get up.   We went to Market Street for breakfast and then headed to target to look for boots, bras and pajamas.

We went home to get some laundry done and clean up some.   That afternoon we had lunch with a friend and her daughter and then the 4 of us went to see Princess Bride.  Kasey thought it was ok, but the rest of us really enjoyed it.

By this time Greg was home, had gotten Landon.   Everyone was pretty tired.  We went to an early dinner so we could get everyone in bed on time.

10/14 - I let Kasey sleep in our bed.  She started out on one side of the bed but of course she fell asleep on my side.  She moved back to get under the covers.  Everything was ok until Kasey woke up and woke me up at 6:15 in the morning.   She got up before 7 and sent to do some other stuff.  She got me up because she was starving.   We went in our pajamas and jackets to get drive through breakfast.  We finished watching our hallmark movie.  Then we decided it was time to take Patch for a walk.  

After that we got ready for the day.   We went to the salon first to get our nails done which is always fun.  Kasey really liked the lady that did her nailsWe headed out and got some lunch - Canes which Kasey wants all the time.  We stopped at Grif's for a treat.  Then we headed for some shopping.  We went to Macy's and both found some shoes on sale.  Then we headed to Kohls for some winter clothes shopping.  We both enjoy our shopping together, and always makes me think about shopping with my mom as a kid.

After that we went to Grandmas to get Kasey's halloween costume, and then went by my office to get a few things ready for my WW meetings.  After that we headed home to Patch.  We ordered Pei Wei and hung out at home.  We had a lazy night and Kasey convinced me to let her sleep in our bed again.  I told her she can't wake me up before 7 for sure.

10/13 - start of girls weekend.  Greg flew to Florida to see A&M play.  Landon left for obstacle course weekend with boy scouts.   So its just Kasey and I.  We had dinner at home, watched some Hallmark movie and got Kasey to bed.   She told me that she had a hard day at school.  One of her teachers worked them hard to get their work done and I think she was tired.  Kasey also told me that at school she doesn't like to go to the bathroom so she won't miss any instruction - hmmm interesting.   Anyway today she really had to go because they were standing around.  

On our trip last weekend I said something to Kasey like, do you want the pillow Kase?   So Greg looks at me because I just said pillow case and somehow that became Kasey's new nick name.  to the point that she decided that's what she wants to be for Halloween.   Grandma is going to make her a pillow case costume with minion fabric.  

10/9 - The kids had the day off so I took the day off as well.  I got up to work out early - I did deadlift with 155 bls :)  I came home and everyone was still in bed.  I put a towel on my pillow and went back to bed for a little while.

We didn't do a lot, but had a nice day.  The kids put halloween stuff up, we had lunch together, did a little target shopping, we caught up on a few TV shows, sold scout stuff and Greg mowed the yard.   Overall a good day.

10/8 - We got up and got ready to head out after breakfast.  We were headed out of town and I mentioned that we should have gone to see my Aunt because the kids don't have school Monday.   So we decided to head south and go spend the afternoon with family.   We went to my aunts house to hang out.  The kids got to play wii (nicely together), we had lunch, Greg got aunt mary past a candy crush level, and Greg and Gary changed out the water heater.

We were leaving later after noon and the kids said that was really fun they were glad we stopped.  Me too.  We don't get enough family time

10/7 - We slept in some, got up had breakfast showered to get ready.  We left early so we could get a table at the Chicken - when your kids ask to go to the Chicken we go :)   Greg dropped us off at Northgate and went to park.   We grabbed a table, the kids got Powerade and each got dominoes.  They started building stuff, and making them knock them all down.   We had some drinks and ate burgers and Tijuana fries (yum).   Then we headed to Duddley's to hang out.  The kids played pool and some other games.

We left early to go to kids yell and walk in.   We ended up stopping at shiner bar because Landon really had to go to the restroom.   So we got a drink.  We were literally the only people in there so we did some dancing as well.  We had fun then walked over to campus.

We stopped in at the bookstore and found a few things then walked over to kids yell practice.   We got to see the band and the team walk in.   The kids went to play a game and Greg came over so we could walk in together.

We lost the game, but the score was better than expected with Alabama.

After the game we headed back to the house to get the kids to bed.

10/6 - we got kids from school, dropped everything off at home and headed to College Station for the weekend.  Google had us go around town east to get through.   We got to College Station, we picked up Wings n More and took them to the house we rented.  We ate and watched the end of the US soccer game - they won 4 to 0.     After that we got kids in bed and the boys went out to Northgate.  I had some wine and watched some Arrow.  Apparently I was tired and fell asleep on the couch about 11pm.

10/3 - Landon found out today that he made it to next level of percussion try outs in band.  He's pretty excited.

10/1 - We slept in a bit, stopped by Shipleys and headed home.  We got Patchy and headed home.  Landon and I went out to see some boy scout fundraising stuff and then we went to Roman Cucina for dinner which Greg and I really like.  We were all a bit tired and headed to bed.
