Kids updates - July 26th
Kasey is saying more words now - she says off, Daddy (dat-ee), dog, truck, stuck, Landon. She also says Pops for both Pops and Gramps
Kasey can point to most parts of her body when we ask where they are - nose, eyes, mouth, chin, head, hair, arm, elbow, fingers, hands, legs, feet, toes, etc
Kasey is also doing really well pointing out things. In her first words book she can point out many things like balls, fish, flower, grass, butterfly, tree, sky, several animals like elephant, bear, frog etc and other things like lamp, keys, clock, etc.
Landon has done a couple camps this summer. He did a cooking camp and a space camp in city of Allen. He seemed to enjoy both of them. He got to see a couple friends from AppleCreek in the cafeteria. In cooking camp they got to make food and make art with food or of food. In the space camp they learned about planets some. They made rockets, jet packs, tin can robots, and earth and moon art.
July 12th, Landon started back at AppleCreek for 2nd summer session and he started taking phonics for the first time. He spent a couple weeks in phonics working on his letter sounds and recently he's started his first word list. It's a list of words that have at in them (bat, cat, rat, sat, etc). He seems to enjoy learning them, but sometimes gets bored and just makes things up. We read a story tonight and I asked him about a word in the story - he knew it was bat. Landon has also learned to spell some other words - he can spell cab, tree and zoo. He tries to spell words quite often and he randomly spelled cab. He can recognize Happy Birthday because he writes it so often. He also can spell Kasey's name with a little help since he signs her name often.
7/17 - I painted Kasey's toe nails for the first time. I was doing mine and she stuck her foot out like she wanted them painted so I did. She seemed to really like it.
We had soccer game around lunch time, then we had a quick lunch at chick fill a then home to rest before Justin Dewers Birthday party. Both kids had a great time at the party playing and hanging out.
After the party Greg went to FC Dallas game. The kids and I went to Willow Bend Mall. They played at the play area for a little bit until they told us to leave so they could clean it. We walked around some and ate some dinner there.
When Landon was young we bought him a little dog pillow. I gave it to Kasey tonight to see if she wanted to sleep with it. Hopefully it's not to early.
7/15 - Same early morning and leaving at noon. We met at Big easy for lunch (Greg, the kids and I). Then Greg went to dr appointment and the kids and I kind of hung out. We were going to the mall, but Kasey was really tired and Landon had to get to soccertots. Landon and I went to soccer tots and I got to talk with Heidi and Anita which I don't get to do very often.
7/14 - I had to be on calls with Hong Kong at 3am Dallas time for 2 days. I basically went to bed at 9ish when the kids went to sleep and then woke up at 1:30am to get ready and drive to work by 3am. I stayed at work until noon and left. While I was tired this was pretty cool getting to spend the afternoon with the kids. The first day Landon and I went shopping for Greg's birthday and then walked around the mall and got a fruit drink. We got home at 5pm and I crashed for about an hour even though the kids were crawling all over me.
7/10 - We had a super busy day. Landon had a soccer game at 11. Then we went to lunch with Grammy, Gramps and Grandma at Country Burger. It was Gramps BDay.
That afternoon Landon went to Devon's Birthday party at a local gymnastics place & Kasey and I went to Logan Reed's party at Pump it Up Jr in Plano. Every seemed to have a great time. Kasey had such a good time that she threw a screaming on the floor fit when it was time to leave the play area. We had to leave anyway to get to another birthday party, but she was a mess and cried the whole way home.
Then we all went to Peyton's (Liam's sister) birthday party. The kids got to play in the water outside. Jessica had done everything to the theme of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. she made the food he ate (or very similar) and had signs for each of them with page from the book. The cake was cupcakes in shape of a big caterpillar, and there were other fun decorations. Her "gift bags" Were the book itself and lolly pop. Very cute :)
When we got home Greg's mom, sister, grandmother, and aunt and uncle came over for a little bit to visit. It was Uncle Buddy's birthday as well. Needless to say we were tired after that day.
7/7 - Kasey went pee pee in the potty again.
7/5 - Kasey went pee pee in the potty for the first time. She sees Landon go before bath so it's not uncommon for her to ask to sit on the potty. She's never done anything before. Anyway she asked to sit on the potty about 3 times and was tooting so I was wondering if she would go poo poo, but then she went pee pee. She acted like she knew what she was doing. I tried to make a big deal of it and clapped. She got excited. Very cute. They are growing up way to fast.
July 4th weekend
We had a good weekend.
Saturday Greg went to watch soccer with the boys, and the kids and I went to the gym. I to an aqua class because that was all that was being offered that day, but it was a good class. That night the whole family went to the FC Dallas game. We had dinner at the Main Burger joint right next to the stadium. It was raining and of course we didn't bring rain gear. We hung out under cover in the stadium for a while. Kasey was actually really excited about the players coming on and the music and everything. She was actually paying more attention than Landon. They were pretty good until about 18 minutes into the game and then they got restless. We spent most of the rest of the game walking around. Kasey had not really had a nap so I know she was running on fumes. We stayed and watched the fire works after the game which were really good. Kasey wasn't scared at all. We actually left a little early to beat some of the traffic and that worked out well.
Sunday Grammy, Landon, Kasey and I went to the Heard Museum to see the new Ice Age exhibit and the butterfly exhibit. They were both pretty cool. The Ice Age exhibit had several life size animals that were moving and making noise. Landon was a little afraid, but Kasey wasn't. It was warm outside, but cooler than it has been. That evening we went to Grammy and Gramps house to have dinner. Our cousin Erica had come in town with a friend for the weekend and so we all had tacos at moms house. We got to talk a little bit before Eric went back to Ft Worth for fireworks. We hung out with Grammy and Gramps for a little while. Grammy gave the kids baths. We left in time to see the fireworks on the way home. Kasey fell asleep in the car. We went up to the Plano TI site to watch fire works. Susan from the gym and her 2 little ones were there so Landon had a great time. Kasey actually slept through the entire thing even with the windows open.
Monday we got up and headed to breakfast because the house keepers came, and then we went to the pool and played. We had a good time going back and forth between the kiddie pool and the baby pool. Landon had swim lessons that afternoon and ended up getting a private lesson which was good because he needed to work on his kicking and arms.
Jessica had a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme. She went all out making the food that the caterpillar eats
